Merging folders instead of replacing is most definitely needed
+1 !! I did not know this happened until I moved a folder with 2 pictures in to the same place with another identically named folder with 600 pictures in.
Upon checking later, I was horrified to only see the 2 pictures in that folder!!
I'd like email built into the OS like on iOS. Make Mail a core app, perhaps a little mail icon next to the clock that tells me how many new emails I have. I dont really want to have to have Mail running all the time.
Also, unify the UI! So many different styles coming from 1st party apps.
Bring some functionality from other OS's. There are quite a few things that Windows and Linux do that Mac OS does not which is a shame really.
Replace iTunes. Rewrite it into a modern app! Coca 64 bit. Strip out all the bloat, separate some functions into other apps (like iOS Apps merging into the Mac App Store) the sync of devices can then be handled by the oft forgotten iSync which will take stuff from iTunes, App Store, QuickTime and iPhoto and sync them to an iDevice!
Build a marketplace into quickTime for Movies and TV Shows. Then iTunes will go back to being about Music and the purchasing of Music.
Quicktime will be about Movies and the purchasing of movies.
App Store will be about Apps (for both platforms)
I think this would be much nicer.
Sync could also happen over Wifi...no matter if your device is plugged in by USB or connected to the network, it will show up in iSync. When you want to sync something wirelessly you have to enter the password of the device. Simples.
I think some big things are coming with Apple this year. Time for Apple to play catchup this time, and hopefully surpass. They've had a lot of time to bake Lion. I think Snow Leopard is the beta version of Lion. Like they had to get something quick out the door to meet Windows 7. None of the major stuff was ready in time, just the underlying foundation code of everything. So they released what they had and that was Snow Leopard. Think of it as a stepping stone. They paved the way for this grand OS, the big show that will be Lion. They got everyone ready with the hardware and the driving force to 64bit.
