Oh
this addition is so un-21st century sine I'm suppsed to be fake nice and never never complain,
but im further this:
the entire, dortina, github is a very pompous process.
even the download and "built" is confusing as other mac expert here stated.
(yes i have successfully OCLP my macs)
they wont help on eon one and act snooty when one compliments their efforts
yet they complain like babies that they can get Sonoma launched before public
and make people feel bad and guilty.

they really don't save many macbooks from the scrap heap
(now pay attentions, doubters-this is important)
as the original OSX works perfectly thanks to others who
develop software for our early Intel macs, like Sealion, Fireofx legacy etc.
THEY are the heroes, and nice vey HELPFUL people.
That patcher for Mojave and catalina were spot one and perfect
because the person who deloped and explained the process
simply cared.

I don't get the fixation with OCLP. If I have a Mac Pro (aka Xeon Workstation) I'm more interested in having a rock-solid stable system than than surfing the wave of compatibility hacks from pseudonymous developers.
I could see someone wanting to use OpenCore if they have an older Mac, and rely on programs that only run on currently-supported OS's.

For instance, the latest version of Turbo Tax (for tax year 2023) didn't run on anything older than Monterey; and TT 2024 will (unless Intuit changes their recent practice) require Ventura.

I think at that point, they need to consider installing Windows 10 or 11 as their daily driver on the thing then, as I have done on several Macs. If they can manage OCLP, they can manage a Windows setup routine, especially since legitimate BootCamp support software makes it so easy...

A 2012 MBP will work fine with Catalina (last supported) for most tasks, and OCLP will enable a few newer versions beyond that to be installed (incidentally Monterey was the last one I felt like pushing it to), but at the end of the day it's running Windows 10 LTSC 2021: something QuickBooks (makers of TurboTax and software I actually use) still works with and will for some time I imagine. And I accomplished this feat without any hack-y solutions. Just used BootCamp to grab the Windows Support Drivers, create an installer, and then just wiped it clean with said installer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is my situation exactly. I have a cMP 3,1 which I've owned from new in July 2008. I ran Dos Dude High Sierra for a few years but found the updating routine difficult because I had an nVidia card that needed web drivers and they wouldn't always play along with updates. And it became very frustrating not to be able to use Safari without various website errors.

I switched to an AMD card and installed OCLP recently and it:

1) was very easy and straightforward with the brilliant assistance of people at this forum, and

2) has provided me with a rock-solid machine that lets me run Monterey as the daily system, as well as Mojave, which I need for my film scanning workflow with Hasselblad's FlexColor and photo editing software Photoshop CS6.

I have zero limitations in the machine hardware-wise. It runs as fast as it has ever done with past OS versions from Lion and onwards. I'm even running Davinci Resolve on mine without trouble.

In my view, the people behind OCLP ought to be given the Apple World Equivalent of the Nobel Prize because they enable us to keep our Macs running year after year.

I have an MD101 running OCLP Monterey with SSD and 16GB RAM. Also 4 2011 iMacs with SSD and 32GB RAM.

They run like a dream and I'm extremely grateful to the OCLP team for the effort and time they dedicate to make old machines "new" again.

there
i think them s axed Monterey this week......good!
what a non-human OS, i am moving files from two 1TB AFSGD$%$ formatted drives
to several others while this experience is tedious and slower than usual.
OS seem to thrive after they get the axe adf hopefully if i ever use Monterey again this year
that stupid red1 will be eliminated form system preferences.
AND
ya think  can as a line of code that maybe i don't need or want Sonama ,
and leave me alone about the un-humanic system every start!

im el finito ranting now....
and back to Mountain Lion and these great early Intel macs
hopefully until 2025!

As someone who used to do hackintosh a while back with Chameleon and Clover bootloaders, I just had a quick look at the guide on the website and I didn't see anything that I would classify as confusing, even for someone who isn't tech savy at all. It looks like it's 99% point and click with screenshots provided...

👍As I mentioned, stability is of the utmost importance since clients depend on it. But it's great to have two, 5, 1's. One for solid tracking, and the second one for mixing with plugins that won't run on older OS's. That's where OCLP shines when you have no other option. Although I do plan on a new Mac next year, and of course, that's just something that has to happen. Nonetheless, I will still be tracking on my workhouse, with Mt. Lion.

It depends. iOS/iPadOS 17.6 was barely out a week and they've already released 17.6.1. If there's a critical vulnerability we could see 12.7.7 or 12.7.8.

I was shocked Big Sur was updated all the way to 11.7.10. Six of those updates were inside the final six months of support. Snow Leopard is the only other OS to have received ≥ a .8 release.

And Panther ended at 10.3.9
But, I think sdfox7 was commenting on more "modern" Mac systems.

Yes, I was primarily referring to the Intel era...although you could say Tiger was the unification of the PowerPC/Intel era, at least beginning with 10.4.4. I believe it is that unification which led Tiger to have such a long lifespan.

Btw, is there a download link for 12.7.6 update?
you can always give this a go in Terminal.
it'll drop into your applications folder and is there when you're ready to update.
works for me …
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.7.6

also this to see what's available …
softwareupdate --list-full-installers

Finding available software
Software Update found the following full installers:

Doesn’t work in all macOS versions, for example if you are trying to upgrade from High Sierra.

i’m happy to stand corrected …
but i assume that if you run the ‘list’ command - (softwareupdate --list-full-installers)
the results will be …
the macOS that came with your particular Mac
and all subsequent versions up to the most recent compatible version.

Same result: unrecognized option `--list-full-installers'
"This particular –fetch-full-installer flag for the command line softwareupdate tool is only available in MacOS Catalina 10.15 and later versions of MacOS, so if you’re trying to use this from Mojave or earlier it will not be available"

there
hello Monterey-ians!

My M1 Mac Mini 2020 just updated to Safari (a web browser program) 17.6
while the MacBook Air M1 2020 (silver) wont.
which is staying with safari (the silly blue watch face icon with the red arrow on 1 o'clock and the white 35 minutes) 17.5

Can I still use the internets on the MacBook Air m1 2020 silver thought the software is out of date?

thanks in advance!

personally I think since i only have 0.49¢ of $s in my account, I think I cants upgrade......

It's a compass not a clock. You know... on safari in the bush 😀
