Mac OS Monterey (12) no longer supported after the 12.7.6 update?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone here has seen any mention of a 12.7.7 release in beta, or RC? I'm wanting to make sure Monterey is done before switching to Linux, or OCLP, so I have the latest firmware updates for this iMac, 17,1.

In trying Sonoma on this iMac via OCLP, I find some of my older audio software such as "Amadeus Pro" work better under Monterey than Sonoma, and the alternatives I found such as Audacity, OcenAudio, etc are QT based, and since I also like KDE, have decided to just use them there. I've also decided on Linux because of enjoying playing old dos based games at times, or older windows games that are still 32 bit, and were never updated to run in a 64 bit environment, and then there is proton for steam that I find works quite well with the games i like.

So, Ideally i might do a dual boot system since I don't need the latest version of macOS for the few things I absolutely need macOS for these days.

There isn't.
12.7.6 RC4 21H1317 is still available for download.
Meanwhile, there is already a beta for Ventura 13.7 22H121

Why?
Monterey will get better after  ignores the OS- BIG TIME!
the internet will be hassle free with less pop-ups and pestering from web developers.
that red 1 will diminish from the system preferences icon
and
we can still use icloud and airplay!

The only thing is, none of what you just said applies to my setup. I don't have a badge on system preferences, I don't deal with web popups in any high numbers. You never bothered to read my part about 32-bit support, at least your comment doesn't suggest you did. In fact, no one who responded to me gave me the answer I was looking for. I simply asked if there was a 12.7.7 RC, or beta so I would know to install it or not for potential EFI updates. I also explained why I was asking. and what my plans were, which people also overlooked.

As far as my other reply. I simply meant because I'm on a late 2015, 27" iMac, Monterey is the last official OS, so I won't have the red badge for updates unless I did Open core legacy Patcher. I do agree that once macOS gets into the security only updates phase, it tends to be more stable. Again I apologize for any miscommunications first time around. I had caught the first line of the first post, I never would have made the second post. I am considered legally blind and sometimes I miss words when reading, and if it's not a really long post, I don't always use Text to speech. I always use zoom though.

With that said, thanks for the replies, I have a better Idea of what I want to do now. By the way, Mojave is an option for 32-bit mac apps for me, but Linux is still better at this point for that becau;se of the age of Mojave and current stuff being dropped from support. Plus with wine / proton, it eliminates the need for a full windows VM, as what I want to do works without issues.

anyways:

I just downloaded Sequoia Beta and that is great!
we can now use "new finder window" (sonoma and Ventura left out)
and the music sounds great, more clear and vibrant!

I just launched the OS 15 minutes ago so I need time to really test this,
the amazing thing is that the beta os is on ssd drive and running to my MacBook Air m1 2020.
and the response is incredible!

maybe this is what we needed in 2022.....

I am somewhat the same. in terms of wanting a break from Apple, I've used Apple computers since the 80's as a child in school, starting with the Apple //e //c, and IIGS, as well as early macs. I used apple because at the time the mac provided the best accessibility and other features for the visually impaired, and the overall software was great too. So when other platforms such as Linux in the last few years started catching up, it was a breath of fresh air to be able to try other platforms. There will always be things the Mac has that are still better right now, but for me, they don't require the latest version, so a dual boot of Monterey, and Linux would work.I'd rather continue using macOS and other Apple products because I want and choose to, not because I feel forced to because it's my only option. So this is kind of nice for me. If I do well with Linux it opens up the opportunity to build my own computer and have more control over hardware as well, than apple gives these days.

Just like Catalina, there were bugs that were never fixed. Bugs that existed when Catalina was released. Apple just moved on to the next OS the year after and just ignored fixing them. Monterey is the same. It's starting to have issues and Safari is having issues that apple will not fix. Good thing Firefox is still available and constantly updated and fixed. So I use that for websites that will no longer work properly in Safari with Monterey on my old MacBook Air 2017.

Update: I also just did a full wipe of the MBA 2017. This has 8gb RAM and 512GB HD. I did a full erase and reinstall Mac OS. Did not load any backup or sign into iCloud. Safari is still sluggish and some sites like Instagram Reels will just crash Safari. One time watching Youtube it locked up the entire Mac and needed a force reboot. Like I said, at least Firefox works without issue but it sure ramps up the CPU when watching videos on YouTube.

Agree with @frou! Stability and performance are much more valuable than the latest new stuff. My Mac Studio runs the Monterey it was delivered with, and it will stay that way unless/until I have reasonable cause to upgrade. Everything works perfectly and is configured perfectly... if it ain't broke...
