I'll probably have to try that but I'm reminded that it did all work when I bought the computer. I can't remember the OS it came with but all my HDs and other 3rd party pci cards would mount without any issues.
Mine came with Monterey. No issues with that or Ventura at the time. Problems started with Sonoma which also included not being able to use eGPU's without them hard crashing the Mac.

Yes, probably the same for me.

Whether it's just a result of greater numbers in use, Sonnet's NVME cards seem to have been effected more intensely by the Sonoma unmounting issue than others - at least we have folks here with Highpoint cards who were not effected.

If you're looking for a NVME SSD, I've had reliable performance with Samsung 990 Pros. Yeah, they're more expensive to start, but the cost of one round of troubleshooting an unreliable drive... is it really a savings to get a cheaper option?

Edit: also, you can renew your Applecare, it goes on to a rolling 12 month auto-renewing plan.
Hey, I have read a lot of things on this thread over the past couple years but I have not had any of the problems, ever. Maybe it's because I use NO raid configurations? Maybe it's just I got lucky by choosing OWC 4m2 as my card and also lucky on the 4x WD 8Tb nvme blades ? I also have the samsung 990 pro on, I think an OWC 1M2 and it's also always fine.

I redundant backup those nvme's to a pair of WD optinand 22TB drives in the "upper" sata bays, using Bombich CCC and CCC the mac SSD/os to a sata ssd up there as well.

I run 3 displays off the dual 32gb graphics mpx modules in the optimal port choices I read about.

Is the trouble everyone has because of the cards they're trying to use and/or nvme or mainly just the raid aspect ?

I haven't had problems either*, though I'm still on Ventura.

*occasionally my external TB-connected USB drive tower won't be there on reboot, but that's an unplug / plug cycle to solve.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences to report with 15.5, as far as NVME mounting is concerned?
15.1.1 is still working well for me, but I'd like to update if it looks safe to do so from this point of view.

Sticking safe on 15.1.1 too as everything working. If you're brave enough to take the plunge and update let us know how it goes. Will try and do a test drive with the latest soon to see if all good to replace my main bootdisk with.

I don't know if this is a symptom of this same problem, but here's a potential datapoint:

Ventura 13.7.6
Highpoint 1104f in x8 slot
2x Samsung 990 Pro - 1 boot drive, one Photo archive.

Swiping through a smart folder on the photo drive with a little over 29000 36MP RAW photos, with icon sizes at about 2/3 of the slider value, quicklooking , using the preview panel to check EXIF data etc and after a while finder locks up with a beachball, I get an unsafe disk ejection notification for my photo drive 990 Pro, and after force-quitting Finder, it won't relaunch; it goes back to being quit after one dock bounce.

Checking Disk Utility, the photo drive isn't listed as a device.

Reboot, the system comes up with my usual desktop wallpaper on the login screen, but when I log in, all my desktop wallpaper preferences are gone for every space - they're back to Ventura Dark default. The Photo drive is also nowhere to be seen.

Power cycle with a minute of power physically unplugged, boot up, desktop background is still on the login screen, but on logging in wallpapers are still Ventura default, and Photo drive has returned.

I am tempted to swap my Highpoint card to an x16 slot (I have 2 new 990 Pros to install as well), and move the Afterburner to an x8 slot, or out of the machine completely.

same boat here = upgraded from sonoma, where my highpoint 7140A was perfectly fine, to Sequoia and the drive don't show up in disk utility, unless i am in recovery mode ... looks like the highpoint drivers are flawed, and i don't know how to unsinstal them.... the system profiler says they are indeed recognized and working...

I've updated my OS to the latest 15.5 and all is good as my various Raid drvies are mounting without issue.
