They would have to match the price but do they have to advertise it?
Or are the chips starting to fall?

Just got my shipping email.

Amazon automatically and quickly adjusts its prices to match Best Buy prices as a matter of routine. However, although I have seen this many, many times to match sales prices, I've never seen it happen for a clearance price.

If it was available in Canada, I would really rethink of waiting as I was planning to buy the update of this version... Sad :p

Very interesting... First thing in a while that makes me wonder if the Mac Pro refresh might be sooner rather than later... Or it could be an oops :)

Either way, I hope those who moved on this opportunity will let us know ASAP what they actually received.

Tempting offer. Even if you don't need all the 12 cores with your work it's a good deal and not much to lose. It's brand new with warranty. If the new 2013 Mac Pro is in the horizon, these stores may be clearing all current Mac Pro models and not just one.

Mac Mall

MacMall will not honor their price match statement on their website.

B&H is showing that the product is currently out of stock.

It looks like the Mac Mall policy excludes "clearance" items.

I did find another listing on B&H that matched the model #, was in stock, but it was not on sale.

I agree that it is a very tempting offer especially when Amazon doesn't charge sales tax in most states. On the other hand, it is still a 3-year old design without SATA3, USB3, and PCIe 3.0 native support, furthermore most people could probably benefit more from higher clock speeds than 12 cores. If anyone could find some good use of this machine for the next 3 years, then it is a great deal no doubt. I also tend to agree that this single deal has nothing to do with the introduction of new MP.

Also, it looks like the Amazon one has Mountain Lion preinstalled vs Lion at Best Buy so obviously a newer build. Not that it makes much difference at this point.

Amazon is probably just aligning its price with Best Buy while Best Buy is clearing its old stock. So, it doesn't really matter as at the end its the same hardware...

Gosh, the last 24 hours I've felt I needed to jump on this because its going to be available for just a little bit...now I don't think that's the case anymore.

12 core monster for 2500, kind of tempting

I was first glad to hear this...simply that it might be further evidence of a new MacPro in the wings.

But as I've thought about it...I've been increasingly tempted myself.

Amazon's sites says only 3 remaining...more to come. Orders must be coming in fast for the last 5 hours. Snow Leopard actually can run in this model too. My friend has this 2.4ghz 2012 Mac Pro too. Brought my Snow Leopard HD, tried and tested and it booted up fine in this 2012 Mac Pro

If they'd only put a 7200 HDD in them.

I was just going to order 16GB of RAM and the 256 SSD from OWC and put them in myself.. (ram looked like a piece of cake.. SSD drive looked a little challenging).

After spending the better part of an hour looking at the specs of the 12 core 2.4 mac pro I have to say, for what I would use it for (primarily Lightroom) the $1400 2.6 i7 mini with 16GB of RAM , and a 256 SSD comes in with better cinibench marks than the heavily discounted (now $2500) 12 core beast.. I cant justify the extra $1100 bucks even if it is at a great (comparatively) price.

But ya got to love the flexibility of the mac pro.. the inside design with the 4 bays and ram slots easily accessible to the user.. it belongs in the museum of modern art.. clean and functional.

Well, I took the plunge. I have this sinking feeling that something must not be right, but it was too good to pass up.

Apple Mac Pro MD771LL/A Desktop (NEWEST VERSION)
$2,499.99
Qty: 1
Sold by: Amazon.com

Can't wait to try out FCPX! Right now it kills my maxed out mac mini. 12 cores will DESTROY the video processing. Wahahahahahahaha

Mine should be showing up tomorrow according to the tracking. Even if a new macpro was released, they wouldn't sell it this cheap I don't think. I of course have no idea what their situation is. but it's a great deal.

hehe, Watch the new one come out with 16 cores 3.33GHz, SATA III, USB 3.0 + Thunderbolt, Bluetooth 4.0, and 4 slots of PCI-e 4.0 (32, 32, 8, 8).

For $3,000 :D LOL

Amazon bumped the price up on the main listing but not everywhere.

If you look at more offers for new versions you will find the amazon prime one for 2499.

edit: interesting, the main listing is 'datavision computer video' but their own is under 'more offers'.
