Yes, I have read those post before and in the web page you mention there's nothing about this. It's suppose that it was removed from a support page at Apple, but it's strange no other web page has any reference to this support in coming betas.

Yes, it is there, I just checked.

Scroll near the bottom of the page where it says availability. It’s smaller print, perhaps that’s why you didn’t see it.

I read in another thread that MacVidCards is now offering an NVIDIA GT 630 and 640, which appear to be available in single-slot sizes with no need for supplemental power, and they have Metal support. Looks like this is exactly what I will need to boot into the system after OS updates to install the updated NVIDIA web drivers for my GTX 1060 6GB. Thanks!

All MVC GT640 sold out within a day :D (I did keep my eye on it actually, there was 4 available in less than 24 hours ago).

I think MVC will be quite busy again to make more GT630 / GT640

Anyway, it seems there still has one and only one GT630 available. Looks like a single slot, slot power, dual Display Port version. Very perfect as a GT120 10.14 replacement.

For those who looking for GT120 replacement. MVC said (in Netkas forum) that he will clarify which option is the real single slot card later. That should help us to pick the correct card.

He was talking about the part about support being added in a future beta, not the part that says 2010/2012 cMP are compatible with Mojave. That only appears (AFAIK) in the release notes.

Okay, I thought he was talking about this from the very same page... My bad...

Availability

The developer preview of macOS Mojave is available to Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com starting today, and a public beta program will be available to Mac users in late June at beta.apple.com. macOS Mojave will be available this fall as a free software update for Macs introduced in mid-2012 or later, plus 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro models with recommended Metal-capable graphics cards. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages.

That GT 630 is gone now too. I was thinking about getting it, but I think I'd rather have an AMD GPU, so I'll probably stick to the HD 7950 I bought. I noticed there is a single slot HD 7850 that would be similar to the GT 630 which is slot powered, but it looks like it is impossible to find.

This kind of highly customised single slot AMD card usually doesn't work on cMP. Of course, if it's cheap, nothing wrong to buy one and test it. But if almost unable to get. I will simply forget about it.

Those GT 630 / 640 cards look like a nice little card for boot screen and Metal support, but they sure are a bad value in terms of performance. For a similar price you could grab a GTX 680 or HD 7950 off eBay and flash it yourself. According to userbenchmark the GT 640 is over 300% slower than those 2 cards and the GT 630 is about 800% slower. Better than the GT 120 though, which is about 1,500% slower. I think a flashed 7750 may be a better option at about 200% slower. I found a refurbished single slot as low as $69.

I have strong believe that OS X Yosemite is the best for 2009 - 2012 MacPro, maximum Sierra and not HighSierra. Thats my opinion. I think these two OS performs best. ;)

While Yosemite may perform better (something I disagree with you on) it would be utterly irresponsible to suggest someone use Yosemite and have that machine on the internet. There are so many unpatched security vulnerabilities in this OS that you would need to have a complete disregard for your own data’s security and OS integrity to run it.

Depends, for me. I am using 1080Ti, Yosemite is not an option at all.

And High Sierra actually give me less issue than Sierra as long as I stay as HFS+.

However, this is base on using SSD. If using HDD, I won't go HS at all. HS is really heavily optimised for SSD, running it on HDD is really painfully slow.
