What rumours are you expecting?

The new MBP will be exactly the same as the old one with new motherboard (thunderbolt, usb3), new xeon CPUs and updated video cards.

There's no rumoured new screen to speculate about, because it doesn't include one. There's no new case design to speculate about, because it doesn't need one - the "desktop mac form factor" enclosure is a solved problem, there's no problem with the current design - hence re-tooling the factory to build something different "just because" would be stupid.

The only components that will be altered are commodity PC hardware components that any OEM can and does buy in bulk from Intel, etc.

Hence, there's no one in the supply chain who can really speculate, because there's no top secret hardware under development and certainly not floating about outside the factory in field testing, as the Mac Pro is a desktop bound box.

This is the reason you don't see Mac Pro rumours, not because apple has suddenly decided to kill their IOS developers; the boxes aren't portable, to be seen outside, and the enclosure is a solved problem.

edit:
hah. as to the clamshell candy ibook being ugly - compare to a circa 2000 model dell or thinkpad. :D

Come on . . you act like you have all the inside info on MBP's etc. Your whole post is one big guess just like everyone else.

I would bet on the new Macbook Pros not being the same thing as the old ones with just spec bumping.

A MacBook Pro with Xeon CPUs? That about sums up your post, oh mighty oracle.

If you're going to make stuff up, please try to make it plausible and proofread it.

Supermicro workstations are shipping. We've already got one hackintoshed on a thread here and I've got one due in the next few days. NewEgg, Amazon, and many others are shipping the CPUs.

Yes, HP's not shipping yet but it's not like these don't exist.

Hp is taking orders though.

Clearly, in a mac pro thread, i meant "mac pro" rather than MBP, which was a typo.

No, my point is, with this style of machine there is very little info likely to leak.

I found it interesting how the story of the possible new Macbook Pro release may be pushed up to April 23rd to get a small jump on the Ultrabooks release date. Obviously the same sentiment is absent with regard to the MP.

Check the new shipping estimate for the 8-core Mac Pro on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC561LL...HBR6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1334222783&sr=8-4

"Usually ships within 1 to 2 months"......

In Stock.
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.
Only 2 left in stock--order soon (more on the way).

And on the Apple store it all seems immediate in stock to 2-4 days for the 12 core. Seems no supply problems there.

Mine still seems to be alive and kicking. LOL.

Perhaps Apple/Intel aren't the best buddies they used to be. None of the chips seem to be showing up early in Apple Products these days.

I wonder if the MP was waiting on the 2nd gen TB controllers (now shipping). From VRzone:

"A handful of PC motherboards have also been "delayed" due to the fact that Intel hasn't gotten Cactus Ridge out of the door, but this is really a minor issue. That said, we're expecting to see Thunderbolt support on at least the new iMac and possibly the new Mac Pro systems from Apple which might be even closer to launch than a new notebook model."

What the heck is the third image on that page ?

Actually, good question. It actually it looks like the front with no cheese grater, no side door and more ports. WTF is that?

edit: just an old concept.

I assume it came from an old MacBlogz concept mock up: (someones idea of a concept last year I guess)

This actually makes the most sense to me. The new controllers are supposed to be much cheaper that the current ones.

After a quick google image search, it's a concept.

Will let you find the info from the various awful links from there.

Sadly, the folks over at VRzone know as much about a Mac Pro update as we do.

Still, I'd like to think that's the case and we will see an updated Mac Pro to include the new Thunderbolt tech on the motherboard.

It sounds like a new Mac Pro situation to me. If they were going to discontinue, custom building would occur unchanged for the next few months. This implies a changeover in the production line that prevents them from grabbing machines off the line.

Given the timing (NAB and new Xeons) I'm going to be optimistic and bet on new Mac Pros.

Tomorrow would be great. Any time before the end of April would be great. If I can grab a 2012 Mac Pro in this financial year, then I shall be a happy man.
