Could be wishful thinking, but I bet it's in the first half of the month and that's only because my experience with corporate finance departments is that most invoices need to be submitted earlier in the month to be paid prior to year end. So, if a department is thinking about squeezing in a purchase of new Mac Pros in 2013, a late-month release on Apple's part might preclude some corporate purchases until next year.
This wait is starting to get ridicules. It's December at this point they should give us a hard date of when it will be or at the very least start taking pre-orders of the thing.
I wonder if they are having production problems with the new facility? I don't really like buying the first generation of anything but in this case I have little choose.
Maybe they don't yet know when it will ship, and don't want to take pre-orders until they know when they can build and ship them.
Little point in taking pre-orders now if volume shipments will be delayed until mid-February....
I sure hope that's not the case. I need to get this thing ordered and paid for in 2013![]()

So do I, for tax reasons obviously.
You'd still get the tax benefit - just in tax year 2014.
You may be lucky, though, a Dell T3610 with an E5-1620v2 (3.7GHz quad) shows a shipping date of tomorrow in their online store....
Anyone have an idea of when Apple will release the MacPro? Ads said coming in Decemebr.l

Do people really still think these things will ship this year?this year?![]()
When is the last time Apple didn't hit a date they talked about ? The iMac dragged out till Nov 30 2012 but they made November and the 27" models made December.
(Remember the PowerMac G4 AGP 500 MHz - infinite slippage.)
But there were lots of backorders for Imacs that didn't make it until January.
Will Apple meet the deadline if they ship one unit in December? Maybe they can count the (Red) unit.
How about ten units, or a hundred, or a thousand?
While I wouldn't put the bar at having 99% of the Apple stores have units in stock ready for walk-ins,
my experience with ordering E5-v2 servers makes me think that it will be a slow ramp up (and my ProLiants don't have the double-whammy of waiting for T-Bolt2 controllers).

The whole point of not talking about dates or date ranges in advance is so that when do announce them they are pretty solid.
If Apple doesn't make December or 2013 they are going to have a even bigger creditability problem than they do now in this space. They have told folks for over a year 2013 was it.
Some of the angst seems to be more so wanting to spend the Mac Pro money so can't prematurely spend it on other BlackFriday/CyberMonday/Year-end-blow-out super deals on something else.
If pessimistically shooting for the "end point" constraint then Dec 20th (end of Fall) would be their 'as late as possible' date.
At best they will get some units out to more high profile customers for PR and damage control purposes. The general public won't get near one of these things till next year sometime. I would even go as far as saying Order in Dec, ship by late January, maybe even pushing into Feb.
I don't see anybody else shipping with the latest Xeons, so this may turn out to be true.
