Dell is quoting next-day shipping on T3610 with the same quad E5-v2 as the base Mac Mini Pro.

One processor only. I doubt Apple will release the Mac Pro and then say "available in 2 months" for the other 3 CPU configs.

Actually, Dell has

Code:
    T3610
         E5-1607v2 quad, 3.0GHz 4 Dec 2013
         E5-1620v2 quad, 3.7GHz 4 Dec 2013
    T5610

I wonder why the secret release of this computer. Why not just tell us "Dec 15th - orders will be take".

It's not like there'll be lines outside the Apple stores like the release of a new iPhone or iPad.

End of Dec will be either when they "start taking Pre-Orders" or announce another slide.

I stick to my original prediction for "in store availability"….2/14/14.

Guessing delay is due to production / volume issues.

Apple really blew it by announcing nMP in June with "Coming This Fall". Then…"coming in December"….then…TBD.

Apple with SJ - "One More Thing…."
Apple with TC - "One More Slide…."

Maybe you're right about February, but there hasn't been a single "delay" yet. We're still in the Fall and it's still December...and the Apple website still says "coming in December" not "TBD." At this point there's no reason to think that the nMP won't be available this month -- it's what Apple has said all along.

I'd consider the relative lack of E5-v2 workstation configs from the other major players, and especially the absence of CPU choices in the BTO menus of the ones that have E5-v2 systems announced as ample reason for concern. Intel is slowly ramping production, and the big ticket servers are getting what's available.

My prediction is that Apple will ship a few systems in December, probably before the 21st so that they ship in "Fall" to meet the MacWorld SF 2013 forecast, but that volume shipments won't happen until towards the end of January or later.

Fall is technically till 12/20 so it's just another less than 3 weeks should there be no more delays.

I'd just like to get the tax credit in 2013 instead of 2014.

Look on the bright side - even though your Mac Mini Pro arrives in 2014, in the end the result is the same. Pay more in 2013 and pay less in 2014, vs pay less in 2013 and pay more in 2014.

If the latter is important to you, it's time to get help from a financial planner.

Some of the lower volume sellers seem to have pretty much everything. I bought from thinkmate and I see all 2600v2s and only one of them shows a delay: http://www.thinkmate.com/system/vsx-r4-710

Though, I notice they are using the i7-49xx, not 1600v2s on the single processor systems: http://www.thinkmate.com/system/vsx-r4-510

Silicon Mechanics shows all the 2600v2s in the drop down, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some processors might still be on delay from them, as they tend to just put everything up there for you pick from then a sale’s rep deals with you more individually to go over everything. http://www.siliconmechanics.com/i50329/4-drive-xeon-server.php

AvaDirect also shows pretty much all 2600v2s on a quick skim: http://www.avadirect.com/workstation-pc-configurator.asp?PRID=27171

HP also seems to have all the V2s and I configured a few machines and went as far as entering my payment method and never did it say shipping would be delayed.

I think this could just be a Dell thing.

Because there is an unresolved problem somewhere. It may be at Apple or it may be with a supplier. In any case Apple does not have a reliable estimate of when that problem will be resolved. If they did have a good estimate they could set and announce a date with a reasonable expectation of meeting it. I can not imagine a reason why failing to set a date would be to Apple's advantage so I must assume this condition is imposed on them.

I much rather apple take pre-orders so at least i know somewhat of what's going on and the cost and not string us a long. I would bet money that they are taking orders at the end of december and it won't ship till mid/late January.
