And if you have a Mac Pro, its a good thing to show off. So why not get if off the floor where people can see it?
I'm not really one for pomp I'd rather keep my workspace usable.

Haha, I can definitely see that happening. There bloody heavy!Im affraid it will break my desk, and one morning I will wake up and see my mac pro and my 30 inch apple cinema display on the floor ontop of my audio mixing linux box.

Thats why you need a BIG desk, I can have 3 mac pros with 3 24" LED ACD on top of my desk and still have a more than enough usable workspace.![]()
Reminds me of the movie sunshine... sooo.... bright....

lol, I was franticly looking for exposure settings in photobooth, then I realized its photobooth
Great, tell me when you wake up in the night to a loud bang, and see everything broken on the floor. Im afraid for my 30 inch display, it weights I think about 40 pounds. Never buy your desk from bobs discount furniture!
My setups is:
Nehalem Mac Pro 8-Core 2.26GHz
Unibody MacBook Pro 15" 2.66GHz
24" LED Cinema Display

High Quality Shot of my set up.
Also, though not really a mac pro, if this was 1992 it would be like one. This is my commodore amiga 4000 video toaster with highflyer expander. This this can run 8 NTSC monitorsAnd it has 5 hard drives, not bad for 1992 tech. I have one cause it was the first non-linear video editing computer.
Sure the desk is small, but work's great for me...
Nevermind the desk, what's that chair thingy and how do you use it? Looks awesome!
jjahshik32 said:looks like the new nehalem mac pros are using 2 big fans in their heatsinks where the ram is located. And I hear another fan inside the main heatsink where the CPUs are located.
I would highly recommend keeping it on top of a desk to lessen the dust build up especially the ease of opening up the panel once every few weeks to clean dust out with those air cans.
Never posted an image into a thread but here goes...

Awesome on the toaster and A4000!!!
I have the A4000T and four A4000 desktops still. All packed away in the garage nice and snug. A CDTV too - the 1st one.

What are you talking about? No way I'd put my pro on top of the desk.
As if it'd make that much difference anyway.
can u put up a link to that keyboard, thats looks sooo cool!
Also to all the editors out there: Are NTSC monitors really needed? 1 monitor costs more then my entire set upI have 2 NTSC monitors for my commodore, should I hook them up to my pro instead?
It depends what you're doing. In my case, I shoot everything in HD, but I have to downconvert a lot of footage for use on our cable newscast. It's easy to accidentally introduce interlace problems in that process, so I preview every newscast on an NTSC CRT to make sure everything is working correctly.
That said, I personally feel that while NTSC monitors are useful, they're not an absolute requirement for a lot of work. Between the fact that everyone is moving toward HD (and HD sets are much more tolerant of vibrant reds, bright whites, etc than NTSC sets are) and the fact that programs like Final Cut have a lot of built-in monitoring tools, you can do most editing without an NTSC monitor.
2X on that! My first 'real' computer was the Amiga... started with a 500 in '90, moved up to the A1200 in '92. Still one of the most impressive OS's to date... the thing would boot in 10 seconds flat with a 33mhz 68030 and 8mb ram!! True preemptive multitasking way back then.
Now I just run my Amiga stuff via Emulation, it's ridiculously fast.
Here is a crazy screenshot for you... An Emulated Amiga running WB 3.1 on Windows XP MCE which is a VM inside of Fusion running on the Mac:
Thanks, I saw your set up and I was like oh no, I have some old NTSC monitors but I don't use them with my work, Im doing it wrong. Would you consider an 30inch ACD good enough for checking HD? Also is it true that NTSC stands for never the same color? I didn't believe it but I dont know.
My Amiga is tons of fun! It has the highflyer expansion top which adds way more imputs and out puts, 2 power supplies, and 4x 120MB hard disk drives. And I got it all for free! Got to love schools not knowing anything about computers!
