Europe
We are all human and most of us like to follow the majority. 27% sales disappear in just a year, 34% quarterly, much less people buy Mac now, then would you stop buying new Mac in future and why?
People that purchased an Apple Silicon Mac are simply happy with what they have.

Hi!
Country is beautiful but it has become crime capital of Europe because of incompetent governance. Good old Peaceful community has more violence than any other developed countries.
Hi Kottu,
I am sorry to hear that. I hope the situation will change in the next few years.
Best regards,
Schnitzel

I stopped buying new macs.
I have a few all before 2016. Just picked up a mint mbp 15" mid 2015 the other day.
Running Ventura (avoiding sonoma atm). Undervolted the CPU, Repasted CPU & GPU's with thermal grizzly. Runs at max clocks without throttling while increasing battery life. Next will be an 8TB SSD (mp600) for around $600 - $650. (currently has a 2TB nvme installed). Apple charge $2200 extra for 8TB on their highest end mbp's. The basic 14" is limited to 2TB so you don't even have the option.

After 2015 Macs went full *****. The soldered on everything BS, the exorbitant storage costs when configuring a new one. If a nand flash goes bad it's basically a paper weight. Nah I'll stick with old macs for as long as possible. For desktop, I'll stick to hacks for as long as possible also. Latest Mac Pro utterly disappointing and extremely overpriced for what it is. Doesn't even support GPU upgrades anymore FFS.

My Mac passion? LOL. I'm not one of those people that wants to have an erotic relationship with inanimate objects. It's a tool and it works really well. I just bought an M3 Max 14", so I did my part to give it a bump, but Apple Silicon is so good, I don't see most people needing to upgrade that often. I'm hoping to keep this one in service until around 2030. It's a beast!

People don't upgrade every year and Apple doesn't need to release a new machine every year even though they choose to. A lot of people bought the 2021 MacBooks which were sold up until January 2023, so there was really no incentive for those people to upgrade to the M2 MacBook Pros. With proper care, MacBooks can last for more than 5 years. I don't anticipate the Mac sales will go back up unless there is a major redesign or the addition of something else like Face ID or under-display camera.

Apple sells the whole user experience including form factor and design. Why would a mere spec bump from M2 to M3 make for a year of new sales records for the Mac? 2023 was the year of the Vision Pro announcement. Everything else is somewhat on hold for as long as the engineering teams finalize a brand-new product.

Also I been using Macs since 2019 and I don't see myself going back to Windows PC unless they come out with something that is cutting edge. From a programming and development perspective, it is so much easier to work on Mac since macOS is a Unix based operating system.

You wouldn't want to "invest" in a dying platform, but that's hardly the case here.
I disagree. I purchased my first Mac because it was a dying platform at the time, and I wanted to try it (A Powerbook 190 that I purchased used for $500).

For me, it's a work tool, not a passion. If this trend continues for multiple years then there will be a reason to worry when considering buying a Mac, as software developers will have less of an incentive to support the Mac platform. But that is only possible if Windows or Linux get significantly better, and, in that case, it won't be a big downgrade to switch away. As of now, the Mac platform is still better than the alternatives for almost any professional, so I'd be surprised if Macs stopped getting good support in the foreseeable future.

The problem is if mac sales continue to decline. Mac software becomes exponentially more expensive to develop and support/maintain. Then if the bean counters get involved, budgets get cut and the software loses it's competitive edge and slowly dies. Remember Aperture?
Now we have folks using Final Cut that are gradually moving over to DaVinci Resolve.
Final Cut isn't really making the cut anymore. I still use it, because it's what I'm used to.
The bad news for Apple is you can use DaVinci Resolve in Linux, and all these old Intel Macs that are on the cusp of being made obsolete when software stops supporting Intel, can run on Linux. Personally I don't have any hope for Windows. If anything that will keep getting worse, because.. Microsoft.

P.s. Still Linux is far from close to delivering anything like Mac OS user experience.

The only major thing that would cause me to stop using Apple's products is if Apple compromises their approach to privacy and security. If anything, Macs becoming more popular is bad for security. More users means more targeting of the OS & ecosystem and makes it more difficult for Apple to keep on top of threats. And no, there's nothing that could make me move back to MS's malware short of a radical overhaul and realignment of their entire company and OS.

This is similar to my fear and why Apple needs to focus on high end SoC. The Ultras, while great for what it is, isn’t very good being “the best you can ever get for a mac”. If more people move away from Mac’s due to lack of focus on the Pro end, it will cascade down to normal consumers by losing software and support etc.

I really like my base M2 MBA. It is a great computer and does everything I need. An earnings report has no impact on how I feel about this device.

Besides, these reports generally reflect larger economic realities rather than the viability of the Mac.
