Do these sudden shady card transactions mean anything? Or are they just getting their beans in before tax year end?
I doubt Apple is doing much cash based accounting. They book their revenue when their products are delivered and are sitting on a Mt. Everest of cash.

I think charging your card is a sign of progress and hopefully your order will be 'preparing to ship' very soon.

Also in the UK. My banking app showed a pending transaction a couple of days ago and the order status has jumped to “preparing to ship” this evening.

The payment is still showing as pending and my delivery estimate is still 21-27 April so presumably it will still be a while before it actually ships.

FWIW my Mac Studio delivered five days (3/18) after my card was charged (3/13). So I guess I should hope to see my display charge go through any day now, est delivery is 4/7 - 4/14.

I'm in the stuck in Shanghai camp....UPS has no clue.. Apple says it's coming by Wed 4/6. I ordered the day after the launch 3/9.
Yep: also been stuck in Shanghai since 3/30 with Apple-estimated delivery of Wed 4/6. I'm betting we still get this before Wednesday. I was hoping for movement this morning/afternoon for delivery by Monday, but most likely Tuesday at this point.

I’m with you guys, UPS say’s “check back tomorrow”. I just wish I could see some movement on my Studio Display.

I ordered the Mac Studio and Studio Display together, but stalked my local Apple Stores' inventories for a Studio Display and lucked out. Felt like overkill at the time, but glad I did it now.

Based in my experience that’s what happened to me. My guess is you’ll get it Tuesday. UPS Flight 91 goes all the way in over from Shanghai to Louisville in a 24 hour period. Once it departs Shanghai you’re off to the races.

Kind of related, does anyone have an idea of where the Studio Displays are shipping from?
I assume it's shipping in country. Mine shipped today, and it says "UPS Ground" as the service level with a Tuesday delivery. On the UPS side, it's just a label, and it only has my city (not my address), so it's not in my UPS account yet (only viewable using the tracking number I got from Apple).

An update:
  • Configuration: Max/32/32/1TB
  • Ordered: March 18
  • Shipping to: Western Canada
  • Delivery Estimate: Apr 18-25
  • Credit Card Charged: March 29
  • Shipping: April 1
  • UPS Estimated Delivery: Tuesday, April 5
  • Apple Estimated Delivery: Monday, April 11
I'm not optimistic that UPS will make their stated date, but even if things slip to Apple's projection, that's 1-2 weeks earlier than my original timeline, and that's a nice surprise.

The major sticking point is UPS. My timeline is similar to yours and it will have been 2 weeks earlier if it arrives on Tuesday as scheduled

Agreed. With past orders, both during and pre-pandemic, I have found Apple's estimate to be much closer to my actual delivery.

My Mac Studio arrived today (I was in the 3/26 group in Shanghai)! Studio display still stuck in processing. I ordered late afternoon/early evening of 8 March. Display is still estimated for 7-14 April, which it has been since I ordered.

Got mine today (Max, 64GB, 1TB). Up and running, getting files transferred. Then I'm redoing apps from scratch to get a clean start.
It's amazing how little Apple tells new users about the Mac. I'm glad I know so much about them.

same here.

- Original Apple estimate April 7-14
- UPS estimate earlier this week was April 1
- Last update on UPS site was Shanghai scan on March 30 (no movement for two days)

oh well, i would've preferred to set everything up and rearrange my desk over the weekend, but it'll get here when it gets here.

Finally decided to replace my aging 2015 27" iMac. Per Geekbench, there some be some nice gains over that setup. I went with the base model Mac Studio but upgraded storage (2 TB) and ram (64 GB) because i tend to hold on to my desktops for 7-8 years.

Should be coming in June.

I also paired it with the studio display (height + tilt adjustment) and black keyboard and touchpad. Can't wait!!
