I swear I just type normally.
I've broken a brand new keycap in the past on an MS surface 2 - just typing too, it can happen.

The clips that hold the keycaps to the scissor mechanism are unbelievably tiny. Easy to get a rare faulty part that slips though QC, I'm sure. Still annoying, but hopefully not an ongoing issue

From your OP, the picture looks to show the clips at the top of the keycap have snapped, or the part of the scissor mechanism the keycap clips on to has snapped. The switch itself is probably probably fine... I'm guessing if you poke it, you still get the .

The 48hrs from Apple sounds like typical Apple Store BS... Either you need an whole new machine (the entire keyboard is riveted to the unibody), or they're just going to clip a new key, and/or scissor mechanism in place.

It’s always so ****ing weird how some macrumors posters jump to defend apple over every tiny perceived slight.

If that describes you reevaluate your life. It’s beyond pathetic to build your identity around worshipping a company that produces consumer electronics.
You can turn that argument around. Things are built by humans, humans make mistakes and things break, tough but ultimately a first world problem. Have it replaced under warranty and move on, rather than bemoan how bad and evil manufacturer X,Y or Z is...

To be used by Graphic Designers, Web Developers, Programers.

APPLE can't make a Quality Keyboard?? Like IBM Thinkpad?

These THIN low Profile Keyboards are CRAP. Just like making them super THIN so they get HOT.

While I think the new keyboards are generally fine, I don’t think they compare to the 2011 ones. The one on my 17” is amazing to type on, so much more give and motion in the keys.

Hmm that's true ,i confused the o with a ç somehow

Why don't u like CA layout ? I think it's the best for English+french typing

Or should I say , qwerty us is good for English in default layout, and QWERTY CA for french.

Qwerty us will work well with everything IG.works well in Hebrew too
A bit off-topic, but I use Qwerty US International. When I was young, I had a keyboard with this layout, I don't know why. It got on my nerves at first, because I came from a French Canadian keyboard, but then I got used to it.

Then when I became a teenager I realized it's easier to code with this layout. These characters are easier to access : <>{}[]

Easier to program IN Qwerty US International, it's harder in French Canadian. Every time I help someone at work, I waste like two minutes on the line because the person can't find [] or {} or <> on their keyboard. I end up putting it in the chat and they copy-paste it.

Electric chair ? It's illegal here ?

i love just how intense some people are getting on this thread, kinda funny..

Keyboards on this gen have been odd for me, went through 4 replacements before getting one that had no defects!

These are exactly the same keyboards as the external magic keyboards and the pre-butterfly keyboards. There is nothing unusual about this generation, and scattered anecdotes do not mean a thing.

in my case the first 3 had keys that got stuck + one had a spacebar that would just constantly stay pressed down... Magic Keyboard and older 2015 keyboard feel totally different to me

The hardware is identical.
not entirely. they're both scissor switches sure, but that doesn't mean they're literally ripped out of a 2015 MacBook Pro / Air. They mentioned in the keynote that they have a more "mechanical" feel on these new ones.

They definitely feel different to my M1 MacBook Air, and 15-inch 2015 rMBP

where did they compare the current “mechanical“ feel to the old scissor keyboards in the keynote? I can’t find a single mention of the old scissor keyboards in the keynote. Citation please.

They didn't do a side by side comparison, but the presenter said (just after bringing back the function keys) that it has a "mechanical feeling that pros love"

Obviously im no keyboard expert, just stating how it feels to me!
