I HUNGER
SG. I wanted Silver, but I've never had a SG and I'm only keeping this M1 Air until the 16" comes out. I thought it was a good chance to test out SG and see how it looks. I Wife will get this one when I'm finished and she doesn't care what color it is.

I actually had a Ti Power Book or whatever it was called and the color sat between silver and SG IIRC.

I have space grey MacBook Pro. Small scratches on edges are very visible. So, in retrospective, I would buy silver. Maybe space grey look more cool, well, if you use your device outside, silver is more forgiving option.
I have a silver MBA from years ago, but a few months ago I bought the space grey MBP. The space grey looks great but I agree, it's a lot easier to see scratches and marks on it compared to the silver, so I'm being extra careful with this one.

I've had both. Space Grey is a very elegant, professional looking laptop, but I find myself more productive on Silvers. They run better, in my experience, and the bright design is more inviting, mood boosting. Space Grey is a crazy fingerprint magnet and wears out faster. I think the only reason SG has been winning these polls is the novelty factor. People were bored of using Silver for decades, but now the demand is rising again.

Silver one age really well. Scratches and dents are less noticeable. There are also reported situation where the palm rest gets discolored overtime on the space grey version especially if you put on hand creams or lotion or your sweat is more on the acidic side.

I know this is an old thread, and I bought mine back in February, but I bought (and voted for) silver. My previous MacBook Pro, which my wife has now, was space gray and seems to show fingerprints more readily. However, I'm not really that picky and either option, even the gold option, would be totally acceptable to me.

The only thing I don't like is Apple tends to pair the lighter "silver" aluminum with white keyboard keys for the desktop. I'm not a fan of white keyboards, for whatever reason. Hopefully the next MBA revision keeps its black keyboard.

My last machine was from summer 2013 and I thought I'd go for something else.
Same for my iPad Pro 12.9. Even though I went for the White Magic Keyboard I decided to go with Space Gray to switch it up. This is my first device since my silver 2013 MBP. I do feel like the silver might have looked better with the MKB but I’m wrapping it anyway.

Silver.

The new Silver is actually darker than the 2015 Macbook Pro silver. I like it.
Yes it is.

SILVER, the 10+year old color, VS a 3-4 year old color. It's the novelty factor. If we switch places, and the silver were the new model, people would find Space Grey dull and boring. Everyone would line up for the Silver.

I may personally get Space Gray since I've had a Silvers for 7 years. However, Silver is still the brighter, more inviting color.

I opted for the Silver model of the M1 MacBook Air, because I figured with the impending M1X Mac Mini Apple may make a version with Space Gray colors or similar, and I figured I'd go with Space Gray for a higher-end desktop and Silver for a mid-range laptop.

Space Grey looks awesome and is the better looking of the two, but the palm rests can fade/discolor. I don't think that's an issue on the Silver so I'd probably get that instead.

Black and silver keyboard contrast provides with a more pleasant typing experience. Keys are visually more separated, accessible.

Both colors look good. I took Space Gray this time as I don't have problems to find the keys ;-) and I am quite satisfied with my decision.
I would like silver better, if it was a real silver like the one on the new Siri Remote.
Apples Macbook silver looks more like champagne under most lighting conditions. I do not really like this as it looks to elegant to me. I also do not like the silver frame around the display.
