So I just purchased the top line 16 inch and experiencing some lagging on the videos im watching on Youtube, etc. It'll have a "one" second skip/stutter. This also happens when I'm typing as well.

I transferred all my data from my old Macbook Pro to this one (16 inch) which didn't have any issues.

Anyone experiencing this? If so, how did you fix it.

Thanks.

Yes, I have faced the exact same issue, not only typing and video, but also when playing games.
For a $2000+ laptop, having these sort of lags is really unacceptable.
I hope they issue a fix real soon.

I find this very strange but I experience an annoying delay when typing on Word, Pages and Notes (the problem is less visible there).
Do we have some explanation ?

Could be something that occurred during the transfer that's bogging things down and causing the lag.

Turn font smoothing off in General Pane of System Preferences.
See if this works.
I will try this soon. Thanks so much !

I'm going to try Fravins suggestion. Do you have any idea of what could’ve happened or what I can do to fix it? Thank you

I just bought a new 16 inch, 2.4 ghz i9 32gb RAM, I didnt backup from any other computers and kept the install fresh (no migration assistant).
As im typing this, the computer is stuttering and doing a small freeze. Scrolling this site causes a stutter/freeze as well.

you can reliably replicate the freeze by doing different types of actions. Clicking into and out of chrome can cause a freeze.
Github Desktop freezes frequently if you try to fetch, push, or commit.

Going to the menu bar and click the username, then click Login Window can cause a 10 sec lag or more.

sounds like exactly the same as the issue described here https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...w-mbp-16.2213462/?post=28020983#post-28020983

its an issue related to the integrated graphics.

I think more people are likely to notice this as a video stutter issue than typing or scrolling.

My video stutters from a fraction of a second up to around 1 second. Tested in safari, chrome and on a different user account.

Also switched off automatic graphics switching and issue persists.

Strangely, I have only noticed it today for the first time but it happens all the time so I am sure I would have noticed it before. Only installed a couple of chrome extensions since yesterday though... removed them now but lag is still there.

I am also experiencing these issues on the latest Macbook Pro 16 inch (as of this writing).

Chrome or Safari, the videos on youtube do freeze even they are already loaded. Trust me, no bandwidth issues here.

Also issues with typing at times, brief lag. Not adding the issues with clicking sound when I am skipping a playing video or music.

Not acceptable. Given the price tag, and the technology under the hood. I want to be able to rely on this machine to do my professional work.

I also have the new 16" MacBook pro - when in finder (column mode) it takes a second to load going through the menu's from column to column. The display is first gray then quickly turns black. I replaced a 15" 5 year old mac Book pro running 10.11 and didn't have any of these issues. Had to do a manual copy of my data because Migration Assistant didn't work. I paid a lot of money to have a new MacBook Pro with a solid state hard drive - didn't expect it to be slower than my 5 year old one. Boots up super fast, but then it lags badly. Anyone have any suggestions

10.15.2 did not resolve this issue for me. I'm right on the edge on whether or not to keep this laptop. Issues like this is making me lean towards returning it.

12th December 2019 > I am having serious ghosting / lagging problems when using gmail or any other web browsers services (including this post tho the lagging is less significant) - it takes over 5 seconds on gmail to show recent types and nearly 10 seconds when interacting with formatting section. Brand new laptop, no clutter whatsoever.

System Preferences > General > Use font smoothing when available > OFF.

Changing that took care of ~80% of lags on my new 16" MacBookPro. The other 20% was fixed by disabling graphic card switching. Before turning off the font smoothing I couldn't browse on Chrome or edit text while coding. Now I don't see any lags.

I've filed a bug report with Apple couple of days ago so hope they will fix this in their next software update. Until then, this is the workaround.

I ended up doing a full re-install of the OS. Its fixed this issue right away... no idea what caused it and I hope it does not come back!

I will be doing full system time machine backups for now so I can roll back quickly if it re-appears due to a bit of software or configuration causing issues.

It's been around 1 month since I'm using this machine(16" base model) and experiencing same issues like:
  • Lagging while typing text
  • screen halts while doing video meeting on Zoom or Skype
  • Sometimes switching between apps also causes a delay for 1-2 seconds which is so annoying
  • Screen shutters while watching youtube videos and system hangs for sometime(No respond to click or keyboard)
  • Touch control panel also sometimes gets stuck while using it for skipping songs etc.

Hey, would be curious to know if turning "Font Smoothing" off might help you at all. I'm not sure if its placebo, I need more time to evaluate, but it seems to have helped me quite a bit. (I've not changed anything else, e.g., automatic graphics switching - I've left that on.)

Experiencing the same thing the other users have reported. I tried turning font smoothing off and we'll see if that helps. (Work provided) $4200 machine... Kill me... This is so annoying.

Quick UPDATE HERE - I literally went through 5 brand new computers and out of the box with NOTHING loaded on to them they were swift and no issues even on chrome. Did not restore any of them. I then downloaded all my apps such as office and adobe apps from scratch, signed into icloud and that's when the problem started occurring again. So I do think it is a software problem somewhere. Thanks all
