It will end, pure and simple. Back in the PPC days there was a product called Virtual PC, which was an emulator, and that ran dog slow. There could be something similar made available for an ARM based Mac, or even some sort of hack to make the ARM based windows to run on Apple's Ax chips but I think for intents and purposes the ability to easily run windows on a mac will end.I wonder what will happen with Windows support under Mac - both Boot Camp and VMs such as Parallels.
I did as a new machine but used iCloud. I have 15,000 photos and 18,000 emails and a few good programs. Seems better now. Guess it may have been indexing? Although last night I was in iPhoto deleting some, editing a little, viewing and computer got quiet warm again!Did you take a backup from your old machine or installed a new system?
In my case I took a TM backup and the fan noise was a kind of disturbing. Then I performed a complete reset and installed macOS. But it is still kind of noisy.

In my case almost any action outside of the OS (Lightroom, Photos App) causes a fan noise. Ok, the Time machine is still running. Maybe it makes the MBP getting warmer...I did as a new machine but used iCloud. I have 15,000 photos and 18,000 emails and a few good programs. Seems better now. Guess it may have been indexing? My dsp only had a program built on Windows. Just recently they released a Mac version that’s super buggie. I expect there is way more programs using windows than Mac.I could never understand why people would want to run Windows on a Mac, it would be like taking the badge off a BMW and replacing it with one from a Skoda.

Often the same apps on MacOS have also much reduced functionality, like MS Office or Quicken.Ok fair point, I didn't think about apps. I hate Windows with a passion, I recently tried using a Surface Pro 6 and one of the things I couldn't get use to was Windows again. It felt so inferior to MacOS. I suppose a lot of people have to use Windows not by choice but for work, especially if you can't get the apps you want on a Mac.

Believe it or not, there are apps that run better on windows, then there are people who prefer windows. I disagree with the idea that windows is some sort of inferior OS. Both platforms have advantages and disadvantages.I could never understand why people would want to run Windows on a Mac, it would be like taking the badge off a BMW and replacing it with one from a Skoda.

I found windows to be very stable, fast and supports a raft more hardware then Macs. Want to run Mojave with a computer that uses an nvidia gpu - good luck with that. Need a device driver for an old scanner on the Mac? Good luck, I've personally ran into that issue and I needed to boot into windows
To each his own, and one size doesn't fit all, that doesn't mean that your preference is superior in any way, its just different.
Yes makes sense .... wondering if I need all 15k! Lol!!!Yes, one of the things I use Windows on Mac for is some very sophisticated mail merge stuff that can’t be done on the Mac. My Windows use is strictly based on needing certain apps. That said, Windows/Parallels is zippy on Mac, but my heavy duty performance needs are on Mac thankfully.

Your MacBook Pro will go thru a sync with photos with iCloud that can easily take days- you can see it in process at the bottom of the photos app. This could be a contributor as well.
That's why I said one size doesn't fit all Perhaps its because I've had my hand in PCs since MS Dos 2.11 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯My experience has been the opposite, I used Windows machines before switching to Mac in 2011 with my MacBook Pro. More recently (November 2018) I purchased a Surface Pro 6, while it wasn't terrible and was in fact better than Windows machines I had used all those years ago, it still wasn't the best. For me MacOS is much more stable, reliable and more refined. In fact I think they made Windows worse in some ways, definitely by adding touch screens and by making Windows compatible with touch, something I hope Apple never do!
As you say it's each to their own.

The 2019 MBP is certainly improved over the 2018 in number of ways and as always Apple continues to design something that is very beautiful. Overall, however, I'm not really tempted, for me there's a number of factors that push the 2019 MBP into the do not buy category. These are all personal and by no means universal and everyone should avoid the MBP because my reasons. Keyboard, both the look and feel and the peace of mind regarding the durability/longevity. Value for my money, I get more computer for less imo, and sealed vs upgradeable. There are aspects that I miss with macOS, to be sure, but by the same token, if I move off windows, back to the Mac there will be things I miss with the Windows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For me and my work, windows is certainly a better fit, though my preference and enjoyment of the Mac and macOS has kept me in the fold all these years.
I was able to test out a base 15" with the i7 yesterday (I have the mid-tier 15" 2.3/16/512/560X model). I was only really able to run Cinebench r20 and monitor the temps and clocks with Intel Power Gadget. Lets just say I was glad I got the i9 actually.
My findings (no screenshots - again just happened to get to play around with a co-workers machine for about 20 minutes): The i7 actually was running hotter - much hotter with power limit throttling due to the high temps. Cinebench r20 scores were around 2200-2300 with fans maxed out. Compared to 3100ish on my 2.3 i9 version. The other thing is that on the i7 it immediately hits 100c and stays there pretty much the whole time while the power and clock speeds slowly decrease. I found the i7 typically stays around 2.7-2.9ghz after the initial spike to 100c, while the pkg power gradually lowers to about 43-45W. My i9 actually never hits 100c even after numerous Cinebench runs in a row. Clock speeds stay around 3.0ghz (and again 8 vs 6 cores) while the temps tend to max out around 90-92c with the pkg power staying around 52-54W.
I have to take off for now, but let me know if you have any more questions. I might be able to play around again with it next week.
Here are the results from my machine (2.6/16/512/555X)- just Cinebench r20. Anyhow I've returned it as I need more SSD + decided to go for vega so will switch to 8 cores.
Overall impression is really positive - dead silent for most of daily tasks, I've heard fans only with FCP X rendering and multiple RAW photos editing. Didn't notice any problems with overheating/high temps.

I liked this video. Spot on. Thats why Im getting it. Ready for some power. Slimmer than the Scar and does way better on CPU hammering thermal performance.Credit where credit is due
Closest I've been in years of picking up a new 15" MBP, just mindful that 2020 will be a redesign.

No it’s bc Apple is going ARM and leaving x86 in the dust
