I've been looking for a sleeve for my macbook po retina 15 for at least a month. I can't find a proper one where I can put charger and external drive. I'm almost giving up and buying a normal one, but not even the classic ones seems to fit well the retina models...

Look at the link in my comment right above your post. It has a lot of extra storage and you can take off the long strap and use it as a sleeve only.

Just a heads up: Speck has 15% off MBP cases as an early BF deal. Brings it to $42.46. Still a little expensive in my book, but a nice gesture. I think I'll wait till next week to see what they specials they'll have.

Hi I just bought a 2013 retina pro and now I'm looking for cases. I would like a messenger bag and sleeve. Has anyone bought anything from the " Laptop skin shop?" Sorry I couldn't get the link. Thanks everyone.

Are there any computer backpacks that you'd actually dare to put your expensive computer in, without also having to put it in a case? I have a generic backpack and the laptop compartment is probably big enough to hold three 17" laptops stacked  I want an all-in-one solution with a tight fit for my 15" rMBP.

And while we're at it, are there any "sleeves with handles" that are cleverly disguised as a handbag-ish object a woman would actually wear for fashion and not necessity?

I bought this one, I am really pleased by its quality.

Had a very disappointing experience with the Speck hard shell on my 13" MBA, which cracked a corner off in one day of use. Transported in a neoprene sleeve.

Replaced it with a Power Support Air Jacket when I arrived in Tokyo, and after 11 months and 150,000 air miles it still looks like new. In the past 6 months have dispensed with the extra sleeve. It slides into a zippered pocket in my Porter briefcase.

So, not even bothering with anything else for my new Retina 13" MBP. Going straight to Power Support for the appropriate shell.

I went with a Kuzy case (translucent black), an Amazon basics sleeve (black), and an uppercase keyboard cover (clear). I've been using all three for a couple months now and can't say enough good things about all of them! The Kuzy is perfect. I snapped it on the second I took the laptop out of the box. It's got a nice soft touch finish that's nice to feel. I haven't had any problems with it and it covers everything I need it to while leaving heat vents for heat in the bottom and cut outs for the speakers on the bottom edges. The uppercase keyboard cover is also great. It does make a little difference in the feel of typing, but it's worth it to me to keep dust, crumbs, and anything else out of the inside and off of the keys. It also does make the keys a little bit lighter in color; makes them a dark grey instead of black. The Amazon basics sleeve is perfect too. Snug fit (but not too snug), and a good thickness of neoprene. I use that whenever I put it in my back pack. My 13" rMBP looks brand new still. I'd give the Kuzy and sleeve 5/5 and the uppercase keyboard cover a 4/5 just for the change in key feel and making the keys a little lighter.

PS
This is my first post on here. Hope to post more soon!

Retina MacBook Pro Bags, Sleeves, and Cases Thread

I actually just took a look at those while I was at Best Buy today. With the 2 minutes I spent with it, I decided it was not worth the $80. It was difficult to unzip and seemed unnecessarily bulky. Of course, I don't carry any accessories with me when I take my laptop around. Also, I'm not really sure that it would be as shock absorbent as it may look. My overall impression was that I would not buy one.

On the other hand, if you need to carry power bricks, a mouse, keyboard, etc. then it might fit the bill. The zipper might also get easier with use.

Thanks for the reply. I typically just throw my power cord in my backpack so I just need a sleeve. I like the fact that it's waterproof just in case my backpack zipper leaks. Any other opinions/suggestions would be much appreciated!!

My opinions are the ones in the post stated right above your first one.

I use a Kuzy snap on case, an Amazon basics ($10) neoprene sleeve, and an uppercase keyboard cover.

I bought speck snap on case tonight and don't like it. After 15 minutes I took it off due to the fact that the screen doesn't close tight and the tabs that hold it on are going to break off. I think I'll be good with a nice sleeve. I'm super careful with my computers normally. My MacBook from 2008 looks brand new and I never used a case.

In that case (no pun intended), I would highly recommend the Kuzy. It closes fine and the tabs seem sturdy. It has a really nice soft finish that feels amazing

My buddy has the Kuzy and I guess the rubber feet fell off of it, so he told me to stay away from that one. I don't think I want a plastic shell after trying out the Speck for awhile. I think a good sleeve will be the best option for me. I saw the Thule and liked it, but don't know if it's worth the money.

There use to be a company that made sleeves that looked similar to these (http://www.woolnutcovers.com/products/macbook-pro-retina-13) but all leather and was super customizable in terms of color of the leather and trims. They had a nice website where you could preview all the color variations.

It's been a while since I've seen it, anyone know what I'm talking about?

Edit: Found it, http://www.vajacases.com/

Too bad they don't make mbp sleeves, the ones they do for the ipad are really nice

Is there anything similar for the rMBP 15"?

I recently purchased a Knomo Kobe Messenger bag for my rMBP 15".
The price might be a little steep for some, but the bag is worth every cent IMHO.
It's made of high quality soft leather, and offers lots of storage room for my Mac, my iPad and all kinds of accessories.

I'm just using a plain-jane amcase sleeve for my macbook. Pretty nice case, I would recommend it to anyone :)

Hi,
Just got my rMBP 13. From what I've read most ppl just stick with sleeves or bags. I can't decide btw a felt sleeve or a leather sleeve(bag?). I'll be putting it in a bag or backpack. It seems like leather will last longer but be heavier.
