Yeah - it's been a mixed bag for me going through TSA with my laptop. A few times a while back I was asked if my sleeves had any metal tags on them, and if I said no they allowed me to leave the laptop in the sleeve. I've had some people the last few years who just told me that it didn't matter and asked me to take it out regardless. So that's annoying. I think I may just try the "nothing in there" or "it's an iPad" routes and then hope that 99% of the time they just let it go through x-ray when they see nothing bad. The 1% of the time they pull it out would probably be worth not putting it exposed in the tray the rest of the times.
Precheck is more than worth the money.

Do the fit of the new 2021 MBP fit at the locations of the bumps of the 2019 sleeve?
Not exactly; the feet of the new MBPs are quite a bit larger than the 2019 feet. The alignment is almost there but the feet wouldn't fit in regardless because of their larger size. In any case, since the new MBP is thicker, the sleeve still fits nice and snug.

Question for people who use skins like dBrand etc - do they actually provide protection on the corners etc? I've always used Speck hardshell cases for my MacBooks, as well as keeping them in a sleeve case thing. Am thinking of getting something a bit more slimline, but I wouldn't want the corners etc to pick up chips and scratches.

My dBrand only cover the main flat surfaces and there is no corner protection. You can get any combo of pieces like the Palm Rest, track pad, around the keyboard/Speakers and then the Lid and Bottom. The skin is mainly for scratch prevention or just changing upon the cosmetics, not impact protection. So if I leave the house with the laptop, it goes in a cushioned sleeve or bag compartment.

Okay cool, this was what I thought. Sounds like I'll have to go with a hard shell again. I'm most worried about little scratches and dints around corners and edges(though it's probably not as much of an issue compared to the old shape MBP)

Taking a bit of a chance here, but ordered this one - confirmed that it's made for the new 16" macbook pro... reviews are very good for other models. A bit pricey though!

I would worry the way it is up on the palm rests. It may not let the screen close and could possibly cause the screen to crack from pressure on it.

PSA: Haber London are using FedEx.. and my parcel looks like its lost in the system. Dunno when I'll get a refund for my 16" MBP case, off to search for something subpar on Amazon now :(

I had some trouble finding a cost effective solution for the 16" until I came across this one. I just received it yesterday and it fits the new 16" MBP perfectly. There's even a pocket on the outside.

I know I'm starting to sound like a Waterfield shill at this point, but I've interacted with their customer service a fair bit (I ordered both sizes of sleeves and bags while trying to decide on a MBP size then cancelled the losing size, etc.) and they're awesome. I've been dealing with a lot of ****** customer service centers lately so it is refreshing and greatly appreciated.

Nice, thank you for the recommendation, I'll get one of those.

I just got my 16” and found this thread. WTH? No available hard shell cases for this 4-figure best? This thing is a monster and needs protection ASAP. Totally shocked none of the typical third party makers have it together yet.

What did you order from them? I have been looking at the neoprene sleeve. The leather sleeve looks nice too!

found a 2021 MBP 16" shell on aliexpress with an 11 Nov delivery via DHL.

Ordered. Never used this site before. Geez, it seems sooooooo shady. Tough choices, tough times. Even if it just protects from scratches for a while until I get some body armor, that will do.

I've gone for the Harber slim leather sleeve as I'm not looking for anything rugged or even a zipped case, just something to protect it from scratches if I'm putting it in an overnight bag or even just carrying it to the office etc. I've always liked the look of the simple leather sleeve from Apple, but I couldn't justify the cost of it.
