Just ordered a "Ogio Renegade RSS Laptop/Tablet Backpack" backpack for my rMBP 15".

Costs a huge amount but hopefully should keep my MBP more safe and the black pindot color should look amazing.

After a long search found it to be a good mix of safety and great looks. Backpack should arrive in next 3-4 days.

Plan to use the big compartments to put in some extra electronics and may be couple of books to go with me.

I've owned a 2008 15" MBP and a 2013 13" rMBP, I've never used anything between the screen and keyboard and never seen any key-marks on the screen. Does that happen with the MBa? Seems like the rubber bezel would be mis-sized if that is the case.

It does seem to happen from what I've seen with friends, but only if pressure is applied for some time, this usually happens when in backpacks with books. The middle of the screen is very flexible so if some pressure is on it, it can push against the keys even with the rubberized seal keeping it separated. I would never keep it in a bookbag with lots of pressure, but I assume the macbook pro's screens are a bit thicker and therefore less flexible.

Hi!
I'm looking for a sleeve for my coming rMBP 13.
I really loved the Booq Viper Sleeve, but I really need room for the charger.
Any recommendations for similar sleeves?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I've looked at some recommendations here, but lots don't seem to be available to the UK, or have to be imported.

What I am looking for is a basic sleeve for my 13" retina Macbook Pro. I have seen this one on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasic...713&sr=8-8&keywords=macbook+pro+retina+sleeve

but worry it may be a bit too "cheap" to protect it or have enough padding.

There is also this one on the Apple store:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H...fbc0a6d96cf1023a2d2746f3f3be0477993cbab50a166

Is there anything inbetween? (IE: around £15-£20).

This was the one i used on my Mac book Pro 15' (non-Retina) (mid-2012), but since have just ordered a Retina, i decided to go for the other one (see other post), simply because it has pocket in the front to carry charger and/or external drives too..

Either are good. and i would recommend them. I would always go for padding if possible, but you may pay for better protection.

That one on Apple store, is actually what they recommend too or the other one i linked to previously.

How is one expected to filter through 98 pages to find bag recommendations for 13" rMBP ?

Search doesn't work with 13", assume its to short a search string.

Looking to buy a 13 rMBP very soon, and want a backpack style bag. A lil help please

Whats your price range and is this a bag thats only going to carry a 13" and little stuff or do you need a bag that will carry books and etc along with your 13"?

Less than £100. Something that is available in UK preferably.
Mostly only the rMBP, rest will be accessories, digital camera, chargers for camera and rMBP, mouse, small in-ear headphones etc. Maybe few documents and bits of paper, magazine.
No need to carry books anymore :)

This is the sleeve I got, Kamor (Neoprene, water resistant, zip-less too): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kamor®-MacBook-Neoprene-Sleeve-Cover/dp/B00HCGUBJK

It's pretty light too, covers the laptop fully (good on those rainy days as my backpack is not 100% water proof), is thick enough to provide some chock resisytance and also opens very quickly (it's pretty elastic).

Not to mention it was cheap too ... I really can't fault it.

This pretty much does it for me. I just need something that fits tightly, and keeps it from getting scuffed or scratched, which should be cheap. A lot of sleeves are pretty overpriced for just being some stitched fabric, without really offering any additional benefit.

I'll be buying one soon; thanks for sharing!

I just bought a new 13" rMBP last night and I'm looking for a sleeve/case to protect it. I was looking at this one http://store.apple.com/us/product/H...7b1b2ebfba5459ba939d58951693ea6f08a7d73f9288e

Anyone have any recommendations? I will be using it to carry the laptop around when traveling and also protecting the laptop at the house when I'm not using it. I have read several reviews that the incase neoprene sleeve doesnt with the rMBP well.

Did some research looking for an over the shoulder bag... wanted an overall slim bag/case that could also accommodate my charger and other accessories when I need them (not always), as well as some papers, etc... wound up narrowing my options to these three. Pulled the trigger on the Booq bag due to how slim it is, but with the ability to expand when I need the extra storage space. Thought I'd drop my list here for anyone who's interested.

booq Taipan superslim 13 ($70)
http://www.booqbags.com/us/briefs/taipan-superslim/TSS13-BLK
http://www.amazon.com/Booq-TSS13-BLK-Taipan-superslim-black/dp/B00IAVDHKQ

Thule 13 Stravan Deluxe Attache ($80)
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H...e-attache-for-macbook-promacbook-air?fnode=50

inCASE 13” City Collection Briefcase ($70)
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H...collection-briefcase-for-macbook-pro?fnode=50

An update... I bought the booq bag, and really liked it at first, however, I quicky realized that the pockets tend to be difficult to access due to overlap from the handles and the material around the zippers getting in the way.

So, I decided to buy the Thule bag and it is AWESOME. I highly recommend it for a bad that is not too big, but can accommodate a normal set of travel accessories with easy access (charger, pens, laser pointer, 1-2 adapters, and a notepad).

I was initially drawn more toward the booq bag because it could clearly fit full size papers and folders (which it can fit). But surprisingly, the Thule also fits full size papers and folders within the zippered pocket. So the Thule is great, I highly recommend it... and I have a like new Booq Bag case if anyone wants one :)

Send me a PM if you want any pictures of either to help your decision if you're on the fence...cheers.

After reading through many of the threads here it seems that many of the sleeves and cases do not fit the rMBP 13" snug enough. Does anyone have a sleeve they prefer that fits well?

Just wanted to let people know that the Knomo Leather Sleeve for the 13" MBA works great with the 13" rMBP. it fits perfectly with no problems. I recently updated to the retina and love this case.

I'm thinking of getting a Tucano Second Skin for my new MBPr that is on its way to me.

I have one of these currently for my 2009 15" MBP, and its nice and snug, it doesn't have an edge to it like most of the new cases do, so I'm hoping it will also be nice and snug for the MBPr.

Give your feedback on the best cases to buy for the MBPr.

Specifically, whether the case is slack or snug, price, and your general rating as a user.

Picture/links would be good too!

Thanks for the reviews in advance!

i have the tucano second skin folder that i purchased for my 2008 macbook air 13.3" when i bought the computer back in 08.

i recently updated to my new baby, macbook pro 13.3" retina. and it fits PERFECTLY in the thing, so happy.

the case itself is amazing, I've had it in backpacks while skateboarding and nothing ever goes wrong. I've had to restitch the inside recently cause of minor wear and a small hole in the corner had to be stitched as well. however, the case is 100% protective still for the past x amount of years and has gone through TONS of use.

highly recommended.

Started using the backpack since last 3 days. It is a very good looking backpack and contains enough storage to put all your extra stuff in it if going on a trip apart from the laptop.

You will not be concerned about its size. It might look big by a couple of inches but then its size give it a bold look. So no problem for me with its size.

However be noted that the laptop compartment is able to just accommodate 15 inch rMBP and leaves no space for any bigger laptop. So if planning to use this for any other laptop of 15 inch or more which is thicker than rMBP I will say go with something else.

I will like to comment about its weight though. It does weighs a bit when filled with couple of books and other stuff if you plan to use other storage compartments to its full use. However with just rMBP and some other stuff you should be good to go. The quality of bag and its number of different size of compartments will make up for that extra weight.

Hi all!

Just got updated to 15" rMBP and am needing a new bag. The current bag I have fit my old 13" MBP fine, but the 15" is tight...almost to tight. I'm looking at this one, http://www.stmbags.com/catalog/macbook-bag-15-inch/velo2-medium-laptop-shoulder-bag/, but am open to other suggestions. I've looked and looked through this list as well as just internet searching. I think I have almost settled on the Velo 2, but thought I would ask you guys if you knew of anything else similar that I might have missed! Oh! I carry around quite a bit of stuff with me when I have my laptop with me!

Thanks all!

Haven't looked at north face! Thanks. I'm not in school, but I work at a semi professional business, so as long as the bag isn't "wild" anything goes!
