That is correct on that one. However for the mini and the nano it did not count on the nano, you had to buy the mini for the rebate.

Since then we have not had any problems, and hopefully they wait til after this promo ends to release the 6G iPod.

i hate the headaches and it basically punishes customers for purchasing.

True on the mini and nano. I agree it would make better sense to have everything updated before a promotion since it causes much less confusion and frustration. Hopefully Apple has learned from past problems with these promotions

If its only a small spec bump I'm going to flip.

If its LED back-lit screens, SR, and a next gen video card (G80 or Radeon 2xxx) I'll flip.

If it is only a small speed bump, I'll flip also, because I'm holding out on buying a MacBook Pro. However, in regards to the graphics card, I doubt we'll see something like that [a G80/high-end Radeon] in a MacBook Pro or an iMac any time soon. More likely to see a 7xxx series GeForce or a slightly better Radeon. I'm actually betting on the GeForce though, since AMD/ATi are sleeping together.

Re: American date system
I don't get it, either. Yeah, it's how you read it orally, but... stupid. Sort of like the "English" unit system and about a million other things.

Re: New MacBookPros.

Y-Y-YEEEEEEEEEEYYYAH!

Not only is MM/DD/YYYY not logical but in an increasingly globalised world it doesn't make sense for us all to be on different systems. We should choose one format and stick to it. And as 4 countries use the same system as the US, and 189 countries use the other system perhaps the US should change oneday.
As for the British Engineering System that Americans use (miles, inches, pounds etc) it made a lot of sense before computers and calculators but these days metric is by far the superior choice, especially for Science. Even the Brits have half moved over and it's our baby....:)

don't get our hopes up...or down.

j*sus chr*st, if they don't have better displays (LED or not) and a better graphics card in them, i'm going to literally sh*t a brick...i will eat it just to accomplish the feat

and after that horrible comment... but really, its gotta be a pretty big boost in order to keep the MBP a pro level machine. At this point it is mostly a $500 bigger screen.

i don't care if its WWDC, or in ten minutes, as long as they keep the pros pro.

The update has to be substantial. They have to use SR because of the speed block and the fact that its an industry standard now.
It has also been a loooong time since the last update, so there must be substance to make up for time lost.

GO METRIC! wooooo!

GO METRIC! wooooo!
There is still a war going on against the evil decimalists, many in Britain will fight for this cause, I myself have done naughty things to road signs to help remove any potential 'confusion' caused by the metricist swine. :D
Join us!

And you could sort of include the 1024/1000 GB-definition ripoff we all endure with HDD purchases too.

Er, sorry, that MBP Rev on Tuesday, surely the GFX card is down for a bump and Santa Rosa surely :apple:

Almost all science in the US is done in metrics, any other system is impractical.
The question is why does the public at large need to convert for everyday discussion - Brits still order beer by the pint, right?
In many cases Imperial system is superior for what a person normally encounters. For example a normal temperature range for weather is 0-100F, below 0 you know it's really cold, above 100 you know it's really hot.

Back to the MBP, any indication if the update will take advantage of "Turbo Memory" (any other manufacturers implement that feature yet?)

thats the truth, I'll be pretty disappointed if they dont up at least the CPU and gfx. If they dont come with that, I'm going to buy a regular macbook n save a lotta money.

In my opinion de IDEAL MBP would be:

-Santa Rosa based with anything from 2.4 to 2.6 Ghz 4MB cache, with 1gb flash turbo memory.
-2 MB of ram minimum in all models.
-A 15.4 LED display MULTITOUCH (same as iPhone).
-Also some nice GPU like nvidia 8600GT 256ddr3 or nvidia 8700GTS 512 ddr3.
-Firewire, BT, Wifi, etc etc.
-DVD-RW.

It should cost 1999€ retail, and 1700 € with studendt discount.

What do ya think? Lovely huh?

Yes we still do order Beer by the pint but gradually we are moving over. I don't really agree with your temperature analogy though, it is just that you are used to the Fahrenheit system. For science the US does use metric, although a few years ago a US-European Mars mission completely flew out of order because Lockheed Martin had used Imperial measurements instead of Metric as Nasa asked them too! Several hunderd million dollars worth. Whether the US ever converts or not is naturally upto Americans as a whole, but ultimately it would make sense.

4MB CPU cache, 1GB flash RAM, a 15.4" widescreen multi-touch display & a mobile 8xxx GeForce card? Probably more like US$3500+, if not more, haha.

You could of course be right, but just because its a "next-gen" card doesn't make it expensive (which would be one of the main reason for it to be delayed in it implementation). ATI and NVidia both have consumer level 2000 and G80 (respectively) cards, I believe its the 2400 and the 8400. Even if its the lowest end of these cards they will be a quantum leap forward over the 1600. Either of them would easily out power my 7950 GT, which itself is a good card.

How about, no.

i'm still recovering from all the dissapointment i had to live through the last couple of tuesdays so i'm not gonna worry about the 5th rumors!!
Bring it ON!!

How about, no.

Guess I leaped before I looked sorry >,< IF they do put a mid range G80 or Radeon 2000 Series (8600, or 2600, instead of 8500 or 2400), then it would equal my 7950gt. But those cards are also more expensive (about $50 of newegg) than the 1600.

This is why I'm american and I write my dates 31-May-2007

I just write out the month. It makes more sense and still doesn't confuse people.

You could write it as 31.5.2007 . More practical and still no ambiguity.
