I'm at the point where going back to ElCap would be much more convenient than trying to use Sierra... just to get my trackpad working as it did before. I really liked having the tap, double-tap and tap-and-drag features. Currently, I have to use the option key to right click. That, to me, is very, very awkward and annoying.

It's sounding like the post-install wasn't properly applied to your Sierra install (that's why you're getting the forbidden on boot).
Boot off of the USB key again (as brunsik said, holding down the option key on boot, so you can select to boot from it), then select the post install from the utilities menu and re-patch your system.
If it doesn't work, then there's something wrong with your USB key and you need to make a new one. You're using the latest version? (think it's 4.0.4?)
Btw...you DO know that the public release of Sierra is TOMORROW, right?You may want to download the public release as it will have the most up to date bug fixes.
Hi!!! Yes I'm using the 4.0.4 version, I repatched several times with no luck, then I made it a new install in an old mechanical hard drive and it's working right now. Like you said it's possible there's a problem with the USB key or the instalation itself. There's possible any workaround to make the WiFi work, i feel the ethernet internet connection a little unstable, because sometimes i lost the connection. Thank you for the answer!!

- Use a supported Mac to download macOS Sierra
- Use the "mas" command line utility to download a copy
- Set up a VM with an earlier version (El Capitan, Yosemite) and download it there
- Use SMBIOS modification to provide a newer model to the Mac App Store
- Ask a friend nicely for a copy of macOS Sierra
This is noted in the first post on this thread.
Post-Installation Quirks:
There are some post-installation items that need to be handled for these Macs.
- Software Update includes checks for older CPUs and Mac models, you will not get updates automatically in these cases. Two known fixes include using @dosdude1's macOS Software Update patch tool, or an alternate catalog server.
- Updates can overwrite files such as PlatformSupport.plist or additional kernel extensions, you'll have to add these back after an update.
- MacbookAir2,1 | MacbookPro4,1 | iMac7,1 | iMac8,1 | MacPro3,1 - Factory Wi-Fi cards aren't supported
- iMac 8,1 - Audio volume control may work improperly or not at all
- Macbook5,2 - Trackpad is not configurable, it is seen an external mouse instead
Until there's a replacement for the airport card in your mini your only option for wifi is to get a USB adapter. It's also a bit of a gamble you'll be able to get continuity working with the USB adapters, but the CAT tool does support them. Very unlikely you'll be able to get handoff working though.
As I mentioned in another thread, as has occurred with others, the 16A323 installer disappeared from my "Purchased" tab in the App Store app.
In fact, if I use the command line version of MAS and use the "list" command, Sierra is not listing there with its identifier either, as it did before just a few days ago.
Nevertheless, I decided to go ahead and type "mas install 1127487414" anyway, just to see what would happen.
Well, guess what? The download is proceeding at 44%, even though it is NOT showing up on the "Purchased" tab in the App Store app, as it did previously when I downloaded the GM this way.
I guess I will find out shortly if I am getting the final release, or not.
Update: Okay, I got it, and I can confirm that the final release is indeed 16A323.

Yeah, I just did the same thing, and it started downloading right away! It was beautiful! It also opened the app store, and is showing me the progress there as well as the command line.
So yeah, thank you chromafile for posting that very hand tool! I installed it via Homebrew.. brew install mas I think it was..

That's interesting, because as I said, while it downloaded fine via the Terminal, it never showed up in the App Store app for me. In fact, even though I have now downloaded it completely, it still is not showing in the App Store.
Something else that is different is that whereas when I downloaded 16A323 the other day using mas-cli, it overwrote my copy of 16A319 in my installers backup folder, this time it downloaded the installer to my "Applications" folder and did not touch my copy of 16A323 in my installers backup folder.
But as I said in my previous post, I can confirm that the final release is in fact 16A323.
That is what is in "Install macOS Sierra/Contents/Shared/InstallESD.dmg/Packages/BaseSystemResources.pkg/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist":

BTW, as I mentioned before, for some reason, I was not able to install mas-cli using Homebrew. Even though I tried twice, Homebrew could not find it in its repository, so I downloaded the compiled binary instead.
Results for me in:

Which means, that this can't be redownloaded, because it has been bought/revoked by antoher user. But there's no Apple ID on my Mac else...
Just type "mas install 1127487414" in the Terminal, and then be patient. It may show up on the "Purchased" tab in the App Store app as well. In my case, it didn't, but you will see the progress of the download in the Terminal window as well, and the installer will launch when the download completes.
It says "Warning: Install macOS Sierra is already installed". Even though I'm on El Captain. lol?

Mine says macOS Sierra is already installed. Changed Apple ID and still same message.
You need to have activated the macOS Sierra package using a voucher or a supported Mac beforehand (so it's in Purchases), as well as make sure there are no earlier versions already in /Applications.

Thanks. Put it into a .pkg for those who don't like the terminal. Don't know if I can put in my own Apple ID for those who haven't download it beforehand due to Forum Rules.
EDIT: This only works if you already have the installer app in your Purchases tab in the Mac App Store for right now.

My understanding is that 1127487414 is the identifier for the "Install macOS Sierra" installer app. Regardless of which build of the GM you are using, that number remains the same, and will be displayed when you use the "mas list" command in the Terminal.
From some of the previous comments, I get the impression that some posters here may possibly think that 1127487414 is some kind of personal Apple ID number, and that they need to type in their own Apple ID for the installer to download to their machine.
Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know, 1127487414 has nothing to do with your personal Apple ID, and it should work for everyone, barring any other problems.
Or does the installer have a different identifier, depending on what part of the world one lives in? This doesn't seem to hold true, because I live way out in the Western Pacific, and that number works fine.
Can one of the more experienced Apple gurus here, comment on this please?

1127487414 is the bundle ID for macOS Sierra in the App Store, across the board. There exist two bundles, "Install mac OS Sierra Public Beta" (id: 1073263501) and "Install macOS Sierra" (id: 1127487414)
Yes. 1127487414 is the universal bundle identifier for 'Install macOS Sierra.app'. The Mac App Store is very much web based like the iTunes Store so IDs are the same throughout. However you can only 'install' with the mas command if you already have it in your purchases. If you don't have it in your purchases already, you still have use a supported mac to 'purchase' it.
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I was not aware of the fact that there are two different bundle identifiers.
So, are you saying that 1127487414 will not work in the Terminal, if a person still has the public beta installed, and that they must use 1073263501 instead, as in "mas install 1073263501"?
