Same old ******** bug we have had to suffer for two decades.

You have other computers on your network. You open your MacBook. You open a Finder window. Some of the computers on the network are not showing. You wait and wait and maybe they will show up or maybe they won't. You wait and wait, there's no refresh option, there's no search for computers option.

You reboot your Mac and open a Finder window, now you see the computers you didn't see before.

How long does that ****ing richest corporation in the world take to just write a Finder that can do something so simple as refreshing its connections?

That happened to me after the Beta 2 update. I was set at a lower brightness, it was a big pain. I could barely see. I tried everything but the correct solution. Finally, I booted into some old OSX that I have on a external drive (it should not matter what version) and set the brightness higher, I then rebooted, and the brightness was higher, but the keyboard controls, and control panel slider, have no effect ... I tried using some small utility, but it does nothing on this installation, on the "other osx on the external drive, and typing
"Brightness 1" and Brightness 0, have a notable effect. You can get it here "http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090901021817717"
I have a brightness problem as well, only mine is stuck at full brightness which makes it an eye tearing experience to use this machine now. I attempt two boot from an external drive but this machine refuses to do anything with that drive, I just get a black screen. That external drive used to be the internal hard disk in this machine, and it always worked just fine. I tried booting with the Option key to select the external drive but it did not show up. I then selected the StartupDisk in System Preferences and rebooted but all I got was a black screen.

I also tried the Brightness utility but it did noting at all.

I then tried using my Sierra and EL Capitan installer flash drives but neither of those was recognized at all (they worked previously), so now I'm back at square one.

Its. A. Beta. Software. Release

there were be bugs...a lot of bugs...bugs that don't seem to make any sense, or seem to be something that couldn't possibly be easier to fix. If this frustrates you, time to stop being a part of the beta program.

I haven't seen anyone report this bug anywhere. On my 2011 Macbook Pro 15in brightness controls no longer work. It's stuck on the same brightness.

I experienced the same thing on my 2012 MacBook Pro, my Brightness was stuck on full power and it was unbearable to use at all. I booted from an external drive (that had Sierra installed on it), changed the Brightness there then rebooted into High Sierra and the Brightness level stayed where I set it, so its now still usable even though its still stuck.

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Touch Bar (entry model, from late 2016) is having all kinds of performance issues with dev beta 2.1. It hangs all the time, its overall really slow and sluggish. It works perfectly for a few minutes, then it becomes a real drag for a minute or so before it behaves normal again.

Yesterday it froze completely, I had to hold the power button to force it to shut down and upon booting it would just go black on me without anything happening other than me seeing the logon screen, typing my password, the progress bar filling up and then it went black. Tried to boot in safe mode, tried to boot in recovery and do a repair on the hard drive, tried to do both a PRAM and SMC reset but nothing worked so I was forced to do a full Time Machine Restore and as dev beta 2.1 disabled Time Machine Backups I had to revert to the latest one I had from dev beta 2.0.

Now I'm up and running again, I have re-updated to dev beta 2.1 but the performance is still really, really poor. Even without anything running things gets really sluggish.

It seems that there is a shortage of Common Sense™️ nowadays. LOL

Although it makes no sense, what has worked for me when I had prior Betas so that to me was to delete all the cases, every single one, then immediately reboot and my performance was restored completely. Have you tried that yet?

DB2 seems to run a bit hot to me, and videos in Safari often freeze. PiP in iTunes brings up a blank white player.

Someone knows if the Finder bug where the finder goes behind when using mutiple desktops with the option "assign to all desktops" persist in High Sierra?

Hmm. It seems I am unable to adjust my brightness anymore, and it’s stuck on the lowest dimmable setting. So it’s still on, just is unusable in a casual setting.

The only way I got around this problem is to boot up from a flash drive that had Sierra installed, changed the brightness there, then reboot into High Sierra.

When do you guys think we'll get a new beta?
In my experience, its a completely unpredictable release schedule because the developers cant control how long it will take to fix all the known bugs. It could be one or two more days, or one or two more weeks. IN the past I think they have taken as long as three weeks between the longer updates.

QuickLook doesn't close handle of file after preview and i can't unmount the drive

Code:
lsof -n | grep QuickLook | grep /Vol

So it seems that my above mentioned problem could be the ambient light sensor at boot up, as now I'm upstairs and the screen is bright after starting it up. Still can't adjust the brightness, but at least I can see the screen now.

Uh… Since when do the media keys on Apple's keyboard controls YouTubes videos in Safari? I have never noticed this until I installed HS this morning on my iMac.

Sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not. The media keys would just not respond, neither stoping nor playing any audio or video in iTunes or Safari.
