I've experienced an issue with "Force Rebuild Cache" option where it isn't running correctly after Mojave 10.14.1 update and it causes a loop on boot.

My workaround was update using the official package on system preferences > software updates, then boot with a recovery partition or usb disk, opening a terminal and executing these commands:

chroot /Volumes/mydisk

/usr/libexec/xpchelper --rebuild-cache

rm -rf /var/db/CoreDuet/*

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -seed -domain local -domain system -domain user

rm -f /private/var/db/BootCache.data

update_dyld_shared_cache -root / -force

touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /

sudo periodic daily weekly monthly

After these commands I ran post-install. That's all!

Have you tried to select from "Startup Disk" prefpane your Mojave "EFI Boot" Volume ?

Otherwise, unplug again all the other disks physically (just for safety), leaving only the Mojave one, power-on then landing on Mojave open Terminal and type:

diskutil list
(locate your Mojave Volume diskXs1)

diskutil apfs updatePreboot diskXs1

Hello thanks for replying.
I don't see Mojave EFI Boot Volume in Startup Disk, anyway tried the terminal command and that made no difference I'm afraid. I just don't understand that when the SSD is in on its own it will boot ok.
But as soon as the other disks are in it goes through the APFS verbose start up but then switches over to my Sierra install.

I'm using mbp 5,3 with a supported wifi card on 10.14.1

The fact is that I have native APFS so I don't know much the APFS patch, instead on non-native machines I do still use HFS (bad experience bricking with APFS ROM so I don't care to update to 10.14.x).

Then try this, after the power-on chime hold alt-option key keep holding until you see the startup manager (boot picker as other named it), there must be the "EFI Boot" (or Mojave label?), highlight it with keyboard arrows (left-right only) then hold ctrl key and you will notice a little wheel under the highlighted element, keep holding ctrl key and press on "EFI Boot" (or Mojave label), now it should boot straight into your Mojave, reboot and check.

Hybrid Mode update for 10.14.1
  • v1.2 which supports 10.14.1 is out here
  • Read the OP with screenshots, notes, docs and instructions carefully here
  • Read the "Who This Is For" section to understand its features, shortcomings and trade-offs
  • Post any issues in the repo
Hope this helps some of you.

@pkoume, Thank you for this.

Just curious, what (if any) are the difference/enhancements for the newer version of Hybrid?
My personal experience is that the "older" version worked for me on my newly upgraded 10.14.1.

Also, any possibility for a "transparent" menubar just like the dock? I like the transparent nature of light or dark.

Thanks again and great work!

Hello I managed to put Mojave with the dosdude tool on my 2009 24"iMac with Nvidia 120GT GPU, everything is fine except for the screen brightness, looks like it's not full dim when at the max setting and when changing the brightness it's like I got only 2 steps of dim instead every square doing a little more or less light.
What it can be? Drivers?

You need to have installed High Sierra on the system previously, so it's firmware is updated to support booting from APFS volumes. Otherwise, it won't detect the volume.
Mac Pro 3.1 installed High Sierra applied relevant patches and APFS patch, will get APFS verbose screen, but then just boots into Sierra (on another disk), will boot if the SSD is the only disk in the MP. This also happened when I installed Mojave.
Any ideas.

As of yet, the systems officially supported in 10.14 are unknown, and the download is not yet available in my Dev portal. I will update the thread as updates are received.

I installed the patch tool and now my sound is not working on the iMac 8, 1? It’s not showing any sound drivers at all? However, when I reboot the computer I do hear the system sound. Any resolve this issue?

Try this ... run the Patch Updater app under Utilities. And make sure you select "Legacy Audio Patch". The reboot.

After using version 1.2.3 of @dosdude1's install patcher to update my MBP 8,2 to Mojave 10.14.1, I was able to subsequently use the Software Update function to update to Mojave beta 10.14.2 (18C31g), again using the USB installer to apply the necessary post-install patches.

Screen Shot 2018-11-02 at 5.25.44 PM.png

Success installing 10.14.1 on Mid 2009, 17 inch MacBook Pro, C2D (3.06 GHz), Seagate momentus "hybrid" drive, formatted in APFS.

Used Dosdude1's patcher 1.2.3, and an OSX installer version downloaded via link provided by said patcher (1.2.3).

Experimentally, I tried to install an unpatched version of the OSX, and received a message on the screen which, unequivocally, verifies that "new" OS X installer checks for presence of APFS *firmware* on the machine, and not just whether drives (SSD or HDD) are *formatted* in APFS. The drive on my machine was formatted in APFS since 10.13 - beta1. See attached screen shot.

Hope this may be of help.

Thanks to Dosdude1 et al, for great work.

Did you install the Volume Control Patch using Patch Updater?
So, if I click patch updater is gives the installed patch updates, right?! It says ' Volume Control Patch Version 0' and I do not see any option besides ' re-install all' to update the Volume Control Patch (or any other individual patch for that matter). And of course I tried re-install all, but that didn't help as did the re-installation of the downloaded, original patcher incl. reboot etc. Any options left?

OK, I finally bit the bullet and replaced my refurbished Mid-2011 Mac mini with a refurbished Late-2012 model ($320 on eBay during their one-day, site-wide, 10%-off sale last week -- exact same price I paid for the original Mid-2011 model there a year and a half ago). Now have full, native support for Mojave. New computer came with High Sierra 10.13.6 installed; easy update to Mojave 10.14.1 as soon as it arrived.

No more need to pull my hair out reading through hundreds of posts about problems I never experienced on the barely unsupported Mid-2011 mini (graphics glitches, since I only ever used Dark Mode; missing Recovery partitions; non-native APFS; non-working mice, Bluetooth, wi-fi, and all the other hardware problems).

So far, I've noticed only one problem: I cannot seem to re-enable SIP. Doing the usual reboot to Recovery, typing "csrutil enable" in Terminal and rebooting into Mojave produces "Disabled" response when then running "csrutil status". Since I migrated my Time Machine backup from the patched Mojave installation on the old computer, after updating to Mojave on this computer, I suspect the migration brought forward some patches all over again that were wiped out by the update.

@dosdude1 Do you know any easy deletions I can make to get rid of whichever of your patches are now hiding on my new computer -- or do I have to re-download a full installation of Mojave 10.14.1 from Apple and re-install all over again?

Is anyone noticing a degradation in the legacy usb support on hardware like the MacPro 3,1 on 10.14.2? I am finding that removing USB memory keys is sometimes fouling the use of an attached Apple usb keyboard until it is likewise detached and reattached. This behavior existed in patched Sierra and High Sierra up to the point where the power handling fixes were added to the legacy usb patches. Now it seems to have re-emerged again. Also, I don't see an explicit patch for the legacy usb support in patched Mojave and assume that has been folded into the platform patches.

Always apply the patch built for your release of Mojave. These are core framework patches and all these frameworks are highly inter-dependent. If you haven't run into problems so far, you will eventually. So please apply the latest cut as soon as possible. I state as much in the github repo docs and readme.

v1.2 simply brings it up to date with 10.14.1. No new features as of yet. We are feverishly working on new UI fixes and even better approaches. In the meantime, we hope these satisfy all Light Mode vibrancy lovers out there...

You need to use a usb thumb driver to install the patcher

I experimented the same as well and got the same message. That may explain why OTA updates for Core 2 Duo macs fail. Thanks.

Does anyone else see there Network locked to DNS addresses, which can't be changed? I went to System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS and the minus was shaded out, and the plus allowed to enter DNS but it doesn't take.
