Yeah, that's because of the AMD graphics, which don't work correctly yet.

have you got an alpha/beta test for me? in 1 hour i switch to high sierra :)

i have the kext files from sierra as backup can i copy/paste this?

Duh—should have read some more in the thread. Thanks for heads up.

If you see signs of getting successful support for AMD HD cards and need a beta tester, I'm ready to volunteer on this spare old iMac.

Not really sure, but I honestly hope you're not installing this over your main install. It is NOT ready to be used as a main OS at this point.

Well that was the plan because it’s just my 2011 Mac mini that I use as a Plex media server and homebridge server. But it is my only computer so I will take your advise and wait a little longer until I attempt the install. Thanx again everyone for all your testing!!

Alright then, how about on a friend's 2011 MacMini with i5 processor and HD3000 graphics only? That is, if I can convince her it's, ahem, harmless...

You could install it to an external USB disk or flash drive. There is also a slot on the back for a SD Card on it as well.

Done that already and just get barred gray circle with Shift key pressed. Without pressing Shift key get 2/3rd through progress bar to end at gray KP screen posted earlier.

test it..

csrutil disable
nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1 -no_compact_check"
csrutil enable
reboot

I just updated the tool. Now, you should be able to boot a system with an AMD video card, but you will not have acceleration.

I got my Macbook Pro 8,2 with its Disabled AMD Discrete GPU to boot into Majave using Dosdude1 patcher.

Is it currently a known problem that the brightness keys on the keyboard do nothing.

The backlight key works a treat though.

Hi I just tried this on my MacBook 8,1 and cannot boot.
I get a Cross on boot. I only have intel 3000 gfx.
I tried the nvram thing but no luck. Tried the force rebuild on the post install and no luck either.
Is this because I am using APFS ? My model should support that naively.

I just tried installing the first public beta Mojave on my Mac Pro 4,1 (early 2009) that had the EFI flashed so it reports as a Mac Pro 5,1. I have an Asus HD7870 GPU which should support Metal. I've ran the GFXBench Metal app which seems to indicate Metal support. Yet, when I attempt installing Mojave, I get an error message about Metal. My Filevault was never turned on. Am I out of luck with this Asus GPU or has the requirements changed since Mojave was first announced?

It's probably because the GPU is a PC card not flashed with a Mac EFI. Not sure a Mac ROM is available for that card, but I guarantee you that the only issue is that the Mojave installer just isn't liking it reporting as a Radeon HD 7XXX. Also, I'm not 100% sure Apple has added official support for the Mac Pro 5,1 yet. You can try using Mojave Patcher, just be sure that you deselect the Legacy Video Card Patch when running the post-install tool. Or, you may not even need to run the post-install tool at all.

Happened with me too, had to use startosinstall to install the PB1. Seems a bug on the installer app.

I used the Mojave Patcher and selected already downloaded(not with this tool) Mojave Developer Preview1 and proceeded.
At the end it showed "..../macOS Mojave Patcher.app/Contents/Resources/dp1/OSInstall.mpkg: No such file or directory"

Could you please let me know if I missed anything or did something wrong...

Used this on Macbook pro late 2011 13"

The issue came while creating the installer.
Can anybody help please.

Hello Dosdude1,

I downloaded your mojave patcher earlier today and the version I have is 0.1b1.
Is that the latest or should I re-download? I am specifically interested in public beta 1.

When I last used your app, the macOS version is developer beta 1 (18A341h).
On another note, will I be able to update (via "software update" inside Mojave dev beta 2) instead of re-installing from scratch?.

Thank you and best regards.

The latest now is 0.1b2. As of now, Software Update will not work to install system updates, as I still need to verify whether or not the Software Update patch used in High Sierra works in Mojave.

Just for info, on the Macbook 8.1 which supports APFS natively, Mojave will not boot unless you use Mac Journaled filesystem.
Also using the Fix recovery partition crashes the post install app when using APFS. Apart from that 10.14 is working great thanks a lot !
Also continuity activator works as well. Insert pictures from iphone etc works

Hello dosdude1;

I have a semi supported Mac Pro for Mojave. This is what I have:
Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid 2012)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7950 3072 MB

Is there anything special I need to do in order to install Mojave? I do have a full copy of the DP2 Beta on my other supported Mac.

Thank you.

Sadly, no. With and without Legacy Video patch at post-install, both end with the KP screen in 6 languages after progress bars reaches about 2/3rds.
Ok, must have needed ALL the 10.12 AMD kexts... Just updated it to include them. Download again, and copy macOS Post Install.app (from Mojave Patcher.app/Contents/Resources) to /Applications/Utilities of your USB installer, boot from the USB installer, and run the post-install patch again.

That was the trick dosdude1. It now boots to Mojave but no GPU acceleration as you said. Also noticed no wifi either. The date on the Finder taskbar is a bit blocky too. I'll play more with it tomorrow and let you what's not working, etc.
Amazing job to have gotten it this far.
