The MacOS Mojave Patcher does not support the graphics cards used in the 2011 iMacs. You will not get graphics acceleration on these machines unless you replace your graphics card, which I will say is not for the faint of heart.

thanks Bmillz, i guess i will down grade to high sierra then. it is painful to just browser the websites.

  • Get yourself some new macs already! Unibody models is a history now, and having anything older than 2012 model is a nonsense!
  • Retina hi-res screen is a must-have nowadays!
  • If you can not afford the newest mac, or just do not want to cope with absence of ports and faulty keyboards - get yourself nice 2013-2015 retina model!
  • Just realize, next macOS would completely rely on Metal API to draw interface, it is time to move on!
  • I greatly appreciate dosdude1 and other community members contribution! But the only point of installing mojave on unsupported models, is if this models are the models which you can upgrade GPU in (like old iMac and MacPro!

I lost internal sound and line out on my 2008 Mac Pro when upgrading from 10.14.1 to 10.14.2. Anyone else experience this? Any fix? I've been running these installs since High Sierra, with very few issues. But I kinda miss sound...

*edit. 10.14.3 seemed to have fixed my problem

This thread is so much more than this. All my Mac knowledge comes from the "unsupported" threads despite the fact that I had a Mac for a long time. So to have Mojave running perfectly well on my MacBook5,1 with only 2GB of RAM is only an icing on a cake.
And don't be fooled by the length of this thread, there are very little legitimate "issues", people just don't like to read and keep asking the same questions thousands times over.

Current Hardware Support Status:

  • Machine Support
    • Early-2008 or newer Mac Pro, iMac, or MacBook Pro:
      • iMac12,x (systems with AMD Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx series GPUs will be almost unusable when running Mojave. More details are located in the Current Issues section below.
I am experiencing a strange issue on my iMac 12,2/ i7/ 20gb ram/SSD/ that has had the GPU replaced with a 770M :
the machine runs fine but for some reason I am missing the sound output as well the control for the built-in speakers.

Without the patcher installing the sound fix I have no controls ; with the patch applied I have controls only
for digital out. Nonetheless I also get no actual sound output with a TOSlink cable in the headphone out.
The speakers themselves work as I get to hear the boing sound on startup loud and clear.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix? I reset the pram but no improvement. I have also tried killing and
relaunching the core audio demon, no improvement.
Thanks in advance!

If you look at the list of Macs in my signature, they are all running Mojave faultlessly including the Unibody MacBook. All the hard work of contributors here have kept these old machines viable for another year at least.

Cheers :)

Hugh

I restored back to High Sierra but now I kinda miss Mojave. Definitely felt that it performed better than HS on my MacBook Pro. I liked Dark Mode but felt that some text was hard to read - maybe the lack of retina or the legacy graphics card was the cause.

May upgrade again if someone can get 10.14.4 to work.

We did exactly what you suggested about a decade ago when the PPCs were phased-out. Got three (3) refurb Minis3,1, a Macbook 5,1 and iMac10,1 from Apple to replace our air-cooled G5s and G3 Books (which all still run reliably to this day).

Apple has already received a ton of our money. Our first dual G5 with extra RAM and a 23" Apple display cost the same as a Honda Accord back in the day. Apple's hardware far out-lasts their software support. Which is a suspect business practice to say the least.

Apparently, you can afford new hardware from Apple?

WE ARE DONE!

You just need to use the Patch Updater tool to re-install the Legacy Audio Patch. This will be necessary after every system update.

That's an attitude! Apple loves brainless creatures, who are willing to pour the dough for a few flashy interface gimmicks, or a pointless pseudo feature like Siri on the desktop. You'll love what you're given, and you'll like it! Go you! A perfect American spirit! And don't miss the new adds on the TV, they'll show the advantages which make it worth spending your last penny for things you don't need at all.

Hello,
I've just bought macbook air (2015 model) and tried to restore all data from my good old macbook 5,2 (early 2009) via Time Machine. This macbook is runinng Mojave patched with Mojave Patcher tool (big thanks to Dosdude). And here is the problem - after successful restoring data from external drive, system won't start - there's error message (Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue starting up). Any idea how to solve this issue?

You may need to boot from the bootable Mojave drive you created using the patcher tool and install the patches for your model.

Reinstall Mojave from the AppStore. That should solve your problem.

The 2015 MBA is natively supported, therefore no need for the patches.

Edit: you can actually reinstall Mojave from the patcher, just don’t apply the patches after installing.

Yeah, I do that, flygbuss.
I just did what bbfc adviced, but it didn't help. Well Macbook air 2015 obviously don't need any patches but I tried to install the patches from old macbook 5,2 (I transfered all data from it via time machine)

Of course it is. Why didn't I think of that! :D

That might be the issue. Just install Mojave again and don’t patch anything.

#LoL What he said is true, but #IMHO isn't it on a wrong place? Nevermind, just ignore it. Let's move on!

I'm bit curious what SIPManager.kext values used related to csrutil status. Though using all of these checked; didn't change anything about 10.14.4 Beta graphics issue: CsrDecode
Code:
# CsrActiveConfig Values To Hex #

[#] 1. CSR_ALLOW_UNTRUSTED_KEXTS - 0x1
[#] 2. CSR_ALLOW_UNRESTRICTED_FS - 0x2
[#] 3. CSR_ALLOW_TASK_FOR_PID - 0x4
[#] 4. CSR_ALLOW_KERNEL_DEBUGGER - 0x8
[#] 5. CSR_ALLOW_APPLE_INTERNAL - 0x10
[#] 6. CSR_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE_DTRACE - 0x20
[#] 7. CSR_ALLOW_UNRESTRICTED_DTRACE (name deprecated) - 0x40
[#] 8. CSR_ALLOW_UNRESTRICTED_NVRAM - 0x80
[#] 9. CSR_ALLOW_DEVICE_CONFIGURATION - 0x100
[#] 10. CSR_ALLOW_ANY_RECOVERY_OS - 0x200
[#] 11. CSR_ALLOW_UNAPPROVED_KEXTS - 0x400

Current: 0x7ff

A. Select All
N. Select None
M. Main Menu
Q. Quit

Select options to toggle with comma-delimited lists (eg. 1,2,3,4,5)

Please make your selection: Q

So, neither CSR is the cause why non-Metal stuck on LoginUI (I use AirportAtheros40.kext with invalid sign #btw, and it well loaded by 10.14.4 Beta).

Oh hai, is EFICheckDisabler.kext usable on real macs to bypass EFI checking since 10.12-10.14?
I'm just not sure with Injected "IONameMatch" (Chipset LPC Controller) on macs, though.

Hello everybody!
I have an MBP early-2011 (8.2) with Mojave installed since the beginning of January. Everything was fine until last week, when (i guess) 10.14.3 update was installed. Not completely sure, but today I discovered that my MBP doesnt have an audio device. At all, even in the System Report.
However, startup sound is still in place, so the hardware is okay.

Any ideas of what happened and how to fix?

Try to re-apply the audio patch.

Have you ever installed High Sierra on that machine? It may not have the most recent APFS compatible firmware if not.
