I've had nothing but problems trying to get Mojave to run on my late 2015 21.5" iMac. I even installed an external SSD thinking the problem was y slow fusion drive. My problems included repeated bouncing beach ball, frequent frozen apps requiring force quits, unreliable Finder, etc.

I finally reinstalled High Sierra, which runs super fast with the SSD.

I believe the problem is the limited 8 GB memory. Too bad that Apple did not design a way to upgrade the memory on the late 2015 model.

Has anyone got Mojave to run properly on the late 2015 iMac?

It should run quite well with just 8GB Ram, also you own a supported machine. So this might be the wrong place to look for an answer.
My advice would be to reinstall from scratch, just as a test.

I actually downloaded Tech Preview 12.2 from the links posted by webg3 above, but it refuses to open it on 10.14.3. Plist file might need adjustment, I am not sure where though.

My .4 KPs randomly too. I also noticed that it's while or after I play in Preferences with OpenGL based screen savers. I'm thinking there may be an issue with the retro-patched .4 ( ie. .4 with post-install .3 OpenGL and GPUSupport) It does get us up and running in accelerated mode on .4 though. So no big complaints, but .3 is the most stable and reliable patched configuration for now IMHO. Depends on what you do.

After a day and a half of no .4 random KPs, three in succession, entering App Store and again, associated with the Control Panel and once, in the Dashboard App.

I concur, .3 is by far more reliable than .4 on the Mini3,1, especially. Jury still out on Macbook 5,1 and iMac 11,2 running .4.

Yet, I see no advantage in .4 over .3 at this point.

I cannot guarantee they will work on any legacy penryn cpu machine, I have only tested on machines natively APFS, but even if this is a future version, I guess if you chown/chmod and kextcache them correctly they could work even on 10.14.3 .
I can upload, they are relatively small.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. I am wondering if somebody was able to achieve a working USB on a 2008-2009 Macs without the LegacyUSB injector?

I have tested and used these 10.14.5 beta 2 IOUSB*.kext on my Mojave 10.14.3 18D109, so using a future group of kexts on a previous OSX build, and they worked perfectly both on 2010 and 2011 machines. Maybe 2009 and earlier machines still require the old IOUSB kexts and injector.

How in the world is this possible? They're blocking OpenGL but just handing us working USB kexts?

can you share the kext?

Hi guys, I need your insights now. I have an old classic Mac Pro (Early 2009) with firmware upgrades and a Radeon RX Vega 64. Running 10.14.3 was perfect, but now I brainlessly upgraded to 10.14.4 and now I have in Safari and iTunes severe audio artefacts, like crackling and stuttering. I would now like to go back to 10.14.3 and stay there probably forever.

Since it took me several days to install all my applications and drivers for peripherals, I am looking for an easier way:

1) is there a patch for this issue, like a patched kext or so?
2) Is there a way to downgrade to .3 without having to re-install the whole system?

Thanks for your help!

Well... I guess my issues are meaningless. I have donated to @dosdude1 and asked for help when I needed it, and got a couple standard answers, and then just got completely ghosted.

It seems that not donating gets you more help. I'm back on El Capitan, and never messing with this sketchy BS again.

First of all, after the firmware upgrade you should have a supported machine (Mac Pro 5,1 [Early 2009])
it should look like this:
Screenshot 2019-03-30 at 10.03.21.png
As many stated here before, it should be possible to just install 10.14.3 on top without losing any data.
Back up your machine and just run the 14.3 installer.
What kind of audio playback device are you using? Maybe it's just a matter of settings or an incompatible driver.
I installed 10.14.4 on various older Mac Pros without issues.

Dude, it is actually really generous of you that you donated money to this project.
But what did you expect? You donated money, you didn't pay for a product or a service.
This thread includes now 572 pages full of problems, requests and solutions. Some of them repeated (and answered) multiple times.
@dosdude1 made all this possible in the first place and as far as I can see he's helping out people a lot.
So many others here are researching, supporting, answering and providing solutions. It's a community, but it is all volunteer work. Do you have any idea how much time this afford costs?
No offense, but if you donate in church or to a public institution, do you expect a seat in the first row in return?
Don't get me wrong but the least you can do is show some patience.

Thank you for responding! Yes, that looks like mine.

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro5,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2,26 GHz
Number of Processors: 2
Total Number of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per Processor): 8 MB
Memory: 12 GB
Boot ROM Version: 140.0.0.0.0
SMC Version (system): 1.39f5
SMC Version (processor tray): 1.39f5

I installed 10.14.4 on various older Mac Pros without issues.

I have tried several different devices, on USB and also directly attached via DigitalOut. They are all affected when playing videos in Safari or music in iTunes for example. Playing in Chrome does not exhibit this behaviour and also whenever I blank the screen, the issue goes away.

Is there anywhere a link to the 14.3 installer you are referring? Is it a complete download or can I use the so-called macOS Mojave 10.14.3 Supplemental Update?

The help I didn't get was in a one on one private conversation here. Not in this thread.

Oh... and you're not going to tell me how I should feel. I understand I didn't pay for a service... I'm not a moron. I'm simply stating that I felt it was a complete waste of money to donate.

People think that just because you make a donation, you can demand something, the name already says "donation", it's a gift, it's not something you're forced to do, no one here is gaining anything to solve the problems of others, if you feel gratified, and want to contribute in some way, cool, but nothing was ever demanded for being a public forum, nobody here charges for providing help, and as has already been said so often the dosdude has college, work and so your time is limited.

Anyone else getting lesser Bluetooth performance on Mojave? Under El Capitan with a Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle it would remember my two different headphones, and I simply had to turn them on to use them. Now with Mojave I have to properly pair them every time.

This is on a Mac Mini 3,1 running 10.14.3 BTW. Not a big deal at all, but I just wanted to see if others had still working but degraded Bluetooth functionality. There are also occasional audio blips on YouTube videos that are not there on my phone.

I just had a look at your last posts. Apparently nobody else experienced your issues. Also right now the focus is on providing a solution / support for the current version of Mojave.
When I use my AirPods with my MacBook Pro running Mojave I always have to manually select them in the BT menu, otherwise they will pair automatically with my iPhone.
Have you checked the manufacturer's website if the dongle supports 10.14?
Since you didn't say what kind of headphones or dongle you are using, I can't check that.

And in fairness to @dosdude1 a big chunk of my frustration in this is with Apple. Clearly these machine could have been natively supported... and weren't. It's just that IMO life is too short to mess with sketchy BS.

In the end I'd rather run something dated but proven on my machine like El Capitan. It did get a serious update in the summer of 2018, so it's really not so dated. But everything works 100%. And I'm also 2 OS versions ahead of minimum browser support for Firefox, which is 10.9. So I'm good for a couple years till I decide to buy a new mini, or go to the dark side.

I love macOS, but am hating the new Apple more each day.

Don't know, AFAIK using .5 beta1 IOUSB didn't worked, I mechanically replaced always IOUSB and telemetry plug. ASentientBot noticed first that .5 beta2 IOUSB worked OOB.

@timidpimpin if you retry to install 10.14.3 or .4 , try these: Bluetooth Mojave GM untouched kexts

You can install.3 on top of .4 w/o problems. I unfortunately have done this too many times. Back-up that .4 install just in case. You can migrate from it, if necessary. I like the Restore feature in Disk Utility for back-ups.

My Mid-2012 MacBook Pro has 8GB of RAM so it's not the RAM as Mojave runs fine with 8GB of RAM, my unsupported Late 2011 MacBook Pro has 16GB of RAM and runs fine on that too.

My suggestion would be to try a fresh install of 10.14.4 or if you can find 10.14.1 and then update from that to see if it works, if that doesn't work, take it to Apple and see what they can do about it

Some SSDs emit RFI strong enough to limit the range of BT especially if the SSD is in the upper bay near the antennae. YMMV

Apple Release notes for .4 specifically mention Safari issues when upgrading to 12.1. Check those out, they may or may not help. You can reinstall .3 on top of .4 without losing data. Beware of apps you installed or upgraded while in .4 though. Always safer to simply reinstall those. YMMV.
