I just wanted to see if anyone might have any ideas. I'm experiencing this sound issue on a fresh install with 10.14.4.

Hi first of all a huge thanks to everyone who helps make this thing work... I've installed this on multiple machines and almost always with perfect results. But I have a couple iMac 8,1 (both 24") that keep having problems with audio--a near constant clicking. I did a quick search in the thread and found someone else with the same issue, but it doesn't seem like he or she got it solved it in the end. I tried all the same things, reinstalling all patches, running the patch tool again, once rebuilding caches. I have seen a couple of times the message "Legacy Audio driver has been overwritten, reinstall". I reinstall but it happens again.

With the machine I've spent most time with, there are periods where it will work well, but most of the time no. It also happened with High Sierra on the same machine, and earlier versions of Mojave. Now it is at 10.14.4.

Today, before posting, I finally tried a clean install. After first boot, Patch Updater opens to tell me about 4 things to install, volume, brightness, isight and video I think. I apply, restart. Same sound issue. After boot the Patch Updater warns me that the Legacy Audio driver has been overwritten, I reinstall, restart. Same issue. Any ideas here?

Hi upipes. Another mp3.1 user here with a GTX680. I have no problems with 14.4 or 14.3. Both working very well so I am sure we should be able to work out something. Firstly, make sure you did not apply the legacy video patch as the GTX680 will not like that. As for the wifi did you apply the Broadcom BCM4321 patch? The mp3.1 may be using this chipset. Can you give a little more info on your graphics card. I presume you have the Mac efi and should get the boot screen. There have been some reports that for those cards with a modified rom the video output can be temperamental. Changing to a different video out can help. My GTX680 certainly outperforms my HD5870.
Hi flacko, thanks for answering.
I enclose a few pictures in order to answer your questions. No, the legacy patch was not applied, the Broadcom yes, and the GTX680 is the one by MSI supported, with the flashed firmware from the EVGA.So, yes I can see the EFI boot screen, and I'm working at full resolution.
I cant change the video out, due I am connecting the monitor with a DVI cable, and I only have 1 port.
There is a weird issue during the boot, and I enclose the pics as well. It seems the card is not making the booting at full resolution... and as I remember, this didn't happend after the Mojave fresh install.
I guess its related: poor performance on FCP and the black screen plus the low resolution booting screens.
Any idea?

If you don't have the correct resolution as showed from your pictures the "flattened apple logo" I guess you can't have the "Metal Acceleration", I mean fit the correct LCD resolution is pre-requisite to VideoFramebuffer, so I guess you should search, download and install some "Nvidia Web Driver" for macOS from Nvidia.com .

And @Flacko is right, you should try to use the other video output port as the "Mini DisplayPort" so a separate cable possibly ending to an HDMI monitor (or tv) in a fully digital signal.

But you could still use your monitor with DVI only, using this cable "apple mini displayport to dvi adapter", assuming that your monitor does support DVI dual-link.

Hi Jackluke, thanks for your answer. I meant that the startup resolution is not full, but after the second apple logo appears (and then the login screen) it goes for full resolution.
I'll check with a DVI cable, and I let you know. May be that fixes wifi issues too?

If you have on second stage logo, then your Nvidia driver are fine, but maybe try with a "Mini DisplayPort to DVI cable" it could help with Metal acceleration.
I am not sure if a wifi "sleep" could be related to a GPU power management, but maybe yes.

About the mini dp to dvi cable, your monitor input port should have the "DVI-D" scheme as attached.

As far as I know, the msi GTX680 uses the reference design so should have a display port. I also think the monitor you are using has a display port so it may be worth trying the display port out. As I said before Mojave has had the odd problem with flashed cards. I am using an evga GTX680 and use the display port. It appears you have used the Mojave post install options correctly (same as mine). You do say there were no problems with a fresh install of Mojave. I would be tempted to try this again on another disk or partition to see what happens. We know you should be able to run Mojave successfully on your machine.

I just plugged the DVI Dual-Link cable, and the start up is normal now.
Will see if wifi disconnect (this is random... so, just wait): well, while writting this, just happened... no related so.
The Metal features (as far as I know) are no needed for Final Cut Pro, so the nVidia driver is no needed (but, after a search, I can confirm that it doesn't exist for Mojave).

Thank you Flacko, no doubts that there is something on the DP... or the cable (but this is brand new). Now, connected with DVI, the startup runs with full res.
Will wait untill next Mojave Update... hopefully will have all the power of the GTX in FCP-

Just in case, I have a Innatek Kt4004 USB3 Pcie card. This card would be affecting to wifi/bluetooth radio... and this could be the problem for wifi... (but never happened in El Capitan).
To me, the most worrying thing is that my old Ati 5770 1Gb was double fast on FCP than this GTX... and after reading other customers, I suspect that something is wrong here.

I would certainly invest in a display port (DP - DP) cable as they are inexpensive and give it a try. The drivers for Nvidia kepler cards like the gtx680 are baked into Mojave. This is because there is an evga Mac edition card for the mp5.1 which is a supported Mojave machine. I do not use FCP so cannot give you any comparisons here but it is a concern that your gtx680 seems slower. Yes, I have read reports of usb3 cards causing problems for Bluetooth in the mp3.1. I guess it could also affect Wi-Fi. Give it a try with the usb card removed. I was thinking of getting a usb3 card but this put me off! There are quite a few “fingers crossed” for 14.5 on this forum. All the best.

Still no "News+" while News.app working.
But the weird fact about "News+" is that I had it on .5 beta 1 and crashed, then upgraded OTA everytime, even .5 beta 2 crashed (without News+ tab), after .5 beta 3 no more crashes, cannot explain, maybe .4 set helped.
Yes , still a mystery. I don't see how anything in your .4 kexts accounts for this behavior so I still think it has to do with how you and @alphascorp originally installed. Maybe this will clear up once the full .5 installer is out.

Yes and I really hope full .5 installer will be postponed and released in more beta round along with .15 beta.

Anyway not only us, but also @Larsvonhier, @webg3, @avz and someone else have reported News app not crashing on 5 beta4.

Oh yeah - we are getting close to WWDC19. I think .5 will release before the first 10.15 preview/beta though. And at least one more Mojave point upgrade during the summer.

Running Patcher v.1.3.1, D/L Mojave installer, v.14.4.10, previous was v.14.4.08 which worked OK w/ v.1.3.0 patcher, v.1.3.1 builds USB Mojave installer w/ v.14.4.10 just fine. But upon Continue the Apple Recovery Server stops the installation and gives me this -

Yes I can confirm that the News app is very stable on my MacBook5,1 and its behaviour is identical to the News app on my supported MBP9,2. I just get notifications that some content is not available in my region(that's the only issue as far as I can see).

If you installed like @jackluke then his .4 kext-set install definitely has this added advantage. Good.

Could you check inside this "new" 10.14.4.10 Installer official app when is the "date modified" of for example (but you can check any other folder too) the /usr/bin/ content, I have a full installer app 10.14.4.08 and the "date modified" of /usr/bin/ content is "March 21st" , I just ask to know if it is the same or with this "new" installer they refreshed their internal compiled binaries.

You have to select the Installer.app , show packages, explore Contents/SharedSupport/ and open/mount BaseSystem.dmg and check the "date modified" of any folder's content if match with "March 21st".

and @K two. I remember pulling Build 18E226 of Mojave.

If it helps, these are the Product IDS and build versions currently available using the regular index and seed index:

It looks like you're attempting to run the MacOS installer application. This is NOT what you need to do, rather, you need to use Mojave Patcher to create a bootable USB installer drive, boot from that, and then install.

I've only used AppleMCCSControl.kext from the .4(as suggested by jackluke). I believe that jackluke has found a better solution for the machines with dual GPU's. I have only one GPU, so ASentientBot's fix was sufficient for me.
On my dual-nvidia-gpu the standard post-install+Coredisplay runs just fine except for News. It's a headache cause I'm trying to enhance my Hybrid mode patches for apps like News (based on "marzipan" framework)

I don't have an old Mac but a new supported 2017 Macbookpro and a Hackintosh with Intel 1st Gen Core i3 Arrandale CPU (a Lenovo T410i).

I use the dosdude1 patcher only to create the USB Install Disk but don't use any of the post-install patches as my hackintosh need other separately patched graphics kexts. The reason to use dosdude1 patcher is that If I create a USB Install Disk with the createinstallmedia command line application, the installer crashes in the last 2 minutes of the first stage install. This doesn't happen with dosdude1 patcher, which bypasses the 1st stage install.

Currently, I'm on 10.14.3. To move to 10.14.5 what all files do I need from old versions. I read some frameworks GPUSupport, OpenGL and CoreDisplay. Is that correct or I need something else?

New Patcher v.1.3.1 installing v.14.4.10 yields 18E2034. Yet, the Mini3,1 still crashes with News. Chess and Flurry are still MIA. KPs in the Finder after 5 mins. But 10.14.4 looks gorgeous.

Now that you have a stick with .4 and the latest patcher. OTA updating to .5b4 (+ postinstall again of course) should be more stable with functional screensavers and fewer KPs. If you're lucky, a functional News too.
