Hello, I am sorry if my English not so good, but what Is continuity and hand off - the old saying If you ask it doesn’t apply. What benefit does this give me ?

This is rather old but explains it Handoff and Continuity are the biggest gee-whiz features in OS X Yosemite and iOS 8. The ability to start composing an email, view a web page, or work on a document on one device, then switch to another,

Thanks, but is it useful ? I mean is it useful for simple things ?

Experience with Integration on a MacBook Air 4.2

I tried to get integration work with my MacBook Air and got pretty far:

Working
- Telefon and iMessages
- Handover to Maps, Safari, Contacts, Notes
- Universal Clip board
- Hotspot
- Airdrop

Working with restrictions
- Handover with pages does not open document at the correct place within the document instead it provides the dialog to open file in iCloud
- 'Scan to document' sometimes not working, same with 'take photo'

Not Working
- Unlock with apple watch is not offered in security settings and therefore not working

But installing a second user on the same machine broke Integration.

- Hotspot is showing only one iPhone. Interestingly it is showing the iPhone from the other user (not own).
- Handover is only working one direction (from Mac to iPhone not vis versa).
- Airdrop ok. Takes long sometimes though

Please, could someone give mi a hint. There were mentioned earlier that was fixed some IOUSB issue that caused system or keyboards stalls but I can not find that. Searches I did have not helped me. I may not know right keyword. I would like to ask on Mojave forum but do not know what issue it was, whether it is the same what I experience on Mojave install.

Continuity is the whole. Handoff is part of Continuity. There are other pieces of Continuity: besides Handoff, there is Sidecar (requires Metal), Sketch and Markup (both reliant on Sidecar), SMS messages, Phone calls, Camera, Auto Unlock (with  Watch and wireless AC), Universal Clipboard, AirDrop,  Pay and Instant Hotspot.

Parts of the features listed above have different requirements that I noted in parenthesis. I just learned about most of the requirements the last few days (thanks to @jackluke)

Here’s the URL to Apple’s page about it which should explain better than I can: https://www.apple.com/macos/continuity/

All those latest fixes are incorporated into the latest versions of both Catalina and Mojave Patchers. No need to manually install them.

I have 10.14.5 not sure what version of patcher 1.3.2 or 3 I guess. Do I need to reinstal OS to 10.14.6. or just use new patcher? Or can I use just patcher?
I have not found this issue mentioned in patcher history info. Sorry for maybe dumb questions.

Edit: I have patcher 1.3.3. Is it enough to create new installer with newest patcher and install patches to system only?

A cheap usb BT 4.0 dongle is useful in many cases for wireless (BT) earphones, speakers, keyboard, mouse, trackpad and so on.

I think that is required also an Airport Broadcom Wifi card, but reading that document, if apple gently allow you through only iCloud to authorize the continuity features on your iOS devices, surely the usb BT 4.0 dongle does support the BLE protocol that they require (and they have in their hardware embedded).

Bonsoir,

I have a Belkin bluetooth 4.0 USB stick (low energy etc...).

Do I have to remove the old apple bluetooth card (BT 2.0 I suppose) from the motherboard to use the new dongle ?

Many thanks,

Serviteur,

hi, you should be fine. Try Dosdude’s Catalina patcher - see what happens.

Apparently someone got the nVidia web driver to work in Catalina. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it a real solution? I’m thinking about trying it myself, but it will involve a ton of backing up and then painful manual copying, YET AGAIN, if I have to go back to High Sierra for the fifth time.

If you read further down in the thread, it doesn't look like it actually enables acceleration, just basic recognition of the device. It also doesn't look like the OP did anything too unusual; extensive patching would be needed to achieve any sort of compatibility between the old webdrivers and Cat, assuming it's possible at all. They just installed the files and repaired permissions normally, by the looks of it.

Speaking of graphics, @oliveira131 have you made any progress recently? Your earlier work with Metal/Intel HD 3000 was fascinating.

Oh! Thank you @dosdude1, and all those who contributed. This will indeed make life easier without to reapply ktext and sh commands. ;)

But how do I apply them if I do not want reinstall whole system? Can I?

It is sufficient to rerun the Post Install Patches from your bootable USB installer. This should be prepared using the latest Catalina patcher (1.2.3).
Should also suffice to run Patch Updater and then reboot, but I didn‘t use this often (I preferred to always have the latest USB installer at hand).
