Can someone tell me how the profiles on Safari are supposed to work or am I just dumb or expect the same functionality as in Chrome?

My intention is to use a profile called "Private" and another profile called "Work" but it seems like both profiles end up sharing the same Bookmarks and Reading List? Why? The whole point is to keep Work and Private completely separated with its own passwords, own bookmarks and reading list. Is this not how it is supposed to work on Safari?

Has anyone ever managed to create root account which works? From B1 on my root account has no finder and therefore unusable. Tried everything: new install, upgrade Ventura, Sonoma install without apple-id.....
Can't find any mention of it on the net.

I just setup three profiles in Safari for the first time- my Default Profile, one for Work, and then a "Guest" profile. For each profile you create you can set the folders/bookmarks they'd use. I set the Guest one to access only one folder while the Work one only shows my work folder, and the Default is top level. The Start Page can be customized per Profile, moving each section in whichever spot you want, and disabling whatever. Browsing History gets sandboxed to each respective profile. Syncs across devices. Pretty cool.
