Today I will try to install the beta 14.4 system from scratch and take a look. If it works the same way, I'll send you the full video.
I installed the SONOMA system from scratch.
After installing OpenCore, EVERYTHING works except WI-FI.
I installed a third-party wi-fi driver. The Internet works from wi-fi.
Watch the video for yourself. I've proved it to you.
The Sonoma 14.4 b 1 system works much faster and loads faster. And the system itself is located on an external hard drive. And it loads very quickly. If I install an SSD on the disk, I think it will be even faster.

By the way, I found out that beta 2 has been released. I will also try and unsubscribe.

in iMac12,2 installed Sonoma

So a quick question, after reading the comments about 14.4, did I pick a bad time to upgrade? 14.3 works fine, with 1.3.0 of the patcher, but it sounds like everything OCLP fixed is now broken again, and my initial concern after reading those posts would be if I'd continue to be able to update once each point release comes out.
Just leave 14.4 beta alone for now. It’s a major release from a European perspective, has all sorts of new code and security being tested and developed to comply with EU rules. I predict the next couple of iterations of releases are going to be flaky. Stick with the pretty solid 14.3 on OCLP and remember when making builds to select for the machine you are going to install on. Also consider having two bootable flavours of Mac OS on your drive so you can always get logged in and make changes etc.

Can anyone report if Sonoma via Open Core Patcher is running stable and running without issues on a MacBook Pro Retina 13" A1502 - Mid 2014 (4th gen Intel Core i5 Dual Core, 8GB Ram) ?

BigSur is the latest supported macOS on this machine, but BigSur has no more support, Sonoma or at least Ventura is the only way to go to receive updates past 2025. I am not sure if I should go to Ventura or Sonoma for this older machine, it will be used by a kid for school and ideally I would want everything to update smoothly just like it would be officially from Apple.

Everything works well on my 2015 A1502. See my signature link for details. Do note the battery life issue. I went back to Monterey which is around beginning of M1 era. Venture and Sonoma code based biased towards M1 and kills Intel battery life.

You've proven your non-stock GPU and WI-FI are compatible w/ macOS 14.4b1 and OCLP. Congrats! 👏Too bad your sig does not reflect the mac shown in the attached video. Why? 🤔

What I don't understand is why 1.4.0 of open core was never officially released. It's supposed to fix the recovery partition issue from what I understand and everyone could benefit from that fix.
Your not understand a lot of thing here so try to understanding by reading and testing by yourself; a commit on github from OCLP after the release is always a new version and OpenCore is not OCLP

How do you want to take advantage of the Fix Recovery when the Graphics does not allow access to the desktops yet?
When you see release 1.4.xx this wil probably fix the Graphics and Wifi patch

Congratulations on finding a working solution. You don't need to prove anything to anyone since your original post was self-explanatory. You should be proud of your discovery and clever work-around for the 14.4 Beta issues. Take a victory lap and ignore the comments.

About a couple of weeks ago I reported that the normal zooming-in operation in macOS, effected by pressing Ctrl and swiping with two fingers upwards on the trackpad, used to fail on my Mac Pro 5,1 running Sonoma. After several startup procedures, it appears that if I enter my login password immediately after being prompted, zooming-in and other operations will be thwarted, but if I wait for ten or more seconds before I enter my password, zooming-in will work. I can't figure out what the cause might be. Some race condition at the time the Desktop becomes accessible?

Is that only a user wide issue? In other words, can you see the same behaviour in a newly setup account on the same system?

If so, I’d check for a corrupted prefs file in that user library.

I haven't tried to log in as someone else, but I don't think there's anything wrong with my system preferences. The OS X/macOS zooming-in feature has always worked for me, and it still does... provided I don't enter my login password as soon as I'm prompted. If I wait for about ten seconds, the normal operation seems to be working all right. The most noticeable unresolved shortcomings I've detected so far in Sonoma are:

1. PCalc won't start normally, although a successful launch will be achieved after three or four attempts. The PCalc widget won't work at all, no matter what.
2. Adobe Acrobat is unstable. Sometimes it will launch, but opening a PDF file will cause it to hang. On other occasions, opening a PDF file will be possible, but opening a second PDF file will cause the app to hang.

What is "sig"?
I am guessing it means your "signature".

Anyone had any major issues using a 2015 Air with 8GB ram?

Thinking of installing it on my machine for a bit until I decide to invest in my first M-series! :apple::)

Only using as a basic daily driver, but running OK on 2011 MacBookPro with 8GB. Wouldn't call it snappy, but it works. Your Air ought to do better, providing you don't throw anything heavyweight at it.

The CPU is tied-up running the security features built into macOS for 10 seconds or more upon restart. Perfectly normal. YMMV

Thank you for completing your sig-nature, alot more succinct than omitting meaningful info, compared to a hand-held video. Again, congrats on your testing. Please post your results to the Discord Paradise, here: https://discord.com/invite/rqdPgH8xSN where it will receive proper attention from the developers as recommended within the docs. Again, congrats! 👏

MBP11,1: on external SSD, installed 14.4b2 using OCLP 1.4.0n latest (30 or 31 Jan). Root patches not applied.

Purely experimental, but good enough to write this in Firefox. For network connection, using USB/lightning cable connected IPhone (Ethernet not working yet). No wifi of course, etc. Basics like Mail, Photos working.
Installed OTA over 14.4b1 which was installed OTA over 14.3.

After installation, progress bar stalled. Forced reboot worked without safe mode (the same as after 14.4b1).

PS full InstallAsisstant.pkg of 14.4b2 also available now (gibmacOS).

Also, available from within the OCLP app. Your network connection is clever, thanks for the tip! 👏
