Sadly my old 2009 4,1->5,1 cMP bootrom finally failed :(

Seen the nMP 2019 deals but decided to be cheap and keep saving for a Studio Ultra
Was able to snag a trashcan 6,1 cheap locally, swapped over my ssd, and a quick OCLP rerun, back in business

It´s very easy to reconstruct the ROM. Talk with @tsialex I have backups and mattecards for two Mac Pros 5,1

Some weeks ago, it failed my ROM in one of them. I inserted my Matte Card and continued working in seconds.

Based on a tweet from Mr. Macintosh it sounds like all the major updates require M Series Macs, so if that's the case, why bother with intel, when all the features people might want require a different platform.
I care very little all those "new" featrures. So happy they keep Intel updates.

That's what I meant though, wasn't the main reason to upgrade to 15 for the AI features, I don't watch the keynotes anymore, but that was my whole understanding of the main set of features coming to the updates this year. So, I was simply curious, as to if the the main features aren't available on older macs, what reason would people have to upgrade, especially those on unsupported machines.
It will be required for Xcode 16 for example…

Well, in fact, I´m running Monterey in all my macs. Even the ones that officially support Sonoma.
Just testing Ventura these last months, cause, ocasionally, I will have to update.

Don´t like Sonoma at all.

Imac27/13.2 14.5/1.6.0n. Even though the Sequoia update did not work it was fairly easy to get back to normal. I did learn that the Sequoia Dev Beta does show up and ask if I want to upgrade(I won"t try again for awhile), if you click on the (learn more) option it goes to a page in the browser about "Apple Intelligence" and all the new updates are there, and the full Sequoia beta 14.7BG can be downloaded. When I tried to open it I got the message that I did not have an app for this.

need OCLP 1.6 nightly please
Take a look at this video by Mr. Macintosh. He states clearly in the video that the OCLP developers have given a stern statement not attempting to install macOS 15. Now, being that you asked for 1.6 nightly on the Sonoma thread, this might not be your intention, but I thought a word of clarification would also be wise here.

For the adventurous, there is a sequoia-development branch
View attachment 2387977

EDIT: Note that I haven't tried to access or review this branch. It wouldn't surprise me if access is or will be restricted.
It’s actually also quite easy to download the sequoia-development branch OCLP installer: but it requires a little trick, that only the more savvy ones will know… ;):)

(Just tried the latest Sequoia branch OCLP nightly; but root patching, while now available to do, still doesn’t work: so, definitely too early to try any experiment.)

No thanks. I'll wait. 🤣
Don't forget roaring and pounding of bellies like angry monkeys as well ;)

Hey all, got a question. I've tried to do research on this first through the appropriate channels before asking here, but art of the question would possibly concern OCLP / unsupported Macs. Does anyone who uses OCLP on an unsupported Mac game? e.g. steam+wine? Part of why I determined OCLP wouldn't work for me when I spoke more actively here was because of the graphics drivers issues when it came to running VMs and 3D acceleration. Since then , as I mentioned a while back, I went a different route (linux + steam+ proton) which good success, but I've run into a few games that do perform better in macOS, even with wine, or even natively via the Heroic launcher , ,and steam. How does gaming translate to running an unsupported OS? Everything seems to have a good balance right now between my dual boot of Monterey, and Ubuntu on this iMac 17,1. I was curious though, if I were to try OCLP again, would I run into similar 3D graphics issues I did with VMware, but with Wine? I thought I would ask first to get feedback before just randomly messing up my nearly stable setup.

Thanks.

That’s our call!!!

So far, only the Sequoia acknowledgement and OpenCanopy assets have been added to the Sequoia-development branch. Waiting is strongly advised. 🧐
