Sonoma installs and works almost without problems, in Parallels Desktop 18.3:

… except that it hangs at boot (with the progress bar at about 1/3) when using the new, accelerated Apple paravirtualized graphics (here, in the screenshot, it is with the traditional, non-accelerated Parallels video driver): maybe someone knows a solution for this…?

With the Apple Metal graphics driver, it stops booting at this point (here, in verbose mode):

a little bit of topic but you can place widgets about on the desktop where you like anyone get the feeling it is a start towards the touchscreen Mac ? Placed a few and thought could only see me really using this if it was touchscreen (or using it more if it was)

Can't boot Sonoma on my MBP 9,1 with OCLP 0.6.7/0.6.8 beta. "The macOS version present on the selected disk must be reinstalled. Use Recovery to reinstall macOS."

Edit: much better with las build of OCLP. No Wifi, as many others, and the patch fails.

This does fall with our issues on real hardware, if the iGPU gets enabled, then the system fails to boot... Well it doesn't fail to boot, it actually succeeds to boot then shortly afterwards hangs. its definitely something incompatible about our iGPUs and the new macOS, as some people have reported root patch successes with AMD GPUs.

Got Sonoma installed on my 2017 MacBook Pro. It's a 14,2 model. Everything's perfect, acceleration and full animations. Only thing missing is WiFi and Touch ID. I think they dropped support for T1 Macs.

FYI: Attempt to install MacOS 14 on 9,2 on second internal SDD failed three ways OTA, USB and local installer. Installation hangs midway. EFI patch previously done using 0.6.7.

Hi all

A bit off topic but for those who would be interested, I added more themes for OCLP and openCore with light and dark backgrounds and Sonoma icons

3D Rounded icons available here

and BigSur drive also available here
Whoa!!! I never cease to be surprised when I see people doing such quality things for the community. This is excellent work and I would love to see this taken up by OCLP and put into their patcher. How can I use these themes in OCLP? How can I install them?

By the way... is there a way to edit the bootloader preferences? I have not seen an option anywhere and it would be good to be able to adjust some parameters.

Adding my own input: early 2015 13" will install just find but if you root patch it will attempt to boot, seemingly be GPU accelerated, then crash and burn
Can confirm. Although when I plugged into an external monitor via HDMI, I did get all the way booted into a black screen. Then, nothing. Most likely the GPU patches just need a good update.

Hi @hal90088

Everything is explained on each GitHub page of the different themes

First you must mount the EFI partition (if you don’t know how to do it, a search on MacRumors will give you the solution...) in order to modify the config.plist file and change the default theme name (Acidanthera/GoldenGate)
like this:

<key>Misc</key>
<dict>

<key>Boot</key>
<dict>

<key>PickerVariant</key>
<string>Alphascorp/NAME_OF_THE_THEME</string>

</dict>

Be careful to respect the exact name of the folder containing the theme otherwise you will get a black screen but it will not prevent to start.

Then unpack the downloaded theme archive and if you want to keep the default folder: EFI/OC/Resources/Image/Acidanthera GoldenGate you can add the "Alphascorp" folder in the EFI/OC/Resources/Image folder
OR simply replace the "Resources" folder (EFI/OC/Resources)

The config.plist file allows to adjust some parameters (when we know what we do...) for my part I created an application with the script editor that allows me to quickly modify some parameters of config.plist like the values "Timeout", "PickerMode", "PickerVariant", "VMM flag", "GPU name", Firmware version"...

I doubt it though. My 2020 iMac is the latest and last Intel Mac ever made, and was released in mid 2020. Can't imagine them dropping support within 4 years. That said, the Mac Pro was sold until yesterday. Can't imagine Apple letting customers who just recently bought a very expensive machine sit without any further updates just over a year after purchase, though Apple is Apple...
Let me remind you :(
PowerMac G5 was introduced in 2005 and sold until August, 2006. Basic OS was 10.4. Price was around $2500 (basic for 2-CPU, of course).
Completely abandoned and unsupported in Mac OS 10.6, which was released in 2009. So, just 3 years.
