Sorry if already asked, read most of the posts and did a search and nothing like my issue came up.

MacBookAir 7,2 OCLP 1.0.1 Sonoma, iMessage is not displaying current messages in the window, they pop up as notification on top right of screen but they do not show up in the iMessage app. I have done all of the normal sign out of iMessage and sign back in and sign out of iCloud and sign back in, reboot computer, to no avail. Have Sonoma running on new MacMini just fine with no issues from iMessage so doesn't seem to be an iMessage bug but rather an issue with OCLP or running Sonoma on this MacBookAir.

Any help would be appreciated, if I have missed something in the post please point me to the post.

Thank you,

I have a strange issue. After using an OCLP v 1.0.1 USB key, to update a Late 2009 iMac, from Monterey to Sonoma, I have lost the Admin account. Not actually lost the account, but it has reverted the admin account to a standard account, thus Not Allowing me to install the post install patches, or to install or admin this iMac in anyway, whatsoever.

How do I add a new admin account or change the standard account to an admin account?
Thank you

Such a shame that doing this on a 2017 Macbook Pro with a T1 chip Basically destroys the machine if you downgrade it. Hopefully there will be some way in the future to not destroy the T1 Chip and let us run Sonoma. I think everyone who contributes to this project is amazing. What you guys do is amazing!
Is this what you're talking about? I just saw this in github

Next to my Mac.
Gawd jeez! OCLP 1.0.1 was far too easy for the Sonoma installation. My target is the MBP Mid 2012 Retina. After getting the OCLP updated to 1.0.1 and all root patches in place, doing the Ventura to Sonoma upgrade was too easy. Just like doing a normal Apple update. Just one little minor thing after the upgrade to Sonoma (applying the new root patches) and a reboot. Back to normal but under Sonoma now.

Wasn't really time consuming at all. Just about an hour. Not complaining.

CHECK ✅

Now, just waiting for Sonoma 14.1 and then my donation.

👍 to the OCLP developers. Then time for a good long holiday/vacation in a tropical island.

OpenCore might be magic, but after running Sonoma a few days, I'm really trying to find a legit reason why i would want it over Ventura. It doesn't seem to have any real functionality that Ventura, or even Monterey has. Now, those on older macs, you might have more incentive than me to upgrade. However, having native support for Monterey, having tried Ventura, and now trying Sonoma I really don't see much different between the last two.
I had ventura on my other partition. However after upgrading BigSur to Sonoma all went smoothly. But now Ventura doesnot boot at all. I had to clean my disk totally and install Sonoma again and get rid of Ventura as I did not not require it after not working

It just seems strange because they fixed BT functionality in the latest build, but for your older mac, you needed the older release. I had forgotten you did the clean install already. Glad you have it working.
Do you have a link to find the Oclp 0.6.9

well I have fix the bluetooth issue with my iMac 2011 this is what I did:
- I took OLCP version 0.6.9n and did a build and install to disk
- installed the root patches and did a reboot
- And yes bluetooth is working again
- downloaded the latest OLCP 1.0.1 and installed the root patches

bluetooth is still working I'm very happy this worked..
I hope that people with the same issues can use this too to get it working again
Do you have a link to the download for 0.6.9

All well and good if you make improvements to the main version of OCLP, but you should also change the build number please from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2. Otherwise, after installing the main version, the message always appears that there is an update if the same build number as exists in the release. Thanks dev's for the Great work.

Thanks for report on success with cMP3,1. Two questions: 1. Do you have the reboot bug causing a reboot about 30 seconds after soft shutdown? 2. Does the Fenvi T919 AIC require a cable from the AIC to the BT connector on the cMP 3,1 motherboard for BT functionality?
1. No | Edit: I have to say something about this – I can shut down the computer normally. But if by soft shutdown you mean that it doesn't go into sleep mode, I can confirm that. After sending it to sleep, it stays in sleep mode for a short time, but then comes back on. However, without a restart. Is that what you meant? Do you know of a way to fix this?

2. Read more here ...

I am curious, on a patched install, is it still possible to run csrutil as it would on a supported OS to just disable SIP completely? Since the system has to be patched anyway to run on the unsupported machines, I would like to turn off all the Apple specific security stuff in that area, and just use the standard UNIX security UNLESS doing so would prevent software from running correctly. I know using crsutil doesn't affect software running on a fully supported OS, but what about the patched ones? Basically can I disable the security stuff from within the OS now, and not worry about having to use the patcher to do it.

Thanks
The way to modify the SIP in an OCLP installation is not by csrutil, but in optións of the OpencoreLegacy patcher.

In fact, I´m runing Monterey on all my working macs. Even on those that are native Sonoma supported.

iMac 17,1 (late 2015 27").
Downloaded the source for OCLP 1.0.1 and compiled successfully with Python 3.11
Downloaded Installer for Sonoma 14.0 successfully.
Ran OCLP and made a drive a temporary installer. Also installed OpenCore to my target drive.
Booted to the installer and made a clean install to the target drive. All worked well.
Booted the target drive, created my normal user, copied my files over from my drive with Ventura.
Switched to my user under Sonoma, all worked well.
Installed all my normal applications (LibreOffice, Pages, VS Code, Joplin, TeXLive, LyX, etc)
All worked well.

Everything works well for me, except using Accelerated 3D Graphics under VMware Fusion.

There may be other things that don't work, but I am not using them. For example, I don't use Apple TV, so I can't comment. Pages works properly, and I can copy/paste images into a document. LyX converts and processes SVG images after I installed Inkscape.

Happy, happy, joy, joy.

Sonoma could probably be considered as a Snow Leopard-like release: an optimised Ventura, with some incremental feature enhancements. Let’s hope that the next macOS 15 (Mammoth? a “big” release?) will be more interesting (even if after the “flat interface” 10.10+ transformation, macOS and other OSes have lost much of their visual appeal: I very much preferred the more skeuomorphic GUI up to Mavericks and also Aero Glass in Windows 7; but luckily, albeit slowly, today’s OSes seem to regain those features: with more 3D-like effects, transparency and so on).

^^^ Sadly, the planned obsolescence is part of today’s too profit-oriented market: only more assertive consumer associations can possibly counteract this.

(As for my previous considerations, from a purely “under the hood” features point of view, there has obviously been an enormous and positive progress since the OS X Mavericks days: but personally I really miss the more “curated in the details” interface of that period.)

I have the same issue when using Safari. I’m sure there will be a fix at some point. A quick work-around would be to use Chrome. I haven’t had any issues streaming video with Chrome.

Me neither. I asked because using Chrome or Firefox is limited to 720p on Netflix and Disney+. We´ll have to wait, then.

For Prime Video, there is a dedicated Mac OS app and I get 1080p there, no problem at all. HBO Max reaches 1080p in any browser without any issues.

Besides this particular Safari issue, I´m surprised of how well Sonoma runs in my machine (21.5 inches Late 2012 Imac with a 1TB Fusion Drive). Its smooth and I would say that even faster than Ventura.

OPCLP is a magical little tool. I am beyond grateful that I can extend the life of my now old Mac (which is almost eleven years old at this point), runing the latest OS.

I have now changed the build number of the main version myself via Python so that the update message no longer appears.

Thank you,
No problems with messages on my MBA7,2 and 14,1 b2 and oclp1.0.1. Notifications and messages are total different things.

The VMWare fusion graphics is a known issue. I ran into with my Linux VMs. In my Case I could just switch to Cinnamon (Software Rendering) under Linux Mint to get around this without having to change any settings in Fusion. Ubuntu required the 3D option to be disabled in the VM settings. Windows may require this second method as well.

If you want, 3D acceleration, keep a copy of Monterey around and run VMWare under that. You have the same iMac as me, and that's what I do.

Yes, for example the exclusion of certain hardware such as the 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro ;).

Seems to me like planned obsolescence without an actual technical necessity.
The Late 2015, iMacs could have probably been supported with no issues either. Everything works normally on mine, once patched. So based on that, I don't see any reason the OS couldn't have been supported directly.

Thanks Okonnel for your info. I have got an iMac14,2 27" late 2013 but ...
Do you use Parallels Desktop?
If you use Parallels desktop, Can you tell me if Parallels Desktop runs without problems?
I don't want to upgrade without Knowing that...

Thanks
Hi @cmedina90! Unfortunately we are away from home and I don't know if we will return tomorrow; but as soon as I get back I will try it out of curiosity too.
I have Parallels Desktop 19 with Windows 11 Pro installed and with Ventura 13.6 it worked perfectly
