The green button's option-click behavior is linked to the "Double-click a window's title bar to" setting in System Settings > Desktop & Dock. If it's set to Fill, Minimize or Do Nothing option-click will trigger Fill. Only when it's set to Zoom control-clicking the green button will trigger Zoom.
Good catch!

I classify it as a bug. I guess Apple got entangled in the new options and didn't notice it affected the Option-green click.
Seems like an intended change to me.

If it's intended, then it's an ill-conceived change.

On pre-Sequoia systems I could double-click the title bar to minimize the window, and option-green to zoom.

What's the point now to have BOTH actions to do the same? Not to mention that it breaks established actions that users have used for many years.

But I think Apple just forgot about the option-green click. They added a new item - Fill - to the menu, therefore certain numeric indexes related to this feature have changed under the hood. The option-green click simply keeps using the old pre-Sequoia value, whose corresponding action has now changed. (Just my guess, of course).
Agreed; either the old behavior should be restored across the board or there should be a new setting to allow users control over what the maximize/zoom(/fill) button does.

Ok, I have the first Studio M1 Ultra and I have to admit I had blamed it for issues I was having with Bluetooth and connection issues. Well it turns out Sonoma must have been the problem. Since I upgraded to Sequoia all the connection issues have resolved. Nothing has dropped since I upgraded!! It's amazing!!!

That would be my preferred solution. Beyond video players I never found a use for Full Screen.
i have (since 10.3.9!) always used apps (safari, logic pro, etc) using all of the screen up to the menu bar... with the dock locked away (i never see it or use it, unless i need to check the trash). i still work this way...

Hence the reason to give people an option what the green window control button should do by default. Everyone's happy that way.

So, suddenly, my MacBook Air M1 is connected to three external monitors, something that had never happened before.

Good to hear! I'm on Sonoma 14.7 on M1 MAX MacBook Pro, I have been having all kinds of issues connecting to Wi-Fi when the router is 12 feet away! Sometimes multiple restarts of the Mac/Router are required, never happened before. I was waiting till 15.1 to upgrade, but may pull the trigger and upgrade to 15.0.1 if this fixes my wifi issue!

2 new buttons at the bottom of Notification Center in Sequoia. One opens notification settings, the other is labeled "Clear All", but does not clear notifications marked as time sensitive.

15.1 moves the clear button next to notifications and now presents two options with one actually clearing all notifications.
