One issue has caught the attention - all seems to be smooth and fast overall, until Orion browser with many windows/tabs is opened. Scrolling and video playback is choppy inside Orion and almost everywhere else as well until Orion windows are open in background.
When Orion is hidden using Cmd+H problem disappears until its' windows are opened again.

It can be related to 26.1 build being RC or Orion's latest beta build itself. This is an example of how all lagginess and choppiness can be caused by other than system itself.

Anyone running this on a MacBook Pro notice any improvement to battery life?

Honestly my battery since I "upgraded" to Tahoe runs out almost every single day. Previously I had run the battery to shutdown probably five or less times in the entire time I owned it even when pulling marathon days with tons of usage.

I've been holding out for 26.1, if it's still awful I'm going back to Sequoia, I've had enough.

Is anyone else seeing issues with unread badges not updating between Mac, iPhone, iPad on 26.1 RC? I believe I have seen this since 26.0. It's just messages that come in with phone numbers like 323-12, etc. - banks, utilities, etc. I assume these are all SMS. I have verified all the typical settings. I usually read the messages on my M4 Mac, but then I have to tap on it on my iPhone and iPad to get rid of the badge.

I just now had one of those messages, and one from a friend - I read the SMS message on my Mac, so it showed 1 unread, my iPad and iPhone showed 2. I had to tap on the SMS on both devices, now they were all 1. But once I tapped on the Apple Message, all 3 devices went to no badge.

I hope this is fixed in the GR.

Anyone else seeing it or fixed it?

Yes in my experience it’s much better again. If you’re running electron apps that haven’t been updated that may be why

In addition to Electron apps it looks like Orion browser does the same when many tabs are open but only when windows are open. Hiding Orion with Cmd+H normalizes the situation. Higher CPU/GPU load is well noticeable when windows are open and all graphic performance is noticeably affected.
If this persists into 26.1 release build, it's time to make bug report to Orion developers.

This is no different under Windows @MBAir2010. RC is Release Candidate, but it's always been beta for Apple and Microsoft - as it's not being released to the general public. It is theoretically perfectly built 'to be' the general release, which is why it's a 'release candidate' - if no egregious bugs are found, that build ships. So even though it is a beta, it can't say 'beta' because then it would not be prepared to be shipped if nothing bad was found. Like I said, this is the same for Microsoft and probably every other software vendor who has a beta program.

Anything other than official release - both betas and RC's are in beta channel. If you have beta updates switched off you do not receive them.
It is much clearer than in Windows where "preview" updates always appear in Windows Update list (they just do not install automatically).

What do you think, Release or RC2 next?
My money is on it being released later today. Tahoe is still far from perfect, but 26.1 certainly works a lot better than 26.0 ever did, which basically felt like a beta version.

This RC was actually "late" as it popped out on tuesday - and it has some serious graphic performance issues which are not only related to Electron apps. We'll see how it goes - at least I hope this RC would not be "rebadged" as official release...

I've been having an issue running a repair on my macOS Photos App Library. While I'll admit that I do have a large library, it shouldn't take more than 3+ days to finish and reconcile. Hoping to get file to create a USB installer today and just try installing macOS over itself, see if that helps maybe.

Otherwise, I've had no complaints! Everything else seems to be working great for me.
