I'm on MacBook Pro 5,5 (13" Mid 2009). The App Store is showing the Update "macOS 10.13.2-Update 10.13.2" and keeps asking me to restart to start the update.

I am, however, not willing to update yet after reading through all the reports in this thread. However, since the file seems to have been downloaded, I assume the update will start automatically once I download. I would like to remove the download and change that (because there's a Little-Snitch-Update waiting to be applied that requires a restart as well).

Does anyone have any idea how to stop the automatic update process? I.e. how to remove the downloaded file?

I tried to use Automation tools in Onyx, but unfortunately I can't, because it stops right after disk checking with "
The disk needs to be repaired." But when I try using First Aid in Disk Utility, I get this:

Code:
Verifying file system.
Volume could not be unmounted.
Using live mode.
Performing fsck_apfs -n -l -x /dev/rdisk2s1
Checking volume.
Checking the container superblock.
Checking the EFI jumpstart record.
Checking the space manager.
Checking the object map.
Checking the APFS volume superblock.
Checking the object map.
Checking the fsroot tree.
Checking the snapshot metadata tree.
error: snap_metadata_val object (oid 0x22d24): invalid extentref_tree_oid (0x0)
Snapshot metadata tree is invalid.
The volume /dev/rdisk2s1 could not be verified completely.
File system check exit code is 0.
Operation successful.

Do you have any ideas what might cause this problem?

Uncheck the "Disk Check" option and re-run the automation tasks.

Great! this worked! Thanks! However when I use First Aid, it still shows "error: snap_metadata_val object (oid 0x22d24): invalid extentref_tree_oid (0x0)" I wonder what can be done with this...

Unsure about the actual disk error, I am more of a PC guy so my Mac knowledge is fairly limited but From my experience when Onyx or Mac OS can't correct the disk error this usually means the disk is going bad or that it needs to be reformatted and setup again.

Strange I just installed 10.13.2 onto a few machines fine but all of a sudden a MBP5.2 17” with a Samsung 850 EVO 500G won’t let me format APFS from a patched(2.5.1) USB installer. I’m getting error 118 or ‘internal error’. Tried nuking the disk first with gpt destroy. Also tried formatting HFS first which works but any way I try to do APFS fails.

Hi guys,
I’m having problems on my MacBook 13’ Pro 5,5 (mid 2009) running High Sierra.

Since OSX 10.13.2 was installed, i can’t access to the internet with Safari & Mail. Switching from WiFi to Ethernet does not change anything. When I go back to 10.13, the problem is fixed.

Any solution?

I just noticed one important problem since I upgraded my MacPro 3,1 (MacOS Extended File system) with dosdude 1's patch :
I can't transfer files directly to a new APFS File system MacBook Pro because the connexion doesn't work.
Surprisingly the connexion works only with an old 2010 MacBook Pro with High Sierra and MacOS Extended file system.
Does somebody else noticed this problem ????????? And(or) has an idea how to resolve it ???????
I have to use an USB Key to transfer files and its not very efficient..........

Download Onyx, and run its Automation script.

i have a mid 09 macbookpro 15" i have 10,13,1 on it its working great but im have trouble getting it to update to 10,13,2 it keeps failing or something it downloaded the update like 10 times today. i used dosdude to make the installer. and the recovery drive dont boot. the usb install drive does the main os drive dose but the recovery dont. sip is off i think. i did it via the install usb drive since the recovery won't boot. and for what every reason every time i try to reset the smc the indicator never changes and it used too with 10,11... i tried to download the the combo installer but when i open it its telling me my mac is not supported. doing it from the app store it wil reboot act like it is installing the update but never does. also the recovery drive is labeled 10,13,2. same with the beta update 10,13,3 it wont install.

also how do i get an early 08 black macbook 4,1 to boot it ?. i tryed to boot the install drive on the black macbook and it fails. this is the same usb drive i used on my 09 macbookpro

I am debating installing high sierra on my mid 2009 macbook pro with this tool, but after reading some of the reports I am very cautious about doing it now especially since it is working perfect on El capitain. are my fears justified or not

the only problem i had with 10,13,1 is it dont want to install the 10,13,2 update. every thing other wise is good. even night shift works.

Just a note though when doing the post install steeps you need to put a cheak on the patch recovery drive or the recovery drive won't work. Also duing the reboot after post it may look like it froze up it did not just leave it alone to do its thing

Do you need any features or functions in high sierra that El Capitan doesn’t have?

Hi @parrotgeek1 and @dosdude1

I found why USB ports goes to unpowered state when Mac's going to sleep. Apple changed USB ports power configuration and renamed the IOProviderClass from "AppleBusPowerControllerUSB" to "AppleBusPowerController". So change all providerclass string in LegacyUSBInjector.kext's Info.plist and after a kext cache rebuild, everything returning to normal. (i mean normal is currents can be larger than 500mA and ports remaining powered when my Mac goes to sleep). And now, the legacy injector kext are now separated from Sierra's version, so the change is required only in the HS version. I don't know when this change is happened, so maybe this change only required from 10.13.2 or 10.13.1. Anyone can check this in 10.13.0?

2:59AM UPDATE

so i decided to make a new partition on my hdd and reinstall osx 10,13,1 on it to see if it would update to 10,13,2 and will that worked i was able to install the update from the app store only. but then after it rebooted from updating i had no internet. after reading a suggestion of running onyx i did just that and ran onyx and my internet was restored. so now im importing all my files to the new partition and setting up as a new mac... will keep updating as time go's on.

Thanks so much for finding this, and providing the info! For all users of High Sierra Patcher, the modified kext has been pushed through Patch Updater.

Hello, was wondering if someone knows a fix for getting the system to recognise there's a trackpad on MacBook 5,1 (unibody late 2008). Did a clean install on 10.13.2, needed the Trackpad prefpane from El Capitan and would also like to enable three-finger drag. Tried transplanting the El Capitan Accessibility prefpane but it won't load, so I reverted to the one from High Sierra. How can we get it to show Trackpad options?

"Patch Updater" asked me today to install an update (maybe about USB drivers).

Now 10.13.2 works perfectly!

Thank you

Heh unfortunately my son triggered the update today, so I'm now on 10.13.2, but I installed that USB driver earlier before 13.2 was installed.

Any way to force the USB driver to be re-installed?

(My AppStore, Safari, and well anything that uses a Safari web interface is currently broken)
