We'll find out this summer.Hey, a little offtopic and I apologise in advance:
What are the possibilities that my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) will be unsupported with the next macOS release? As I've read they'll bring many new features, so will they at least try to make patches for older Macs as well? Or is there a tiny tiny possibility that Apple will support my machine?![]()
I'm running Neverware CloudReady Chromium OS on my MacBook4,1. Works fine. Linux counts that as Linux version but I guess there is some debate about that.I mean I was surprised when it was able to run High Sierra and to be fair Mavericks runs better on my MacBook 4,1 better than Linux Mint or any other distro:/
Follow the instructions below for modifying the update so it can be installed on an unsupported machines.
The instructions below mention the 10.3.1 update but just substitute the 10.13.2 Combo update for it.
Modifying the 10.13.1 Update for High Sierra.
Download 10.13.1 Update.
Open 10.13.1 Update.
Move 10.13.1Update.pkg to Desktop.
Open Terminal.
Enter pkgutil --expand ~/Desktop/macOSUpd10.13Update.pkg ~/Desktop/Expanded
Open Expanded folder and then open Distribution file in BBEdit
Change Distribution file, change Board iD line 33 to <your Macs boardID> at line 41 remove <your Mac model>
Save As .xml file to the Desktop
In Terminal chmod +x ~/Desktop/distribution.xml
Remove the extension .xml
Move new Distribution file to Expanded folder replacing the original
In Terminal pkgutil --flatten ~/Desktop/Expanded ~/Desktop/Modified.pkg
Using the .pkg extension is crucial.
The Modified package on your desktop should now allow you to install the latest update
The MacBook stood on better battery life. Do I just need to change it to higher performance then?https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201851

Then nothing to change here and it probably has a different cause...The MacBook stood on better battery life. Do I just need to change it to higher performance then?
This is the same issue with all of us with the Nvidia 9400M.Thanks for all your hard work dev!
I just have this one issue with Safari displaying corrupted videos, chrome is ok. Looks like someone else has the issue and this has a screenshot of the problem.

Thanks for any help. It's a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro.
You need to be running a non Beta version of High Sierra in order to install the Combo.I tried this but got same error. Any easy way to update my MacBook5,1 running High Sierra 10.13 Beta (17A330h) on AFP to latest build?
I had to run Onyx to clean up the issues my mid-2009 2.26 GHz 13" MacBookPro5,5 got after the 10.13.2 update.being it is the first of the year and the first of the month.... i am considering downloading oynx for High Sierra and run it like I would do on my iMac with the supported versions of the os as monthly maintenance. The question i have is is it safe to do that with the patched version on my mid 2009 MacBook pro or is it opening a can of worms
You need to be running a non Beta version of High Sierra in order to install the Combo.
Download the latest version of dosdude1's patcher app, then from the menubar download the latest version of the OS hopefully this should be High Sierra 10.13.2. Make a new USB installer using the patcher and install over your beta install.Thank youSo I have to backup my data somewhere and clean install High Sierra GM and install Combo using your trick, no easy workaround.
Well it has been about a week now running High Sierra on my mid 2009 13 inch MacBook Pro 5.5 and there have been no issues to notice as of yet, so far very impressed with how it is running on it and happy that I did the install. Just wondering if it would be worth upgrading the MacBook Pro to a ssd drive or not.... kinda have the feeling if it is working ok to leave it alone..... Kinda like my feelings on going to a medical clinic for a physical examination since i feel good haven't gone for at least 12 years and in no hurry to either

If it works ok in Safe mode then that points to an issue with some external hardware, try removing any hardware attached to your mac pro apart from keyboard and mouse and try a normal start up. If it starts ok and you can login then connect each item at a time and restart until you get the error. Or if it is not hardware then it must be a third party app you have installed, did you check with the developers of any third party apps if they have updates so it will work in High Sierra, similarly check with the manufacturers of your hardware that there are drivers and/ or software available for High Sierra.A question for you folks.
I've got a cMP 4.1 with this configuration:
2x2.26 quad core cpus
16GB ram (8x2GB modules)
4x1TB hard drives for data in software raid0
1 SSDx250 GB as boot drive in the 2nd drive unit space
in the pcie slots:
1-NVIDIA Quadro 4000 mac edition
2-NVIDIA Quadro 4000 mac edition
3-Sonnet Allegro usb3.0 4 port
4-Caldigit FASTA-6GU3 plus usb3.1 capable
Connected to the rear FW ports:
2x Drobo S
1x WD MyBook World edition
I'm currently using El Capitan 10.11.6
and I want to upgrade to 10.13
for 3 main reasons:
A) I'm having issues with drobos if I connect them in usb3
B) I'd like to use the full speed of 3.1 with an
OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual Mini enclosure I already purchased.
C) I've purchased a Lycon pcie card for m.2 blades
and I'd like to use it as boot drive, maybe with an mvbe ssd,
still to be purchased.
So this is what I've done pointing me to the same result (sadly)
1) I installed on an external drive
the 10.13.1 using the utility from dosdude1.
With the fresh system all seems good.
So I proceeded to a fresh installation of all software I need.
With my surprise at a certain point, after rebooted,
I was not able anymore to use the system.
Once entered the username and password,
I accessed to the system but after 1-2 seconds
it booted me out to the logging screen.
That kept on forever.
I googled the issue and tried out all the possible solutions found,
but nothing worked. I took an eye to the console and to
a software called etrecheck and there were errors from
the calendar (like something saying that month 13 doesn't exist,
looping a lot of times), from the contact app that wasn't able
to synch and the window server was crashing.
I decided to stop.
2) Once I knew that there was the os upgrade,
I used a cloned backup of a 10.13.1 almost fresh installation
(just put the driver for my wacom tablet and maybe for Drobo)
and I tried to upgrade it to the 10.13.2.
The upgrade was successful but again, once I was in the system
I was kicked out after few seconds. Again, it kept forever,
with every user I have (2 administrators).
This time I didn't check the console and/or etrecheck because
I thought it is the same problem.
In Safe mode no problems but I don't know how to solve the issue.
On the apple forum there is to do verification of the disk (done) and
then a fresh installation (I think I've done it through the cloned system).
Obviously I need to use the dosdude1's utility because my mac 4.1 is not
officially supported (it will change anything if I do an EFI upgrade to 5.1?)
Anyone has the same issue?
I don't know what to do.
Cheers

You said you have run Etrecheck, run it again and post the results here.
As your machine is a 4.1 you can upgrade the firmware so that it effectively becomes a 5.1 and therefore will now be able to upgrade to High Sierra without the need for any software patchers.
Check forums here in macrumors or google to see what others experience of going from a 4.1 to 5.1 are, see if there are any drawbacks.Thank you!
I verified each software to be High Sierra compatible before installing it.
What I have not done is to detach everything. Definitely working in a step by step mode is a must in this situation.
The question is... will the upgrade firmware give any issues with anything? I can go on without worries?
I never thought to upgrade it before upgrading also the hardware (like CPUs and RAM) so I've got no clues about any issues involved in this process...
Swapped a Radeon HD 5570 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 on my Mac Pro 3.1. All graphical issues are gone now. Phantastic!![]()
Do you install et Mac GTX 285 or a PC one ?
Make sure you uninstall the AMD GPU patch, as it causes issues with nVidia cards (especially newer ones). To do so, just download and run the script found here.Swapped a Radeon HD 5570 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 on my Mac Pro 3.1. All graphical issues are gone now. Phantastic!![]()
