Just the "BOOT" folder and "apfs.efi".dosdude1,
To be absolutely clear, what should be deleted in the System EFI partition in the following screenshot?
Thanks.

[doublepost=1527805039][/doublepost]Hi DosdudeYes, currently the APFS patch must be applied, as it removes the system compatibility check from the APFS preboot volume. I will be releasing a full patch soon that will perform all the modifications necessary. But for now, just do what others have done: Apply APFS patch even after the FW update, then just delete the EFI boot files in your EFI System Partition to get rid of the old boot method. Or, you can just set your startup disk to the APFS volume in System Preferences.
Shut it off and try booting again. Normally that works after the initial update.[doublepost=1527805039][/doublepost]
Hi Dosdude
Just ran AFPS Rom update. Unfortunately I cannot boot my MacBook Pro 5.2 laptop. There is a black screen with white led light but laptop is dead. Is there a way to restore laptop?
Hi Dosdude1.Shut it off and try booting again. Normally that works after the initial update.
Hi Dosdude1.
Thanks for your reply. I did that. Held the power button for a long time. Then tried a reboot but there is no life whatsoever. Just the led turns on and the fan is running but still dead. Not sure next step?
Hi Neckton1.Try resetting SMC
It's Control + Option + Shift + Power.Hi Neckton1.
Tried SMC reset (control/option/cmd & power switch) but fid not to work. Laptop not responding but the led light is still on. Thanks but seems I’ve bricked the laptop.
Hi Dosdude1.It's Control + Option + Shift + Power.
Hold power until the LED on the front turns off. Turn it back on again, and see if it boots.Hi Dosdude1.
Correct. I realised I made mistake in earlier post and used Control +Option+ Shift & power key. Did not work as it seems keyboard is disabled. Not sure how to restore ROM. Any suggestions?
Hi Dosdude1. I’ve tried that a few times. Does not boot. The fans start up and it tries to start the hard drive. But nothing else. The keyboard is disabled, no chimes, USBs don’t work & screen dead. ThanksHold power until the LED on the front turns off. Turn it back on again, and see if it boots.
I guess something went wrong during the flashing process somehow... The only solution at this point is to desolder your system's SPI-ROM, and use an external EEPROM programmer to re-program the system ROM with the contents of the backup saved by the program.Hi Dosdude1. Hi Dosdude1. Suppose need to get this done either by Apple Support or Third Party Repairer. Do I need to supply them with the backup saved during the process?I guess something went wrong during the flashing process somehow... If you're located in the US, you can ship the machine to me, and I can do it for you.Hi Dosdude1. Suppose need to get this done either by Apple Support or Third Party Repairer. Do I need to supply them with the backup saved during the process?
Hi Dosdude1. Thanks for offer but can’t do. Located in Australia. Will have to check local repairers. If you're located in the US, you can ship the machine to me, and I can do it for you.
I do, it's on my High Sierra Patcher webpage.Just to report another flashing ROM success with MacPro 3,1
Thanks dosdude1. Do you have a donations page?
I'm not 100% sure... Did you have to run the AMD video card patch initially? If so, all you need to do is re-apply that after updating. If not, you shouldn't have any issues. So, all of this stuff with Radeon cards is a little confusing. I have an Early 2009 24" iMac (9,1) with Radeon HD4850 currently running 10.13.3 and I've been worried about moving to 10.13.4 due to worries about video card compatibility. It's hard to get a clear idea of whether upgrading will cause me to have issues or not.
What's the word, everyone? Will my video be glitchy if I upgrade?
Just attempted to install 13.5 update (iMac 9,1 running 13.4) through the app store and on restart the update got just past half-way (2 mins to complete) and then this error:

It might be better to create a bootable installer using the combo installer than via App Store update

Yes, that is another thing that will be done once the APFS patch is re-implemented.@dosdude1 Now that the APFS ROM patch is out, is it also on your list to make a working Recovery patch for APFS systems? I assume the Recovery partition should technically be bootable now?
