Please disregard the question I asked a few minutes ago (below). I hadn't seen the very last FAQ on the dosdude page.

Thank you for making such an easy to use tool and keeping my machine current for the last couple of years .

Noob question I wish I hadn't asked:
________________________________
I get the error "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" when checking for updates from the App Store. This happens on multiple networks and I get the same message whether I'm using the App Store or the script from the dosdude website. Are there any suggestions for fixing this?

Thanks.

Anyone having issues waking their unsupported mac from sleep? I installed 10.13 on a mid 2009 iMac and everything works except waking from sleep. If I press the keyboard when it's sleeping I can hear the dvd drive but the screen won't come on.

2 issues:

1. I can't seem to create a recovery partition to boot from on my ssd which I converted to APFS. I have to boot from the USB installer for recovery access.

2. I have a Sonnet GE1000LAB-E GigE card that worked fine w/ Sierra, but when running High Sierra machine does not see the card which is a Broadcom 57762-A1. Any special drivers required?

Re point 2. I spoke w/ Sonnettech, they state "the Apple driver stopped working under High Sierra. We filed a bug report with Apple."

The iTunes version 12.7 distributed with High Sierra does not have the App Store anymore. However there is a version 12.6.3 which works with High Sierra and still has the App Store included:
https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/i...-9FEF-11E7-B113-91CF9A97A551/iTunes12.6.3.dmg
But it only works for me because I have had stored the file "iTunes Library.itl" from the former iTunes version 12.6.2. The installation of High Sierra with iTunes 12.7 has destroyed the file "iTunes Library.itl". So I writed back the stored file and I have back again the App Store with iTunes.

I suppose folks know that Beta 2 is out. It came up without fuss and is installing now on the MBP4,1

Ah, but does it actually complete the install process after rebooting without reporting any installer failures?

Am I the only one confused here?
I thought the "Beta" era was over once the OS was officially released, in this case last Sept 25th.
But here we are again with Beta 1 - beta 2...o_O
With past OS's I only recall getting "point release .1 .2 .3 etc updates" after the official release date.:apple:

You have a point. It DID install, but neither Appstore nor Safari is working (same issue at the beginning, on Beta1)... and now Dropbox and Google's Backup and Sync won't start.

You should have also seen a notification entry pop up on the reboot after the system update which reported that some installations failed and asked you if you wanted to repeat the installation. That is the red flag that some firmware update installer bundled with the SU is likely blocking the install process from cleanly executing.

When I try importing a 4K HEVC video into Photos on my MacBook5,1 with High Sierra, it imports fine, but if I try to play it, it says this:

Screen Shot 2017-10-09 at 9.47.10 PM.png

However, the file plays in QuickTime (with stutters). Also, HEIC files in Photos display fine too. Or, if I record 1080p HEVC videos, they will play fine.

Is this just an intentional limitation by Photos / High Sierra, or is this a bug?

I'm interested in your experience with the GTX 1060. Which one do you have? Does it run well with the web drivers? How about the noise? Thanks in advance!

@Schnegg I’m running an NVIDIA GTX 1060 Founders Edition. I chose this particular card for the 6-pin power connection, which is supported OOTB by the Mac Pro 3,1 logic board. (Many Pascal cards require an 8-pin connection.)

The web drivers work well on macOS Sierra and above but they are missing some key features. For example, sound is not transmitted over HDMI. That said, I am mostly using the GTX 1060 for gaming on a Windows partition. The card works flawlessly under Boot Camp and is fully supported by NVIDIA’s Windows drivers.

The build quality of the Founders Edition is best-in-class. There is a slight premium to buy direct from NVIDIA but I’ve had no issues with sound and I prefer the enclosure design to other manufacturers.

I installed High Sierra successfully on a 64GB USB-stick. I boot my MBP5,5 off this stick to test High Sierra. This afternoon I will get a new MBP 14,2. What do I need to do to boot this new Macbook Pro off this stick, too? I will have USB-C/USB adapters. Do I perhaps need to unpatch the system, etc.? (P.S.: I have installed Vectorworks etc. on this stick and would like to learn/know, whether Vectorworks really gets much faster with this new Macbook Pro.)

Hello!

I have a MacBook Pro 4.1. After High Sierra installation (works fine, Thanks Dodude!), The Time Machine can not Complete backup. What could be The problem Here? The system partition is in APFS, Time Machine USB 3.0 Disk HFS+.

It may be related to this:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207022

On some older devices, support for HEVC is also affected by the resolution and frame rate (fps) of the video:

    • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad Air 2 work with HEVC video that was captured at no greater than 1080p/240 fps.
    • iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and iPad mini (Retina models) work with HEVC video that was captured at no greater than 1080p/60 fps or 720p/240 fps.
    • Mac models from mid 2015 or earlier work with HEVC video that was captured at no greater than 1080p/240 fps.

Caution with the betas ... with me these are incompletely installed, no Safari connect with internet, no appstore connect with internet. MacPro 3.1 earlier in 2008

Hello,

Has anyone resolved the brightness issue? I think this is separate than the 'automatic brightness' feature not working. My use-case is that when I turn the display all the way down on my MacBook pro, I would expect the screen brightness to dim until the screen is completely black. This is NOT occurring and the screen brightness remains the same.

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro5,3) where this is happening.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this please? TIA.

hello,

i've just installed high sierra on my macbook 5,1. everything is fine except app store. when i tried to install some applications it just stuck on downloading (dl did not even start) and when i click to updates tab whole app store freezes. any ideas what might be wrong?

Figured it out - somehow somewhere in the process the permissions for /usr/local/lib/ got changed, "sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/lib/" got me back up and running

In this version: 17B35a - Safari does not work, Appstore does not work and Mail.app does not show content of the messages.

Any help?

Quick question for those who've put High Sierra on their old MBP's, particularly those on MBP5,5's.

Is the X & the phone under it at the top of https://www.apple.com/de/iphone-x/ corrupt for you in Safari or Firefox?

I would say its fine in Chrome but the animated X doesn't appear at all and the phone under it is a static image (where its animated in Safari)

First two images Safari

Firefox:

The actual source video shows the corruption for me in Safari, in Preview and Quicktime ( I downloaded it from https://images.apple.com/media/us/i...0c34a926a7/overview/primary/hero/large_2x.mp4 ),

But video plays perfectly in both Chrome and VLC.

Other random videos I've checked work fine. Also the low & medium versions of that phone video work fine in Safari.

According to this user...

...the iPhone X garbled colours glitch also occurs with MacBook6,1 (which also has 9400M). This is a fully supported machine for High Sierra.
