I installed High Sierra successfully on a 64GB USB-stick. I boot my MBP5,5 off this stick to test High Sierra. This afternoon I will get a new MBP 14,2. What do I need to do to boot this new Macbook Pro off this stick, too? I will have USB-C/USB adapters. Do I perhaps need to unpatch the system, etc.? (P.S.: I have installed Vectorworks etc. on this stick and would like to learn/know, whether Vectorworks really gets much faster with this new Macbook Pro.)
why would you want to boot off a usb stick on a MBP 14,2? it natively supports High Sierra.

In this version: 17B35a - Safari does not work, Appstore does not work and Mail.app does not show content of the messages.
Any help?

17B35a is the 10.13.1 Update.
Same here.
I did this yesterday, too. Same problem, no internet.
Looks like there is no ethernet, but the connection seems online. Mac is visible in the router.
But not sure if the connection is bad in anyway.
If I switch off ethernet and connect again, connection process is somewhat strange. First won't connect.

MacMini 3.1 (Late 2009)

Edit:
I installed 10.13 (final) still without any beta updates. Problem solved.

It is not the internet connevtion problem. Chrome browser works well. Safari technology preview works Partially well.

Anyone running the latest OS on a mid-2009 MBP (5,2)? What's been your experience so far? All working?

It’s also possible to ping an external url through Terminal. Seems tho that only AppStore, Safari and iTunes Store are not working... (am on an early 2009 iMac)

Hi there guys,

I hit a bump here, maybe a month ago I tested and it worked perfectly booting APFS on my Macbook pro 17 mid 2009, with @dosdude1 patcher, however I formatted my ssd and had to install temporarily older OS's on HFS, now I formatted everything again, wanted to use only APFS, I used the tool to format my ssd it installs High Sierra fine, I apply the patch, but when all that weird text starts fast as hell and it gets to the end and it dosen't boot :( Im even able to wright on it when it ends LOL All I've written so far that works is "exit"

However when I format it in HFS and install High Sierra on HFS it boot's fine...

I am using the most recent version of the HS patcher tool, and just to esse my mind I used the version I used a month ago that worked for me and still the same result...

So what the heck am I doing wrong here???

I noticed when I format the ssd to APFS it makes a "container" for APFS ? Is this right???

Thanks in advance!

Hi.

I did search this forum, havent gone through all the 80 pages we have here in this forum though.
Sorry if this is an already solved or a known issue.

Having a lot of problems with my MacBook5,1. despite it is reported no issues, on the first page, and many others reported here, but struggling now to make it work on my end somehow.

I have downloaded the most updated High Sierra Install app from Apple, and dosdude's tool, both as of yesterday.
El Capitan is the last officially supported OS for my macbook, and it is working flawlessly on the issues I have in High Sierra as:

1) imessage and facetime not working, telling me that problem occorred while activation.
Works on El Capitan.
2) I can login and use icloud, however everytime I reboot, it asks to enter my password again
No issues with El Capitan.
3) Mysteriously, most apps if not all apps I purchased through appstore doesnt launch at all. Waiting for a moment, it asks to enter the AppleID and password I used to purchase the app, I am quite sure I am entering the correct info. It is wierd that some apps are working.
4) My macbook appears to run slower than I expected, with 4GB OF RAM and 240GB SSD.

SIP is disabled for sure, I am checking that oftenly.
Havent forgot to apply the postinstall patch after OS install.
I talked with Apple Support, of this issue, to fix imessage and facetime, but no avail. It is working on El Capitan anyway.
I compared the info between EC and HS, I get with iMessagedebug.app. Both identical, however,
the row for "kbjfrfpoJU", being different.(heard the this kbjfrfpoJU row differs for each OS install attempt.True?)
I tried both APFS and HFS+, ending up the exact same issue i have above.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Please report the bug. :)

It may mean more to Apple if the bug reports are coming from those of you with fully supported machines.

Reported!

Still can't get HS to install on my MacPro 4.1 flashed to 5.1 ...

I just flashed a few 4,1 Mac Pro to 5,1 and installed Sierra on both then updated to HS from the app store. Getting the not supported message?

I loaded HS on my unsupported MBP 5,5 several weeks ago with no issues thanks to Dosdude1. Today, on a supported MBA I saw there was MacOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update in the App Store. I downloaded it and applied the update on my MBA with no issues. I turned to my MBP 5,5 and the update was not listed in the App Store. I went to the Apple website and found the update and downloaded the package. When I tried to open the update I got the "This software is not supported on your system" alert.

Any thoughts on the problem and how to work around it? Thanks in advance.

Worked fine here via the App Store on my MacBook5,5. Were you a High Sierra beta tester? If so, I believe you need to de-register from the beta program.

I've done a preliminary update to macOS Sierra Patcher, just to add compatibility with the High Sierra installer. Keep in mind nothing else has changed, so I'm not sure if some of the post-install patches still work in High Sierra. Also, for those of you who cannot download a copy of High Sierra, I have a copy available for download here (if this is not allowed, let me know and I'll remove this link). Download "macOS High Sierra Patcher" here.
Last link causes "404 not found". Should be for Sierra Patcher?

Thanks for your response. I'm not a beta tester. The update doesn't show up in the App Store for my MBP 5,5.

If you downloaded the High Sierra installer from within the High Sierra Patch application after the Supplemental Update was released, it already contains the Supplement Update which would be why it isn't showing up for you in the App Store. Have you checked in the Finder to see what build of High Sierra is installed? If it shows 17A405, you already have the changes. Note that the version number of the High Sierra installer got bumped when they integrated the Supplemental Update into it.

Any chance you know how to solve this?

We will have to wait until the 10.13.1 release occurs, download its full installer and use that to install a patched 10.13.1. On the positive side, assuming Apple finalizes its firmware changes, future incremental Software Update release (10.13.2, etc) shouldn't have that issue. If I'm not mistaken, the same thing happened early in Sierra as I recall complaints about failed Software Update installs on unsupported machines then as well but the issue didn't exist for the later Software Update releases.

Having replaced my ATI Radeon HD5770 with an nVidia GTX285, my Mac Pro 3,1 has been running High Sierra for the last week with no discernible issues. However, if I try to boot using the recovery partition, I just get the 'no entry' sign (circle with diagonal line). I selected the "recovery partition patch" when doing the install, and left the SSD I was installing onto as HFS. Any ideas why it doesn't work? I can see it's there by using terminal and also the boot option screen, but it just won't boot from it.

Thanks for your response. This is what I have on my MBP 5,5:
System Version: macOS 10.13 (17A365)

What does Get Info in the Finder show for the "Install macOS High Sierra" application? If you have 13.0.65, you should discard that and download the installer so that you have 13.0.66 which contains the Supplemental Update and will install 17A405.
