kinda strange either way had annoying 4 bugs this morning with non- programs
that are now okay....so that seems okay or that 30 mile bike ride settled me  nerves?
also
the entire upgrade system on iOS and OS is similar to windows 98
with that annoying paperclip pestering me about activating Siri.

Fan is running at full speed constantly after update and rebooting and the white screen bug on my 2020 Intel mac.

Well... with 15.3.2 I had about 10 GB of indicated purgeable data if Apple Intelligence was on and about 70 GB when it was off. Now with 15.4 it is about 50 GB when Apple Intelligence is on and about 110 GB when it is off. Actual space usage is about same in both cases.

If it will evolve like this I will soon have more data indicated as purgeable than amount of actual used storage. Who knows maybe amount of purgeable data will eventually even exceed the total amount of available storage. And "System data" under "Storage" is just calculating, calculating, calculating....

Quite long preparing update via software update… Stuck at « 30 minutes remaining » for a while! I have a full 15.3.2 backup (CCC) in the event something goes wrong. Intel MacMini 2018 BTW.

***EDIT: now past 30 minutes and still preparing 🧐!

***EDIT #2: while I was editing, it finally kicked in!

MacOS has never been fast when it comes to system updates. Integrating firmware updates with software updates and then signing the system volume surely does not help when it comes to speed of updates...

Mine look like that. I have deactivated the Proton Drive with all its offline data (over 600GB counted as purgeable) on the 4TB drive and put it in another folder. Since then the bigger drive has less purgeable than the smaller one. But it got both more since I looked for it the last time.

If Apple Intelligence is active or not doesn't make a difference for the storage on both Macs.

The CPU, RAM and drives are getting faster and faster but updates take as long as 12 years ago when I got my first MacBook Air. That's really strange.

go to Mail settings > general... then for unread count select inbox and do the same for new message notifications
That's pretty stupid. It should've defaulted to Inbox or Primary with the categorization.

So far, all I see that is wrong with MacOS 15.4 is that the minimize button for windows on XQuartz no longer works.

Also seeing the bug with Quicklook and Canon RAW CR2 files. Black Quicklook window is rendered unless it is resized then the image appears. Thumbnails show the image, preview in Finder column view is also black.

Tested with Apple Support Safe Mode and test user account, issue is still present. I upgraded to 15.4 today, so it seems definitely related. Apple have a call scheduled with me tomorrow, but seems like a bug to me introduced with the update.

MacBook Pro with M2 Pro.

Since installing 15.4 it appears that Safari's "open link in new private window" just opens a new private window with the home page rather than actually going to the link itself. "Open link in new window" works fine as before.

This is madness - difference in purgeable space between using Apple Intelligence or having it disabled is increasing with each update while actual use does not change. It would really be interesting to see to what level this would be increasing and where would purgeable vs used space ratio can end up like that - 100% maybe?

Sorry to tell you this, but once you turn off Apple Intelligence, there is a chance that your system drive index will get corrupted. That's why you are having wild differences on available/purgeable space when you turn it off.

For me, the error got to the point that Finder was telling me my SSD had 280GB of available space... problem is, it's a 245GB (usable, technically Apple says 256GB) SSD.

It happened to me twice. Second time was because the macOS upgrade installer turned on Apple Intelligence without my permission.

Got in contact with Apple Support, and they told me they are aware of the issue, but the only solution so far is to completely wipe out you macOS installation, and reinstall from scratch everything. So yes, I had to erase and reinstall my laptop twice thanks to Apple Intelligence. Please open a report regarding your case with them.

If that is true then I am not surprised at all. Apple made us all beta testers against our will and then "oops". It is interesting how file system could get irreparably corrupted and there's no obvious way to even find it out. If this is true then it is even worse than worst things that were plaguing old HFS+

I had already filed one report to Apple about this before updating to 15.4. It would not be the end of the world if I really would need to do a full wipe...

Great!

I actually stumbled upon this thread looking for possible bugs that affected DAWs, audio plugins or virtual instruments since a previous macOS update rendered most of my 3rd party plugins unusable in Logic Pro, and read your issue among similar other comments, and decided to post my case.

It was annoying for me because I had a good chunk of my DAWs audio content and sample libraries in the internal drive. Decided to get an external USB 4 SSD and dump everything there just in case it happens again. But yes, very annoying, and just for a feature that I didn't really use (that's why I turned it off the first time.)

Have nothing against it, but my case was true. Had my macOS install in english, and after the second time the bug came out, I switched it to spanish (my first language) so Apple Intelligence wouldn't turn itself on again since it wasn't supported in my language. Turns out, it's supported in spanish as of 15.4, so I'm afraid I won't update for now.

Apple Intelligence cannot be turned on if Siri language is set to be different than system language so this should avoid it turning on inadvertently. It was like this with 15.3 and is with 15.4 as well.

Several people with M1 Macs are reporting panics when trying to do the OS upgrade from Sonoma to Sequoia 15.4. Reported by several people where I work, as well as several post threads on the Apple Discussions boards. Also seen a post on a German Mac enthusiasts’ site (macuser.de) as well.

Cool, good to know. Thanks! So if I set my macOS language to english, and Siri to spanish, Apple Intelligence cannot be activated. Right? I really didn't know that. Just guessed that completely turning my system incompatible with Apple Intelligence from the main language would get rid of it.
