I'm on the last RC (25B77). (25B78) is not showing up, so I'm downloading the full installerView attachment 2575872

Edit - I used the Link above and downloaded the installer, but that Installer did not work for me.

I ended up using this terminal command:

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 26.1

That worked fine

Lou

I used it to update from the RC and it worked fine. Maybe the download was corrupted or not really finished.

The last time I downloaded a full installer with Safari was Beta 4 and it was about 2GB smaller than it had to be. I downloaded the 15.7.1 installer at the same time and there were several interruptions for both downloads.

I was able to install the package file, ran the installer and it was downloading everything again before the installation started after more than 30 minutes but it didn't show it was downloading anything, there was just a time indicator.

This time it rebooted almost immediately.

There must be a problem with Safari or Apple's severs. It isn't possible for me to download more than one file or doing anything without all downloads interrupting every few minutes. This time there wasn't any interruption because I downloaded the 15.7.2 installer after 26.1.

My main browser is Firefox but I sometimes use Safari for Apple stuff only. When I leave the window open with only one tab and one download it is always working and doing other stuff in Firefox in the meantime doesn't disturb the download.

I often tried to download several IPSW files at the same time from the Developer account and it never works without interrupting every few minutes a few files and then again other ones. That's very annoying. At least it doesn't start from the beginning when I reload every file about 20 times.

Next time I try if it's the same in Firefox. I need to download the iOS and iPadOS 26.2 IPSW files for several devices and use them to update. I think I already tried that and it was even worse because every interrupted download started from the beginning what for most other downloads isn't the case in Firefox. Maybe that's why I still use Safari for those downloads. But I am not sure.

Sequoia is rock solid.

I already planned to downgrade after the RC update last week, maybe I'll do it in the next days. For the second time now. I already did it after updating from 26.0 Beta 3 to Beta 4 and came back when the last Beta (8 or 9) before the RC had been released.

To me it seems Tahoe is getting worse with every update, no matter if final beta or final.

I even think Developer Beta 1 had been the best version. I updated on day one on my main Mac and everything just worked.

No - It was the right size - 17.3GB

My display camera's don't work anymore after Tahoe update. I have two older 27inch Thunderbolt Displays connected to my Mac Studio M1 and I use the camera's for MS Teams, FaceTime, Zoom, and-so-on. After Tahoe update, the camera's have stopped working in all apps.

Anyone else have this problem?

I have looked for solutions and have tried a specific terminal command - no success. I have tried specific settings for screen time and privacy - no succes. I have tried shutting everything down and removing from power - no succes.

I'm still looking for a solution.

Is anyone else experiencing delays when pasting text into certain applications? I seem to have it with a few different 3rd party apps since moving to Tahoe and it doesn't seem to be fixed in 26.1 either, but seems to be something really fundamental to be broken.

Updated Mac Studio to 26.1 yesterday, and this morning my display gets no connection. Verified the display is working by plugging it into my MacBook (gee, good thing I have more than one Mac, and one that I didn't update!). Tried rebooting, various other stuff, and finally tried Reviving it from the MacBook. This has not worked, and I am now facing having to wipe the Studio and restore from backup. I gather this is not an unusual occurrence.

Maybe instead of wasting time on Liquid Ass and AI, neither of which anybody asked for and nobody wants, and handing gold trophies and multimillion dollar bribes to the ****wit in chief, Apple could spend a couple of years just fixing outstanding bugs and testing the OS.

I believe the screen sharing login is required when you have FileVault enabled. So, it is a security issue and it was this way on Sequoia, at least for me.
Thanks, after some digging I discovered this was the case. Not sure why it was still working in 26.0.1, but it's on me since I usually keep my server a full version behind

I did a clean install of macOS 26 when it came out, and 3 printers were added: a Brother laser printer and 2 Epson inkjets (R3000 and P900). They were all working fine.

After upgrading to 26.1 on Monday, I sent a PDF document to the laser. A message popped up on the screen: you need to install a printer before printing. What??? After opening Settings/Printers and Scanners, I realized that the update had removed all 3 printers. I had to reinstall them and they are now available.

Nomad_UK is right, they need to spend more time on fixing their many bugs before playing with their toys.

At some point on the RC, and continues now, my Photos App Library got borked and I had to start a Repair which then starts a restore from iCloud.. Well, that was quite a while ago and it's just not finishing/reconciling. I've restarted, and even installed macOS 26.1 over itself from a USB installer. I've got another Mac and an iPhone and iPad that are all syncing up just fine.. It's just my M1 MacBook Pro having this issue. I'm at a loss.. I know it can sometimes take days to finish, but it's been more than days by now. I'm looking at close to a week+ now.

I noticed that in 26.1 moving the cursor around in the file name of the Save as dialog is extremely slow and lags way behind the keyboard. I used the Feedback Assistant to report this issue but I doubt anyone will read anyway.

It seems that kernel_task and windowserver started consuming less RAM after updating my MacBook M1 Air to Tahoe

Usually, after several days of use, these processes consumed 2-3 GB, but now it's about 500 MB, kernel_task consumes 50-100 MB. Am I the only one who noticed this?

This is a first for this M3 - after waking machine up today it skipped lock screen and jumped straight to desktop (last time to see this behavior was on Monterey)

Few moments later it became somewhat obvious what's going on.
System was beachballing - no way to operate with pointer but keyboard actions worked OK. Got Activity Monitor up and saw that 'loginwindow' was not responding. No other way out than killing the process, which (expectedly) destroyed login session and threw me back to login screen. Hard to say if there's any connection, but after that Paragon NTFS for Mac threw a notification about update being available. Updating that required a restart because of kext update. Go figure if there's any connection between these 2 events...

Finder window will randomly freeze. Sometimes, closing and reopening a window will make it work again, while other times relaunching the Finder is necessary. Wasn't able to establish what causes it.

is this me,
or auto-filling in a password is getting more tedious and cross-fingered
every upgrade on Safari/macOS?

just now I could not easily log into Chewey, com
safari wanted my MBA password then circle, then a another try.....

so I quit the safari app and used Vivaldi which took under a minute to place an order
from launch of the program, to the site, fill cart then verification as even using tuta mail was easy as well.

 is making easy things too complicated in basic security means,
since many fools are probably complaining of being idiots to support.
so they aded several hoops so they, or we stop any contact with them.

then again safari has such a great "benchmark",
so that matters more than usage.

silly me!

I'm glad it's not just me.. It's CRAZY laggy.. Like, sometimes 3 or 4 seconds behind on typing or any other action.

I have over 160GB of available storage on my Mac Studio 2025 M4 Max and 36GB of RAM with only 15% used.

Finder works fine, it's just whenever when that small window is displayed for saving or opening files.

Found an old thread back from an identical issue under Mavericks and that said to basically delete iCloud cached data using the following command:

Code:
rm ~/Library/Caches/CloudKit/CloudKitMetadata*;killall cloudd

Pleased to say, that seems to have fixed it, at least for now and it tracks, because I recently started getting error messages related to iCloud Temporary items on my automated backup solution following the update to 26.1.. so definitely makes sense to me.

By the way, 2 Macs both running 26.1 are experiencing this bug.

I'm not sure if this started with 26.1 for sure, but in Finder, when in column view, none of the quick action buttons in the preview pane work. They only work in gallery view.

Sorry to read that, usagora, but the quick action buttons are working normally here in column view, under macOS 26.1. No idea why you have that problem on your end, sorry.

Bizarre. I relaunched Finder and everything. I'll try a restart next.

EDIT: Even a restart doesn't fix it. And I'm pretty sure this is happening on two different Macs. I think this is happening both on my Studio and Mini (on my Mini currently - will double check on my Studio at home later today and will also check on my Macbook - all three are on 26.1).

Confirmed: all three of my Macs (listed in my signature) running 26.1 have this identical issue. That's not a coincidence. This is clearly a bug. I will report it to Apple.

Anyone else have their wallpaper randomly disappearing since 26.1? For me it happens when I have my Studio Display connected to my laptop. It'll be fine until I lock the computer for awhile and come back, then the Studio Display (which is set as the main display) has a black background (the wallpaper on the laptop is still there). All the widgets and desktop icons work, there's just no wallpaper.

And yes, the "show on all spaces" toggle is checked.
Yes.....happened to me also, but worse. I had a folder of custom desktop photos in the Wallpaper settings. THat folder has disappeared, and there is no way to add another folder, or individual photo to serve as wallpaper. Not only that set desktop picture using share also doesn't work, nor can I just drag a photo to the wallpaper settings window. BUT I can set a custom target folder for the screensaver. I had trouble in 26.0 but eventually got it working fine-then poof - gone.

Same here on macOS "Tahoe" 26.1. I'm on a 14" MacBook Pro 2023 (M2 Max) with an external monitor set as a hub. In my case, the wallpaper on the built-in display randomly goes black while the external monitor still shows the correct wallpaper. And desktop widgets also "stick" to the external monitor. When I try to drag them back to the built-in display, they immediately jump back to the external.

The only reliable workaround so far has been:

Code:
killall Dock
killall NotificationCenter

This brings the wallpaper and widgets back without rebooting, but the bug sometimes keeps returning after lock/wake. Definitely looks like a 26.1 regression rather than a misconfiguration.
