Try only RX560 installed, with only one monitor connected, then hold Command + R to boot. If the RX560 works, then it’s something wrong with your HS. If not, then either the card doesn’t work (if you never prove it can work), or the HS recovery partition doesn’t work (this is easy to check because you have the 5770).

For Mojave, it’s worth to try, but better start with spare drive, and a clean installation

...I forgot: could it be the drivers ? I mean, I'm no specialist here... Do I need to install new drivers ? Could it cause problems with the old 5770?

Okay, I retested everything...
1- my new RX 560 works fine even alongside my 5770 on my Windows partition (with little resolution issues)(tested with one display each)
2- but HS doesn't want to open with both cards side by side on the Mac partition
3- I tried to hold command + R to boot, it worked.... but then I didn't know what to do next
4- Conclusion: (A) the RX 560 works, (B) the HS recovery seems to be working, (C) the RX 560 doesn't seem to be compatible with HS.

Questions:
- Is there something I can try next?
- Is my AMD XFX Radeon RX 560 4GB any different form other RX 560 cards?

RX 550 have multiple PCIe IDs, just one (the cards that have the same one as RX 560) works correctly - it's a trial and error card, better to buy a RX 560.
A) Only up to High Sierra. Mojave don't work with an unsupported GPU + a supported one correctly.
B) For up to High Sierra.

So bud I have a 2010 Pro with High Sierra...I installed the radeon rx 550 and when i power on i just get a blank screen...Did this happen to you?

Like I said, not all RX 550 cards work, only the cards that have the PCIeIDs on the drivers.

Ok People. After procrastinating for two, months I just now added the Radeon 4 Meg 560, while leaving the original card in place. I have no problem booting in Snow Leopard OR booting in High Sierra with the old card.

But with the new card, (I.e DVI or HDMI source) the screen comes up. No Drive or Window show. I can run a program like system preferences, change the screen mode, but MOST programs, while they run, show no Windows. If I switch back to VGA mode, the programs are there and running. Disk Utility, which I CAN run, shows me the Drives, but I can see NOTHING. Their mounted but invisible.

Any help advice, etc. will be MORE than appreciated.

RX 560, or any other AMD Polaris GPU, only work with 10.12.6 and newer macOS releases.

Test with High Sierra and only one GPU at a time. macOS don't like GPUs that use different drivers at the same time. I already warned about potential problems #36.

Btw, if you used any patched macOS install to install High Sierra, do a clean install.

The thing is, is that the screen itself is just fine. The only problem is Folder Windows or drive icons don't show up. I was warned that the screen wouldn't show, or be "tainted.". Such is not the case. As for High Sierra, I've been upgrading the OS one step at a time ever since Maverick. I bought this card to get Mojave, but Can't, because while I can run the Firefox program, I can't see it.

There's no GPU that will work with Snow Leopard and Mojave. An Apple GT120, HD 4870 or a HD5770/5870 will work for Snow Leopard and High Sierra, but you can't keep any of the four cards installed simultaneously with a modern GPU when running Mojave.

macOS don't like working with unsupported GPUs installed, weird things happen. If you want to use both, accept that weird problems will happen.

I'm not having any problems with Snow Leopard. I NEED Snow Leopard, which is why I'm using both cards. I have one partition with Snow Leopard, one with High Sierra.

So, you've never heard of a fix for the missing Icons? Is it possible that if I have Mojave, this problem will go away? At the moment, I can't install Mojave because I can't use Firefox, and if I try to download it from High Sierra, it tells me I need a metal card, since the ONLY way I can use High Sierra is from the old card.

Is there a way to just download Mojave?

I don't know about any workarounds for your problems. Firefox has nothing to do with Mojave install. You will download it via Mac App Store.

Mojave don't work reliably with unsupported GPUs present. To download it, remove your Apple OEM GPU (won't install with it present), boot High Sierra and go to this support article:

Read the first post of the thread, you'll probably need to do two firmware upgrades, to MP51.0089.B00 and to 144.0.0.0.0:

Btw, you can download Mojave via Pixar's cli tool installinstallmacos.py too.

Ok, Everything is now working! Apparently when two cards are installed at the same time, only one of them can run software. A new option is created in the Displays accessory in System Preferences, called "Arrangements" And you can move the header from one to to the other. Once I did that I had full control in the AMD 560 card screen and lost it in the old Radeon card. I can now install Mojave. And I can now use the new card!

I just went over this new option in the "Displays" accessory called "Arrangements" in System Preferences. It has a box called, "Mirroring" and sure enough, when I checked that box I can use software no matter which graphics card is in control.

Re-install macOS at there. No need to format anything, all data should remain (you should have proper backup anyway).

I re-installed macOS HS many times, but even alone in my machine, my new AMD XFX Radeon RX 560 4GB still doesn't work under HS. What did I miss ?
