thx Renovatio, but WOW thats pretty big! I think I will just stick with the 23's! my desk area gives me 42 inches, im hoping i will still have enough room to put my front left, right, and center speakers up with the displays.

Yeah, I was worried about my speakers too ... I have the Harman Soundsticks and I actually figured out that if I layed them on their sides directly on top of the base underneath the monitors then they fit perfectly. Don't look to bad either.

But yeah, they are BIG ... pretty heavy too ... had to double check the weight allowance for my desk ... didn't want to break any glass ... lol

So yeah, while I'm waiting for my x1900, I picked up an nVidia 7900GT from Best Buy to test out and popped it into the MP. I ran Oblivion today at full 2560 by 1600 res, all options maxxed and it ran like a DREAM!!! OMG, SOOOOOO smooth.

Are you saying you got a PC video card to run natively under OSX? Or was this under bootcamp/windows? Either way I am curious to find out.

Boot Camp, it's the only way I can play Oblivion and Empire at War.

Any updates on this front?

Earliest ship date I've seen for an X1900 system is the 12th so far, so hopefully Apple will ship them soon or at least say something.

Mine's Sept 5th (Tuesday). Ordered within a couple hours of the online store opening after the keynote: 3GHz, 4GB, 1TB, X1900XT, 2x optical, airport + BT. But then I did place the order with the stock video card, then called a week later to upgrade to X1900, and the estimated ship time remained Sep 5. We'll see.

Lucky you. I had a 2.66GHz w/2GB RAM, 500GB HDD, BT+Wireless and Wireless KB/MM. Went from 9/5 to 9/28 when I changed the video card. Bummer.

My guess is that this ship date will not be honored. I ordered, quite literally, the minute the online store showed up and my ship date is the 12th. Everyone I've spoken with that ordered on the 7th will ship on the 12th. If your machine actually ships on the 5th, I'll be impressed.

(I'll also expect you to get benchmarks up right away! :D )

Yea, I'm not holding my breath. But I'll definitely post if I see it shipped... plus run it through its paces.

Attached is the order (order # removed by me)

Wow, yeah please keep us updated. :) Didn't know anyone had a ship date that early, hopefully Apple sticks to it.

Hopefully they will all go out more or less at the same time. I imagine they will get a huge shipment of x1900s and all they will have to do it throw them in the boxes that have already started to be built. My order is slated for a sept 18th shipment, but it went non-cancellable this past thursday. I'm hoping that's b/c they are building it and prepping it for the x1900 getting in next week. We'll see =)

Correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt the 7900GT require an additional 6pin plug from the PSU?

How did you get it working then, by having an opened PC next to it and pinching the 6 pin plug?

You can split the power off the optical drive or if you have the right cable, connect directly to the motherboard. There are two PCie VGA power headers on it.

Well then, this should prove a real boon to gaming on the Pro, albeit under windows, could this mean I can still play CSS and DoD and have logic all on one machine?!?!?
