Since you have the means to physically reflash your system, can you check and see if @dosdude1's flasher/injection tools are still able to make it NVMe bootable. Or at least injectable without bricking the machine.
I don't have any NVMe SSDs at the moment, only SM951 AHCI and SSBUX, but I can test this later.

I can confirm I was able to flash my MP5,1 from 0089 to 138 with my AMD Radeon 7950 set to PC BIOS mode.

sadly though I do not get any BootScreens

@Squuiid I noticed your RX 580 has a proper frame-buffer personality is this because your using one of the Pulse RX 580s that get assigned one or has apple changed something?

Using a Pulse.

YESSSS!

Can you run some comparison benchmarks with the new 5gt/s? I’m really excited about this haha
Just ran Luxmark and got the exact same score as before.

One more info, I've upgraded from 0087.

Long story short, you don't need to upgrade to 10.13.6/current BootROM to upgrade to 138.0.0.0.0 - at least with 0087.

ah yes I notice it in your sig my bad :)

is this one of the ones with the Same BIOS PN that apple shipped with the eGPU dev kits or?

because those specific cards got assigned a proper frame buffer personality

while other RX 580s (and even some Pulse RX 580s which had diffrent PNs) have to make do with a generic frame-buffer, is that screen shot on the latest Mojave Beta or? im trying to work out if Apple is giving more RX 580s proper frame-buffer personalities :)

PS can you run CL!ng and post the Device to host and host to device results?

Also finally, if someone with an RX 580 (or RX 560) upgrades to the new Firmware and they DONT get boot screens maybe they could submit a bug report? :D

im wondering that too

is 5GTs enabled for Vega? and is 5GTs also enabled in windows?

and I also wonder how this effects the High point cards :)

im about to Boot into windows now grab a CPU-Z validation.

Yeah, I want to know too, but I'm not gonna be the first to try. I only got my HighPoint card a few days ago. I have no way to recover if it bricks.

aye if someone could give me a quick rundown on how to use ddosdudes patcher or installinstallmacos.py to get this new firmware without needing Dev i'd be glad to try it out

Just realized I can't flash it until tomorrow or whenever PB6 comes out--I'm not in the developer program.

tsialex--is there any mention of anything cMP-specific in the release notes?

download installinstallmacos.py from GitHub, run with
Code:
sudo python installinstallmacos.py

Select 18A365a, with for 6GB+ download, it will create a sparse image with Mojave DP7 installer.

http://valid.x86.fr/cwdkvs heres a CPU-Z validation on the new 138 firmware

http://valid.x86.fr/3h452f for comparison sake here is 0089.

BTW its worth noting that this 138.0.0.0.0 format is the same BootROM version string format Apple uses on the iMac Pro and 2018 MacBook Pros, however it dosent LOOK LIKE any other Mac got a firmware update with this beta of Mojave, I wonder why Apple changed the Mac Pro BootROM version format to that of the Apple T2 macs...

Man, this is like Christmas morning hoping that Santa brought you a 10-speed bike and then opening the box to find socks and underwear.

I mean, that's great that we got any sort of update. It's definitely an improvement to be able to flash firmware without an EFI GPU, and it's great we've got the newest microcode now. Plus, I guess the 5GT/S thing matters to some people, even though it doesn't seem to make any real world difference. But it's the boot screens that I think many of us feel is the number one problem hamstringing the cMP at this point... not just for FV2 but also for switching between bootcamp and back.

Since this is just version 0 of the new firmware version scheme, I remain somewhat hopeful that Apple isn't done improving it.

Edit: And I guess I don't even know if it's possible to load an EFI driver for the 560 & 580 in the cMP firmware itself, or if it would strictly require a new firmware on the card. Is there enough free "space" in the cMP firmware to hold a GPU EFI driver? I have no idea.

@crjackson2134 Downgrade with ROMTool from 138.0.0.0.0 to MP51.0089.B00 still works, just tested.

Hey man keep your hopes up! I see this update as a declaration from apple devs that they care about us and are paying attention to our problems, this is a new firmware scheme so its probably in its very early stages and with this new scheme they'll seed out more updates to us eventually.
