I'm thinking of revisiting Ventura on my Mac Pro 6,1 now that support for Monterey is coming to and end.
What are the outstanding limitations with DRM, CPU power management and graphics acceleration?
So here is the truth as it pertains to my MacPro and my needs .....

You can go all the way to the newest MacOS with OCLP with little to no issues ... my outstanding shortcomings were the following:

1) There is a funny little bug where you can not see the person you are "video" FaceTiming . However Microsoft teams and zoom still work just fine and are not affected by this bug.
2) I am able to see movies from Apple store ( on a Thunderbolt Display ) however in 1080p not higher resolution as maybe available.
3) The benchmarks results for the MacOS upgrades always show improved results for disk access and graphics however when going back to Monterey - the system is just faster responding for some reason all around ( opening windows, applications , etc.....) so is this case totally confused and no help.

Otherwise for me all other apps ( newer versions ) work just fine with no issues - including maps photos calendar and all the productivity suits ( Microsoft or iWork's ......)

What did I do at the end ... I came back to Monterey ( after 1.5 years of using newer MacOS versions ) cause I just like the simpler layout of things .... and it just feels faster overall for some reason ( maybe someone can shed some light on this ) ..... With best wishes.

After installing Sonoma on my Mac Pro 6,1

csrutil status

gives

System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).

Configuration:
Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: disabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: enabled
DTrace Restrictions: enabled
NVRAM Protections: enabled
BaseSystem Verification: enabled
This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.
Can any of the disabled settings be enabled and still have a functioning system?

Can any of the root patches be skipped (e.g. wifi) and still have a functioning system?

I set up a triple boot with OCLP... Monterey, Sequoia, and Windows 11. Works great.

Thanks. I tried Ventura and Sonoma. OK but a few niggles. Gone back to Monterey; like you I find it works smoothly and I can just trust its stability.
