Must be pretty hard these days to send license keys to users outside the US…
Just as a tip, in case you haven't heard about this new revolutionary invention called E-Mail.

MR is massively anti anyone that isn't a Yank. Plenty of websites can manage to run comps with physical and digital prizes and allow worldwide or region wide entries.

Is there any point in keep writing that it's for U.S residents only when every giveaway is U.S centric only? Make a section for Giveaways that U.S users can click into and highlight that section in your choice of color or choice of graphic - AMERICA!!!!! WHERE THE EAGLES FLY.

Not that I'm annoyed that I'm not AMERICAN AND DOESN'T LIVE IN THE BESTEST AND ONLYEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

how about a giveaway that is for NON US people only?
We are Mac users as well you know.

How about reading the entire article so that we don't have to rehash why it's US only for the 10,000th time.

Not sure why you are so upset about this. No one said anything about the US being better. It just happens that the majority of MR readers live in America.

Maybe you should complain to your government to make things easier. I doubt that Macrumors wants to discriminate against you, it's just difficult to comply with dozens of laws around the world.

And apparently it is necessary to remind people every time, because as you can see from the post several below yours that even when they post it people complain. Can you imagine what would happen if they didn't?

Here's a Canadian complexity for you: You must answer a skill-testing question (like 4x2+7-1) to win a contest prize. Big deal. (Quebec has more complexities, however.)

It really is about time that they started doing this, or pulled their finger out and worked out how almost every other website with global reach manages to offer prizes globally.

I've long ago accepted the simple truth that this site is a US-centric one, that targets a US audience first. They won't obviously turn away traffic that originates outside the US, as that would reduce ad revenue significantly, but that doesn't mean they are about to put time, effort (and by extension, expense,) into doing what you suggest.

Yup I figured this out also, hence why they are no longer whitelisted by my ad blocker.

I'd also add that there are many rules and regulations with giveaways in other countries that simply take too much time, money and effort to enact. Maybe Macrumors is working on a future giveaway for international, maybe not.

"Too much time, money and effort" would depend on their total revenue. Only the people that run the site would have access to the data to run analytics against in order to answer that (or one would hope that the people running this site actually care about that stuff. Internet-based businesses would be doing themselves a huge disservice by not caring about it.)

People like us are left to merely speculate.

Discrimination - from India.

No, this is not discriminating from India at all and that's not what it means.

Discriminating would be singling out one entity or one specific catergory. The giveaway applies to ALL of US residents and excludes all other countries.

Is it really that complex to add Canadians to the eligibility? I've seen plenty of contests that cover Canada and the US.

Means that in addition to giving away a free product, they have to pay additional for shipping, fill out customs paperwork, and pay any duty on the product. Might not seem like much but it's still more than simply paying the cost of shipping within the US.

So I have my MacRumors forum account for eleven years now and today I've deviced to leave. I cannot handle how negative and entitled this community has become on the whole; it's unbearable. Also, us international members have for years requested the giveaways be worldwide rather than US, but have been ignored and even our comments relative to this deleted as 'off topic'. Really? It's about respect in the end and you've lost mine MR. We all have contributed around for years. Enjoy your negative life. Get a real job, mods.

Funny enough, you're coming off really negative and entitled.
