I grew up watching my mom do this. I never really thought much of it until my girlfriend was in my passenger seat with her leg out like that as we were making a left hand turn (with a green arrow, mind you) and were almost t-boned when a minivan blew the light... Pretty scary to say the least.

Neat picture, though.
 
Got new sunglasses a few days ago. I have a light allergy so I have to wear those the whole day.
