I use the Mail app with fetch set to 15 minutes for Yahoo Mail and since upgrading to iOS 18, it’s hit or miss if it will download emails.

Frequently I’ll see a number badge, but if I open the mail app it hasn’t even downloaded the emails. Sometimes I don’t even get the badge. Around noon today I opened Mail and it started downloading mail from yesterday that it never bothered to.

This happens on my iPhone 15 PM and iPad Pro 11 (1st gen).

I have exactly the same issue.

I've double checked every setting I can find and also deleted my email account and re-added but still not resolved.

Issue exists on both my iPhone and iPad. Mail continues to work perfectly on my MacBook though.

I hope this gets resolved soon!

Same issue here.
I have just talked to Apple support, that tells me that they don't have received that many calls on this issue!

I'm told that the right way to report an issue like this is to, go to apple.com/feedback and sent in a Bug Report.

In Apple support, they don't have access to the developers who can fix these issues they tell me.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve also checked all the settings and deleted and re-added my yahoo account but it did not resolve the issue.

I've played a bit more. On my iPhone it seems to download once or twice and then stops and the badge icons never updates. On my iPad the badge icon updates, but it doesn't download emails either. My Mac works fine.

This…

Plus unread emails are a pain to delete.
They keep coming back to the inbox.

When I open the mail and delete it from within that opened mail, it’s fine

It's really odd.

When my iPhone is on charge and on wifi Mail works as intended with emails being downloaded and notifications/badges appearing without having to open the app.

It's as if I had set it to "Automatically" rather than fetch every 15 mins.

I’m seeing something similar.

I don’t know if my issue is related to this but this is the post I made - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mail-server-connection-error-mail-not-downloading.2438097/
My settings are for push on both of my iCloud accounts but currently one account is not getting any messages downloaded on my phone but they are appearing on my iPad and on iCloud.com. My wife just ran into this with one device showing a message but in the same account on her other device the message does not get downloaded. These network connection errors have become a daily issue since ios 18. We ran into then occasionally in previous releases but nothing like this.

I don't get that issue - my mail is just not fetching. I have to open the mail app and refresh to get new emails.

This is different for sure. Wonder if it’s some battery/sleep management configuration in iOS where it delays/pauses certain tasks like the fetch.

Reason being it does seem to work normally when on the charger…

What email providers are you guys using? I had this issue a few days ago on my .mac account. A simple off and on of the device fixed it.

This issue is about emails not appearing in the mail app until the app is opened and no notification sound alerts. The badge number appears, but not the mail until app is opened. This only occurs on my old AOL account that I use as junk. Gmail and iCloud mail work fine. Restarting has no affect. Deleting the AOL account and readding has no affect. Feedback submitted and there are other reports. Curious if anyone has tried deleting the mail app reinstalling and adding accounts back.

I've written about this twice on here about the Mail app. and if there are attachments, they used to load straight away on iOS17, but now I have to wait forever, but mostly close the app then open it and then some will appear. I am pretty sure it's not any server, because they work fine on Mac. But iPad and iPhone running 18, both pretty painful

I have it happen with a Yahoo Mail account. It’s not consistent though. Sometimes mail downloads, sometimes I get a badge but when I open the app the mail isn’t there and needs to download and sometimes I get absolutely nothing until I open the mail app.

It’s like fetch simply stops checking now and then or it checks once and never bothers to download anything and then stops checking. Basically the issue I have is it’s not checking.

I get the posix 60 error on multiple phones ever since upgrading to iOS 18. I thought it was me and they upgraded to engineering (apple) for an answer.

Found this in another forum..

I think this topic was raised for non iCloud mail accounts using Fetch not working since updating to iOS and iPadOS 18.0
