If your complaining how big and heavy the iPad is, you may need a gym membership more than an iPad.

I actually prefer holding it within the official Apple case.

Exactly. I use it in the case in "triangle" form-- that way the grip with my hand is more open, and feels natural, thicker like a book. The "pinching" required to hold something so small but weighty tired out my hands, but opening it up to a "grab" made all the difference in the world. The design of that case is very, very well thought out.

I'm going with a BT keyboard and it will just stay in the case all the time-- you can prop it upright in either portrait or landscape in the case, so why bother with the heavy and oddly shaped dock?

True lol...I really dont understand how people are having trouble holding this thing...Maybe don't hold it for 4 hours straight and take a break? I dunno

The weight is not a problem for me. I read a book I bought from the Ibookstore last night for 4 hours, no issues at all. Ofcourse most of the time I was using both hands to hold my iPad.

The more I play with it, the more I think its as big and heavy as makes sense. Any larger and it would be unwieldy.

Over two inches and a pound more for the JooJoo is going to feel like a high price to pay for a USB port and flash. I'd much rather take the iPad as-is.

Seriously, guys. Several times as much glass as the iPhone, a unibody aluminum enclosure, and twice as much space spent on batteries...it's going to weigh more. Have you looked at the teardowns? This thing is half empty space as is.

Exactly. Given the 10 hours of battery life, I expected it to be 2-3lbs. It's amazing that it is as thin / light as it is.

I don't have one—I'm pre-ordered for the 3g+wifi—but I'm going off of the concepts here.

Weights and Measures fail!

A can of Coke is 12 fl oz., which is a unit of volume, not weight.

LOL! So hilarious.

Kinda reminds of the best buy salesman yesterday who said the following things to me

1.) iFart made 21 million in three days.
2.) It takes a year for Apple to approve your app (this is after he learned I do apps)
3.) That he wants to make an app and can pick up anything after seeing it (of course I went to a fairly prestigious four year university to learn it, guess I should have just "looked" at it).
4.) When asked if he had heard of C/C++ (trying to explain Objective C a bit) he replies "Yeah, C, C++, A+...

Yeesh.

For me, I love it, and think it is a good weight, but I do feel that it is awkward trying to hold that much weight in the way the iPad needs to be held. I find I'm holding it with one hand, thumb and "thumb pad" (below the thumb) on the bezel, with my fingers gripping the back, and I'm using my other hand to scroll and do the multi-touch gestures. It starts to wear me out a little, to be honest.

For watching a video or reading a book, it feels fine, because both hands are on the iPad and the weight is evenly distributed and the pinching action that is necessary when using one hand is no longer needed.

I feel like the main fatigue comes from holding it with one hand and trying to keep the hand that you're holding it with from touching the screen.

How much does the average hardcover novel weigh?

I compared it to the 7th Harry Potter book, and the book was heavier.

People seem to have no issue reading.. including kids... I don't understand how this thing is "too heavy"?
